Flowering 332 Watts of CFL in 3 Sq. Ft Perpetual!!

Whats up IC magers. Just got my micro up and running. Inspired by the Dr. Bud. Have a few grows outside but this is my first venture indoors.

Mom Shelf- contains 5-26watt (6500k) cfls mounted in the back of the shelf for the moms. shelf is 1.5'wX2'dX18"h . got 4 different strains in there going. 3 from seed, and 1 known white rhino. other 3 strains unknown dank bagseed. Clones are kept in the same room, i got an extra 26 watt light mounted at about 7" height off to the side of the room. clone bucket fits right under it with about 1" to spare :muahaha:

Containers, Soil, and Nutrients- Moms are in 4" pots, Clone bucket holds 12 peat pots or so. And I plan to flower in 20 oz. soda bottles. or 1 liter soda bottles. I plan to test both of them. Soil is 1/3 miracle grow, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1/3 perlite. Actually more perlite cause i put a couple extra handfuls in there before mixing. The plants are fed a nutriend solution every day___
__Per Gallon of Water__= 28 drops 10-15-10 Shultz, 4 drops Superthrive, and 1 tablespoon 5-1-1 fish emulsion. every watering, almost every day...(Thanx Dr. Bud).

Flowering Shelf- 1.5'd X 2'w X 30" H. Mounted in there are 6- 42 watt (2700k) and 2- 40 watt (2700k). 21,400 Lumens in 3 Sq Feet. :rasta: flowering 7,133 Lumens per sq. ft :chin:

New updates. I've now topped and took clones off all 3 strains i started from seed. the plants are 1 month old from planting seed. Also took 3 more clones from a mother plant outside. So a total of 6 clones in my bucket.

Flower room still only has 3 clones in 20oz soda bottles. with only 4 of 8 42watt lights running. This is because of temp issues. I have 4 pc fans on order that push 133 cfm each. Not too worried about the 45 db.

These are at week 3. Sorry I didn't take pics today before I topped them.

Also i just noticed i have no pics of my white rhino seedling. Since i just topped it and its pretty much just a stick right now (lol), i'll take pics in a week or 2 and post more. Hopefully by then my clones in flower will be showing some sweet hairs by then.

what kinda cab are you using? a tent or home built?

I was wondering are you currently running the 4-42w in your flowering shelf without any sort of ventilation since you stated that you got PC fans on the way? How are your temps currently? Do the 4 42s put out that much heat or do you not need to worry about ventilation until you add more watts? are the 4 pc fans you ordered all going into the flower cab or how are they gonna be split? I was thinking that that was alot of CFM for the small space but I guess you gotta if you're gonna have like 330ish watts of cfls in that small space!

I was wondering because I was going to be doing almost the same thing in the same exact space (except less lights) I was very worried about heat...

Thanx Connoisseur. You have a nice grow going urself right now. I'm very up2date on it. I spent probably 2-3 hours a day for a few weeks reading threads here before posting anything. Had to get some knowledge on indoors before putting my micro space to use.

Not a cab, I'll take some pics of the whole setup so u can see what i had to work with, (mom shelf, flower shelf, the way the lights are mounted, and exhaust) when my other half gets back from vacation with my camera. Also new pics of my clone bucket, and now the topped mother plants will be posted as well.

Ur exhaust ?......In the flower shelf with the 4-42s i have running now i have 1 pc fan pulling 33cfm air out thru my 4" PVC pipe as exhaust, passive intake right now, and it vents out underneath the house. Right now temps are at 80. I don't know if my thermometer read it correctly though cause it feels quite a bit warmer than my mom shelf. With 8-42 watters running i will be using 1-133cfm pc fan pulling air out and 1 pulling air in. and 1 or 2 133cfm pc fans blowing on the plants for stem thickness? I dont know though. Like i said, my first venture indoors. I'd rather overkill than not have enough. 133cfm pc fans are only $10 each so.....But if somebody knows for sure this is way overkill let me know. I'm open to suggestions and i'd very much appreciate anything u guys throw at me.

Back to exhaust
Mom shelf ties into the same 4" pipe with a T fitting. I have 3 pc fans on this shelf. All 3 push 33cfm each. 1 pulls air into the room, 1 pulls air out of the room into the 4" pvc, and 1 blows on my 3 mothers i started from seed. Stems seem thick and strong btw for them being only a month old. temps did stay at 78F. Til i started running the 4-42s on the shelf below it. now temps are about 80(This is what i mean by my thermometer reading wrong, my mom shelf feels way cooler). and maybe even rise a few more degrees when i start up the other 4 flower lights below. I'm looking forward to recieving my other fans. I just ordered 1 day ago, order went through. but my screen froze at the paypal login to pay for them. so i don't know... might be a week or 2 before i get some fans. I'm limited to those 4 lights til then.

