UK Outdoor 2008 Guerilla Style

Nothing to bump, it didn't happen. Got 70 holes dug and lined with plastic and fileld with soilmix, 25 litres per hole, a mix of the forst leaf compost, coco coir, blood fish n bone meal, slow release fert pellets, chicken manure pellets and worm castings. Took 6 weeks of dragging a rucksack into the depths of the forest. I had nearly 80 plants, mostly clones hardening off ready to go fill those holes when I had to tear down, I could only take 5 at a time to the spot so no chance of getting anything moved in time, they all got chopped up and dumped in trash bags and taken to the local tip. I'm very bummed about it as I busted my arse for weeks for nothing, at least I lost 2 stone in the process, and remembered why I never joined the army - cos I friggin hate being cold and wet and in the middle of nowhere!

I'm through with attempting guerilla growing in the UK, wil lhave to wait until i move somewhere with a better climate and less nosy bastards who like upsetting your plans.

It's a shame after all that planning and work too. But still, dropping 2 stone must feel excellent

It does feel good, and lots of clothes fit again that didn't before, if I had been able to carry on my outdoor adventures I would have lost a couple more and been ecstatic!

Some dodgy phone pics from one of the hole filling visits a while back:

This is the little stream I had to cross, it's just too wide to jump over so I tried walking across a fallen tree, which you can see the remains of half-submerged in the background, it snapped and I went in upto the knees, it was mostly liquid mud and I had some difficulty getting out as it really had some suction, shit-up was not the word for it!

This is a path I found near my spot, it's a deer trot, shows you how many deer there are in this forest - hundreds of them plus grouse, partridge, pheasant and god knows what else, no people go through these woods at all, they would have to negotiate the horrid, fetid swamp and get across that river of shit I fell in, so the dog walkers go elsewhere.

Photo-0051.jpg

The top few inches of soil is lovely, rich leaf compost (this pic was taken under a deciduous tree, didn't use soil from under the pine trees - too acidic).

Photo-0055.jpg

There was a nice round hole full of water at the base of this tree right by my spot so I used it to expand my coco bricks, bang a brick in one of my 25 litre poly pots and stick it in the hole for a while to expand.

Photo-0052.jpg

I expanded 10 bricks that day, one per polypot.

Photo-0053.jpg

I then mised the coir with the forest soil and ammendments so it had a perfect, airy, light consistency, beautiful soilmix and nice and rich with all the extras added in, took half an hour to mix each bag, so it took me 7 hours to just prepare 10 pots that day, then another hour and a half moving them to the spot 100 yards away and digging holes and burying them.

This Hashplant is about typical for the clones I had hardening off, they were all about this size with at least 7 or 8 tops, I was gonna have one hell of a nice outdoor grow and had been working hard since February on it, so to have it derailed by the critical point really pisses me off. The holes are still there and ready to be used, but I haven't got anything to put in them anymore and it's too late now ayways, so you see why I say I am not bothering next year!

Hello All,

I've not been able to follow this story closely, but I understand that the guerrilla is not going thru :nono: :bashhead: I' very sorry to hear, specially after all that hard work...

... Since all the hard work has been done already, what about simply putting seeds (fem?) in them pots and let nature do its thing?

Well, it's too late to be worthwhile putting seeds out now I reckon and the weather has been awful here, non-stop heavy rain for 6 days now, haven't seen sunshine for 2 weeks!

Hiya esbe, I had a few of your varieties in the line-up, really sorry they didn't make it. Do you think it would be worthwhile putting out the five Purple Afghan cloens I have, they are only small, but they might produce something? Of course, being past the solstice, they are gonan start flowering almost right away and won't get very big at all, maybe no more than 18 inches.

After all the hard work scouting the countryside for the perfect spot, having found that spot, then all the hard graft dragging everything out there to make the holes, falling in the bog several times, nearly getting stuck one time, hell, I just got completely pissed off and abandoned the whole project after I had to tear down, it broke my spirit and I just had no means to carry on. Sure, friends offered clones to replace my lost ones so I could salvage something from all my hard work, but I couldn't afford the petrol to go get them and at the time I didn't feel comfortable having any cannabis plants anywhere near me and my home. 6 weeks have passed and everything seems to be fine, not heard another word since that damn newspaper arrived in the post. It was terrible timing, the cutting arrived on a Wednesday morning and my friend who had been helping me had the Friday off work and was going to spend the whole day helping me move clones out into the forest, we were gonna move the first batch of 20, then a few days later, another 20, then 20 more a few days after that - you get the picture. So two days before I was to begin planting out I had to dispose of EVERYTHING. Whoever sent me that cutting has a lot to answer for and one day they will get theirs. I lost several irreplaceable mother plants and all the material for my outdoor grow, what a bummer!

Cheers guys, we have sunshine today and no rain, finally the monsoon has stopped! I have three Purple Afghan clones i will go plant out and will put some seeds in the other holes. Esbe, I'm gonna use a few of the ones you sent me, what are the ones you recommend for such a late start?

Well, I went to look at the plants already out in my small, back-up plot and they have all been eaten by slugs, all 12 of them, the two A11 x lowryders might survive, but everything else is either dead or just little bits of leaf left and will be dead soon. The second backup spot had 6 plants, all gone bar a Bahia Blackhead that is just about hanging on in there, slugs again.

I had planned for 75-100, and plants start flowering here in about 6 weeks, so I could have another go at putting some seeds out, there are 6 prepared holes in one spot, 12 in another and I think 67 if memory serves me right in the forest clearing, but what's the point of slugs are just gonna eat em before they have chance to take off?

Guerilla growing really sucks round here, it's so hard to avoid being seen going to the spots, and folks are so nosy. I bumped into an old guy walking his dog on my way to the 12-hole spot last night, and he asked me what I was doing, this was on a public footpath and I was carrying a camerabag and tripod so I replied 'what does it look like I'm doing, mind your own bloody business'. So I can't go back to that spot for a while in case I bump into nosey old sod again.

The forest clearign is so inaccessible it is a fairly majopr mission to get there, I have to kit myself out in all my outdoor wet weather gear and walk a mile and a half before I even reach the edge of the swamp, then it's very hard going walking through half a mile of swamp when every step you sink in 6 inches, and you get very cold and wet in the process and covered in vile, black mud. Then there's half a mile of fairly dry forest and you are at the clearing. Anyone sees me entering the swamp then returning hours later is gonna be suspicious, maybe think I'm a poacher, despite the tripod and camera bag.

All I can see is a lot more hard effort and little prosect of any reward at the end of it, too many factors conspiring against the likelihood of success, and recent events involving anonymous mail being sent to my house has changed my viewpoint on taking risks by being seen by some nosy bastard. Because it's so boring round here, most folk's main entertainment is gossip, and at the moment, I don't want to give them anything to gossip about.

Remember that lovely Hashplant cutting? This is what's left of it after 7 weeks outdoors:

This A11 x Lowryder has been outside 8 weeks in a 25 litre hole full of lovely soilmix, it has grown one node. So I have to ask myself, what's the point?

DSCF0012.jpg

The other A11 x Lowryder, this one has only grown two nodes and looks to be male.

DSCF0019.jpg

These two Ducksfoot x Afghan f2s were 2 foot tall and very bushy when I planted them out 8 weeks ago, one is dead, the other has just a few leaves left.
