This thread sure slowed down quickly after Obama's FISA vote. He's looking like a typical politician and little different than McCain more and more every day. Both of them will end up on practically the same platform by November, then it just becomes a popularity and money contest. Obama will win. No wars will end. Might even be a new one with Iran. Economy will keep tanking. Nothing will change.

"Change - Don't you wish you could Change your primary vote?"

Nope, not with the steaming loads another round of pachyderms is ready to drop on the Supreme Court. Vote Obama for that reason if for no other.

I've noticed Obama's lurch to the right as well, I'm hoping its a political maneuver to appeal to the centrists more so than john McCain.

About a week ago I saw him say, on CNN, that he would send more troops into Afganistan. That's right .. more troops.

But what about sept 11th, what about the taliban what about osama bin laden what about the terrorism that sure does exist.

I think that bush making a huge fuck up out of iraq gave americans a "all wars are unnecessary" type feeling.

however we must prevent more terrorist attacks, agreed?
Osama is probably in afghanistan or pakistan, (probably)

His... VOTE.. was no political manuvear it was poltical MANURE.. because his simple failure to FILLABUSTER.. as he PROMISED DURING THE PRIMARIES TO NEVER WAIVER ON NEVER... caused companies now and FOREVER to say.. look do whatever the government ask with or without court orders cause they will take care of us.. just look at the precedent they have established..

OBAMA LIED AND THERE IS NO CHOICE FOR SUPREME COURT THAT HE COULD MAKE THAT WOULD BE THAT MUCH DIFFERENT FROM MC-STUPIDLY IGNORANT...
Look at the recent gun decision.. 4 FOUR of these "brillant scholars" said there was just no individual right whatsoever in the Constitution.. FIVE OTHERS SAID THERE WAS.. BUT THEN WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THAT THOSE RIGHTS COULD BE REASONABLY CURTAILED THROUGH GOVERNMENT ENACTIONS... so there IS NO "RIGHT".. Just a "Privilage give you by your government"... that is EXCATLY WHAT THAT OPINION MEANS.. rights can NOT be infringed... WHATSOEVER... especially in your own castle..i.e. your home..

Now speaking of homes for a moment... this HOME BAILOUT BILL supported by BOTH McStupidly Ignorant and Bra ack I'm Back Obomber... require that ALL MORTAGE BROKERS BE FINGER PRINTED... and ALL CREDIT CARD PURCHASES BE IMMEDIATLY REPORTED TO THE IRS...

Does anyone here... with half a brain... believe that those two governmental intrusions are the damn reason why we had a housing bubble and have to bailout wall street completely while we bailout a few lucky Americans for show.. allowig the rest in this posistion to just be screweed????

YET SOME HERE STILL SUPPORT BAR ACK OBOMBER???? OR MCINTELLIGENTLESS??
They are NEW WORLD ORDER.. ELITE CORPOCRACY CONTROLLED EVIL.. and you are participatig if you vote for either.. in THE DESCTRUCTION OF YOUR COUNTRIES CONSTITUTION FOREVER... cause once its gone it'll be a cold day in hell before they'll give it back...
What to do??? HOW BOUT NOT VOTING FOR EITHER OF THESE LYING CROOKS.. and Writing in Dr. Ron Paul or voting Liberatarian or Green or ANYONE ELSE than the TWO GIVEN YOU BY YOUR CORPOCRACY MEDIA CONTROLLED TALKING MORON HEADS

I'm off to medicate and calm down... this "choice" of an "election" stinks and MOST CERTAINLY doesn't rep the will of MOST AMERICAN PEOPLE.. that I believe for sure.. HELL JESSE VENTURE HAS GONE ON HOWARD STERN AND SAID 9-11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB... JESSE VENTURA.. the Ex-gov... think about that??? Hmm....

Yes, Ron Paul is a genius compared to McCain. And Yes, without a Gold or Silver Standard, our Economy (as well as all Fiat Economies) are finished. It might even be best for 'Merka if Mr. Paul took the Oval office, but guess what, it ain't gonna happen.

