Agh, I want to soak my seeds into some solution but it's been ages since I've done that and I just don't remember !!! Please help me !

Irie !

Easy mriko, and good evening.

I recently soaked some seeds, and thought that if they sink, they are ready to germ. They all sank but one, and they all popped their shell's.

I don't entirely know if a seed floats, that's a sign of a dud.

Only one way to find out!!!

But nothing to threat over, know what i mean.

Peace Tc

Sometimes they will float at first and then sink after a few hours. Sometimes you have to stir them for a while to get them to sink.

ive had floaters that refused to sink after 24 hours but still popped. best thing to do after soak is try to germinate them all.

Sink, sometimes you gotta help them sink though, like give them a nudge with your finger. Ive had them pop on top of the surface too.

I bet you got some exotic landrace beans huh mriko? :)

In my experience, it doesn't matter. If there's anything that I'm proud of, it's my germ rates. I can usually get every single bean I soak and plant to pop and live. Maybe I'm taking a little bit too much credit for their vigor though.

salam!

like others have said, I have had them pop while on the surface as well, they never sank and germinated well.
some that sink will not pop open either though and some that float won´t open either... :D
the seeds open at different depths of submersion and can open at varying lengths of time. be good Mriko,

Paz.

I got a huge batch of seeds that were 5-8 yrs old and almost all floated.Which to me meant that the seeds had dried out and were mostly full of air.Anyhow the only ones that popped were the sinkers and they didn't last as they were very weak
