If you think your "elite" strain's like OG kush and Urkle are still only in Cali you are joshing yourself. I would rather puff on my organic outdoor grown on the Island by old hippy's who have been growing for 30+ year's than your "elite" Sour Purple OG Diesel Orange Kush that you bought in a dispenary for $80 an 1/8th.
And just so you know the purple kush taking over Van is total commerical weed that you would buy on the street. It can be good but not many people here consider it '"elite" by any means.
You should all come to BC and actually smoke some of our herb.

if i am sitting here in canada and a dealer or someone brought me some weed grown in cali, then its commercial exported weed most likely, same as if you in cali get some bc bud,
so what your really debating is who produces the best "commercial" weed, and commercial herb is all about the money, not love of the plant. its about producing a product thats good enought to fetch the price your aiming for.
then theres the high quality weed that a small time private grower produces..who then shares it with friends, and shows it off to other growers he knows, but it never hits the market, at least not in a quantity large enough to be exported for comm sale.
the fact is, great weed is grown everywhere,and so is the worst weed.
and honestly it really doesnt matter who has the best comm. weed cause operations that r growing large comm. crops are not so much concerned about growing to full maturity,proper flush and curing, as they r getting the product out there and collecting the money
and as for those private elite cuts and strains, guys, we are all producing the best. private grow rooms all over both our countries, and countries all over the world are producing the the finest herb. and thats something that should unite us not devide us

Well, I guess Im gonna have to try and enlighten some of you know it alls,( he he, just teasing, it's all in fun).
Around 1970, there were only a couple of places in N. America growing weed and breeding. California and Kentucky, and Kentucky still comes in 2nd, and occassionally 1st in the amount of homegrown produced in NA. In the late 60's, early 70's, there was a great kinship between KY and Cali and there was a huge flow of genes and growers back and forth. In fact, Id be willing to bet that the first hybrids grown in CA. came from Ky. We couldnt grow the mexicans and long flowering stains that were being grown in cali then and had to hybridize.
One of my childhood buds lives in Mendocino still today. His brother migrated to BC in the early 80's because the mountain folk there were more to his hillbilly liking and he took many Ky/cali strains with him and he traded back and forth with his brother in Mendicino and is still doing it today! I know for a fact that many of the genes from Cali and BC are practically indistinguishable except that BC's climate pushed the good ol boys there to head out in a different direction, but manyof the genes are the same..There are still a lot of cali genes here, but quietly.
Just as big bag and Grandpa L suggested, most of the good cuts and seed are in old growers hands never to see the light of day. There are cuts and strains here and in BC that would rival anything cali has ever produced.

We are not talkin about cuts that left the hands of old hill folk or commercial grow ops. The guy who started this thread clearly stated that BC= best herb! Now I am a Cali guy for sure so, you know that kinda statement is gonna draw some attention from the likes of the Cali boys. Everything i hear people in this thread quoting is that the best cuts never leave the hands of the BC hillys and if this is true then we still gotcha beat down south cause many of our elite cuts are out there in the community. As far as the Purple Kush and OG yeah its out, came from here and if you got the real deal you would never go back to organic outdoor! People in BC gotta have something to grow besides Texada TW, Purple Booger, and of course Pineberry so, I am sure some of our cuts made it North!! I personally put your herb right there with all the Dutch stuff watered down with Skunk#1 but that is my opinion. Kentucky is cool, but i cant think of an elite strain to come from there since bubblegum. This is good fun but we may never know! You guys are all talkin bout these good ole boys and their super strains that no one gets to see. If a bear shits in the woods and no one smells it - did it really happen?