I have 8 42's and it takes 3 pc fans at around 6 volts or 2 at 12 volts, I use three because they run slower and they are not as loud at 6 v ,,,I am not sure about the CFM's they were recycled from old torn up pc's. The ones on a heat sink on a processor. small maybe 3".

Looking forward to the pics

Ambient room temp? did i answer that in the above post? I'm not sure what u mean by ambient. maybe i should pull out a dictionary lol

Ambient room temp is basically the average room temperature outside your grow room.

I have refrigerated air conditioning and I keep my ambient room temp at 72 degrees. The temp in my box is at 76 degrees. Four degrees higher than my ambient temp.

Ah i understand now. I'll have to take a reading. Just off the top of my head I'd say ambient room temps about 70, cause i keep my window AC at 68F. I don't even know why i'm worried about temps. I mean, weed grows outside just fine in my area, and temps can exceed 100F for weeks straight at a time. but whatever lol i'm just following everyone else and trying to keep temps below 80.

Which I took readings last night btw. With air circulating inside the room,
flower room= 90F (running 6-42's with door closed for 15 min. I went back down to 4-42's after the reading)
Mom/Clone room= 85F (I think temps will drop back to 78-80 when i get the 133cfm fans for the flower room. Shelf floor of the mom room is real warm cause flower lights are only 1-2 inches below the shelf. We'll see if this poses a problem. I'll get back with ambient temp updates later prolly.

Ambient temp is 72-74.

New updates. All the clones in my flower room are flowering males. This means my 7 footer out back is male. I got off work today, looked at em like i always do. and i'm starting to see little balls all over the place. They are real small right now so i'll wait another day or 2 to let them develop to be sure. Hate to cut a 7 footer down if i'm not sure lol.

Anyways, here's some updated pics. My plants are now 1mo 6days from planting seed. All three are topped, and clones from them are now on day 3 in the bucket. 3/6 of the clones in the bucket are from the plant out back. They're prolly gonna get trashed.

Here is a shot of both shelves

Here's the ventilation i installed

If my clones are 100% male this means my flower lights go off til the clones in the bucket have rooted. :badday:

I don't thnk you can overkill on fans, in terms of keeping plants healthy. Only in terms of using power and creating noise. DrBud himself has a 265cfm dayton blower which is MUCH better at pulling air through a restriction than PC type Axial fans, in a smaller box than yours.

I'm enthusiastic about the use of pc fans in growing, as they're cheap, easy to make quiet, readily available and nonsuspicious to LEO. You might even say I'm a fan of them.. lol. I don't think you can have too many of these. I'm looking at two of the biggest, beefiest PC fans ever to extract mine, with a couple of little ones as intakes to aid my passives.

EDIT: try blowing a pc fan directly on to the CFLs themselves. This will keep temps down somewhat and keep them uniform throughout the cab. It'll keep your lamps alive longer too. :joint:

Updates:

My mother plant out back is indeed male, it's now uprooted and trashed, along with all the clones from it i had going in my cab, except 1 i put in a lil styrafoam cup just in case. Anyways, 1/3 clones from my "mothers" have rooted and been transferred to soil. 1 died, and 1 i'm still waiting to see new growth. I've taken 8 more clones off my 3 mothers in my micro grow 3 days ago. My moms are now bushing out like crazy. 6 clones are rooting in peat pots. and 2 i'm trying the dr. bud method again with just perlite. All 8 are looking good at this point. I'm really looking forward to being successful with perlite because the peat pots take up space in those lil 20oz er's. Cheatin the plants outta that much soil and I don't like it. Anyways I'll take pics and update ya'll.

yeah captain I really wish i woulda dropped the cash for a dayton blower. I recently ran across some at HIDHUT. Decent prices. They also have AC axial fans the same size and price as pc fans. They even have 10" axials that push 500cfm. so u don't need a 20-30$ power supply to power multiple pc fans. wish i woulda known this before i spent money on pc fans lol

I'm definately pullin up a chair for this one seeing as i'm about to build a cab with almost the same amount of watts and same sq. ft..planning to have a veg chamber and a flower chamber..veg chamber will turn into mother/clone chamber after my first round of seeds..im interested in that you said you use mg soil..which type do you use??
