A World without Alcohol

not necessarily with out alcohol all together, but a world that has never witnessed alcohol as an intoxicant.

the intoxicating industry of alcohol has been around for centuries, its booming and will most likely never stop. our world revolves around it and it is widely sociably acceptable.

sometimes i wonder what life would be like with out this divine devil.
where would humanity be?
what other substances would humans resort to using recreationly? and would it be so widely accepted???

i for one couldn't imagine a crystal methamphetamine bar or cocaine for that matter..

in the past there have been opium dens and what not but things like this i dont believe would be appealing to the main stream in the present day.

there is an obvious answer to this question and most might say marijuana.
i can easily see weed being socially acceptable..

but hey then what?? what will we do with out a demonized "gateway drug"?

hahaha yeah ya got a damn goood point there and thats really kinda what im getting at.. it seems society likes something that makes you belligerent but yet feel in control.. kind of the opposite of weed in a way IMO...
really the inspiration for this thread was i saw a program talking about the shortage of hopps these days..
so they started using this "new technology" called "cloning" apparently hops takes 4 years to grow the "buds" before they can use them to brew..

god gave us free will and "we" the majority still dont know how to use it.

i dont know that society likes something that makes us belligerent; in fact maybe just the opposite, thats why people get down on booze. i think that people like to get high/stoned, some a little some alot, and thats why booze stays with us, plus its pretty tasty, wine beer good whisky you name it. been around since probably the first pot of rotten fruit.

i think a lot less trouble happens when people get stoned than get drunk, thats for sure. wonder what it would be like if weed and booze had traded places ...

Actually, we had a world without alcohol(at least ,legally). It was called prohibition. Started the second largest crime wave in this country(the prohibition of drugs is the largest crime wave). During the prohibition of alcohol, pot parlors were popular in NY City.People demand an escape from reality and drugs and alcohol provide that escape.

Do you mean no man made alcohol or if alcohol itself simply did not exist.

If alcohol did not exist you would also lose a surprisingly large amount of other products. Alcohol is a breakdown of sugars amongst other things so an important part of chemistry. without it there would be all kinds of problems.

Without man made alcohol, man would simply focus on another kind of intoxicant, we need something to escape life, without alcohol pot would probably be rampant.

At school we were asked to describe mankind in a world without bacteria and i got an A+ for simply writing " We are all dead thanks to our inability to digest".

If someone opens up an Opium Den in my town I'll be there for the Grand Opening and never leave. "Trouble, you have been here for 3 years ever since our grand opening and we are now going out of business, we need to close and you need to go to detox, treatment, or home now!"

In fact, if Opium Dens were legal I would start franchising them. Smoke Away Your Troubles at "Troubles Opium Oasis."

I stopped drinking all type of alcoholic beverages 14 years ago...and currently have no desire to drink any type of alcohol at all....after such a long time of being sober (since I stopped smoking weed and cigarretes for all that time also) I feel so good it is hard to understand or explain to anyone who drinks.

In America and Europe.....I could count on my fingers people who I know or have known who don't drink alcohol.....the majority drinks beer and wine and considers them to be *non-alcoholic* or something.....at least that's the impression I get when talking to them.

They only consider hard liquor *alcoholic*...everything else is like pop soda to them.

Two years ago while on a trip to Holland with my older son (18) I got high in my first coffeeshop in a border town of Enschede....coffeeshop Cafe Mix...big joint of White Widow....we laughed our asses off....for hours after that

currently...smoking weed once a week....on Sunday morning is what I like.....after not drinking alcohol or smoking weed for such a long time.....the highs I get when I smoke cannabis occasionally like this....are the least to say....phenomenal

since I live a short drive from the Netherlands.....I simply buy from proven sources...mostly sativa strains....Chocolope, Neville's Haze, SSH, Amnesia Haze, Mako Haze and different White strains.....and smoke them all in a mix...believe me...5 hours of flying high in the clouds....after a nice size joint



and yes....that is a little hash....to give a little body high...lmfao

this year I did try drinking good wine.....but the feelings were shity after half a bottle....nothing like good weed...so I'll just stick to smoking weed....and definately think....Coffeeshops...selling Cannabis....should be everywhere around the world.....and alcohol can be for those who want to drink it.....but not for me...lol

another way of saying it rather than say people need to escape reality, is that with mind-alterning substances people actually expand their perception of reality, however bizarrily, if that is a word.

I like you southflorida, do not imbibe in alcohol. I have never been an alchy, and I may occasionally drink a beer, or a glass of wine, or a shot or two. But that would consist of maybe one or two events a year.
I hate alcohol and the lie that it is.
It is one of the worst scourges on our society, bar NONE.
More heartache and sadness has been brought about by alcohol than by any other man made substance in existence.

And I tend to agree that a MJ buzz is so much better, and longer lasting when a person is sober...or should I say completely free from alcohol.