Anyone is better than the Son of a Bush. And Barack has a whole lot more "heart" than any other prospective Prez for many a year.... He probably will not start any more unnecessary wars, either.

Politics always stinks...I do not see why people get all riled up here, on a forum about cannabis.... Jeez... Take a series of pills or something.... Or, some strong 100% Indica.

What 'cha got against Alabama?!

Well, other than it's oppressive marijuana laws.

Oh, and the fact that it's almost definitely going strongly for McCain.

No Obama means the whole US becomes more like Alabama!

I really understand what you are saying here. It's just that I wonder what will happen to the mmj issue with him.

That is I fear that the whole mmj thing will get lost in all the "other stuff" with him.

Too bad they stopped looking for him about....hmm....3 weeks after the invasion of Afghanistan! They don't WANT to catch Osama because that wipes out a big piece of the War on Terror and the justifications for things like the Patriot Act. The War on Terror is all smoke and mirrors now.

Fox News also posted an item that Osama was rumored to have died not long after 9/11/2001. I posted a link to it in this thread somewhere.

Benazir Bhutto also stated in a UK interview that Osama was dead. She was assassinated not long after.

Obama and FISA

Obama and FISA

Obama voted for the amendment that would have stripped the telecom immunity from FISA, but that amendment was defeated 2 to 1.

Obama's reasons for voting for the new FISA bill -

"My view on FISA has always been that the issue with phone companies per se is not one that overrides security interests of the American people," Obama told reporters on June 25. "It is a close call for me but I think the current legislation with exclusivity provision that says that a president -- whether George Bush, myself or John McCain -- can’t make up rationales for getting around FISA court, can’t suggest that somehow that there is some law that stands above the laws passed by Congress in engaging in warrantless wiretaps."

Obama also said the FISA compromise was an improvement since it would put an "inspector general in place to investigate what happened previously gives us insight what has happened retrospectively. So, you know, that in my mind met my basic concerns and given that all the information I received is the underlying program itself actually is important and useful to American security as long as it has these constraints on them. I thought it was more important for me to go ahead and support this compromise."

If Congress passes the Barney Frank / Ron Paul bill to protect MMJ states, I don't see how Obama wouldn't sign it into law.

Do you think McCain would?

How can we possibly have any clue what Obama will do? He's flipflopped nearly as much as McCain has and the FISA vote was the one that left a lot of people scratching their heads.

We don't KNOW what Ron Paul would do as President, either.

We don't KNOW what Ron Paul would do as President, either.

There are no guarantees about anybody.

I'd like to think Ron Paul would make marijuana reform a priority, but even though he had said a lot of good things, I was never able to find any mention of marijuana on his website.

What's up with that?

:chin:

What I did find on his website was an emphasis on his anti-abortion efforts, including his bill to define human life as beginning at conception, which would have not only banned early term abortions, but also IUC contraceptives and morning after drugs.

Now, exactly where in the Constitution does it give Congress the power to define the beginning of human life as anything other than birth?

Don't get me wrong, I like Ron Paul. I voted Libertarian in 2004, because Michael Badnarik was a great candidate, a true libertarian in every sense, and John Kerry was a loser who wouldn't take a position on anything.

I wish Ron Paul was on the ballot, but he and his campaign did screw up some, or he might be. You can't blame it all on the media.

And certainly Paul's support of MJ legislation gives a good clue of what he would do.

But, none of them are perfect, and no one knows for sure what any of them would do once in office.

You pays yer vote, and you takes yer chances.

If Obama hadn't voted for the amendment to take the telecom immunity out of FISA, I would be a lot more upset about his vote. But since that amendment was soundly defeated, I can understand why he didn't try to filibuster the Senate that he is going to have to continue to work with either as Senator or President.

McCain thought FISA was so important, that he didn't bother to vote on it at all.
