that still being in school, I am surrounded by massive ignorance in regards to marijuana.

Almost everyone at the school I attend has tried smoking even once, and there is a strong group of people that smoke daily.

The problem is that they posses pure "this kush is the best" mentality:spank:, as well as the regular commercial bud that they get is always the "new variation of trainwreck".

I am very lucky here at ICmag to be constantly increasing my knowledge about herb, I just wish I had the dank I've been seeing consistently as well as being able to converse with people more educated. Anyone else have this problem?

Still can't thank this site enough!!! :rasta:

not to be an ass like everyone else that brings this up,but you're talking abuot school on a marijuana site, which begs the question, how old are you?

if you are underage, please delete your account until you are of legal age, and PLEASE, do refrain from growing in your parents house... if not out of respect for them, to keep them from being paranoid freaks and making a big scandal because "those internet people changed" their "baby"

again, not to seem like an ass or anything, but the only age one needs to worry about is their own. there is a lot of assuming going there, and we all know what that does. just because he is "in school" does not automatically make him a "baby". if there was a real question of age i think the appropriate people would do whatever is necessary...

but in regards to lilman, i find the best approach then, with this new wealth of knowledge, is to sit back and smileee....

So true, I had certain people I met tell me "oh this is the best it's from B.C, and so it's worth twice as much, blah blah blah...

Always using these key words/names like "yo this is the chronic", "this is hydro"?

These people honestly have no idea what the hell they're talking about usually, "did you grow it?" So how the heck do you know what it is?

It's almost always garbage,

Not completely sure what you mean

Not completely sure what you mean

Not completely sure about what you're getting at. If you're saying general people can be rather ignorant to the complexities and technicalities of cannabis then yes, I agree. All to often commercial bud gets tagged and given buzzwords. "Haze," "kush," "dro" we've all heard the terms and we know what to expect but they are used rather loosely on the street. Your average person won't really know too much about weed. Around here I mostly see people smoking (commercially) regs, mid-grade and maybe some kind bud or something. College kids can usually always find the beasters or better somewhere on campus.

But do they even really know what they're smoking? Do they know the difference between growing methods and how it could influence or effect the final product? Do they understand strains and traits and sativa/indica, etc? Probably not. I try to spread education in chunks to the people I smoke with if the subject arises. I don't get too detailed or talk about growing specifics or anything but I try to connect the dots with questions they may raise. I'm certainly no weed expert, though so I just tell them what I know and encourage them to learn more (research, experiment.) There are people that sell bags of weed around here that call it whatever they want so I never really trust buzzwords unless it is from a confirmed source. I met one dealer who said he had "hydro" but for some reason he thought that was the strain name. He saw no connection between hydroponics and the nickname given to pot grown using that method. He just thought it was "dro" or whatever the guy he got it from told him.

Learn all you can about it. It's a wonderful plant and to know so little about something you're putting in your body, usually on a frequent basis, is a little strange (not saying that you know nothing about it, I mean the average person.) That's pretty much what I don't understand. There was a guy teaching my girlfriend's college course about drugs and substance abuse and when they got to the medical marijuana part, he'd never heard of a vaporizer before. I mean come on, wtf. Is our children learning? However, on occasion, you will meet those people who just don't give a shit. I have one or two friends that no matter how many times I explain differences between sativa/indica bud and high, it doesn't stick. Indica - dense buds, fat leaves, compact, usually earthy smelling/hashy/floral/semi-berry, couchlock/body buzz. Sativa - fluffy, airy buds that usually aren't as dense, thin leaves, smells of pine, lemon, fruity, pungent, fuely; head buzz, energy, etc. They don't retain it and I mostly attribute that to their apathy or lack of interest. I swear it's like I tell them every time and then they're asking again. For some people it is just a high. Now a good high isn't a bad thing, it's just that there's so much more to it.

Lilman - Their minds will change, they are just uninformed. They will either decide to learn more, or they will remain ignorant and the next "best pot" will be whatever the next craze happens to be.

We went through it when NorCal breeders developed TW

We went through it when everyone thought purple was by and far the best/strongest pot(When in actually it consistently has lower THC levels than green plants.)

And we are going through it now with the kush craze, for which California's med community is mostly responsible. They will call anything kush man, Ive been in many dispensaries, been shown "kush" and instantly knew there was zero kush in it. I have also been shown "kushes" when I asked for the purest sativa available.

Really, if you are/or once you become informed the whole thing just becomes laughable

It really baffles me, calling it "Hydro" as if that's it's selling point. Oh it's hydro, damn I have to get that. I mean if you told me it's organic, or organically grown in soil I might be more interested.

Telling me it's been grown using hydroponics? Wonderful, I'll take some of that over fertilized stuff you have.

When are they going to start saying, "yo I got the organico" "I got the organics" "yeah man it's a new strain, organo"

Lmao I used to love when people would tell me "Hey, Dollar - check this smoke out.. its the dankest.. homie, this shit is hydro."

To which my response would usually be along the lines of "So? That means it was grown in water not soil, grown for yield not quality. The taste will not be as full, the smoke probably harsher. I'll give you 5 bucks a gram. But you better kiss me first."

i didnt know hydro was growing for quantity over quality? lol?

hm.. organic ferts in a hydro system results in some utterly dank herb

Well obviously its not universal as I can only speak for the circles I ran in. However, yes, virtually everyone I knew in high school that grew in hydro did so because of the increased yield

Incorrect...

Oh, Im sorry dicknose - I didnt realize you had the ability to judge the growers I know and the quality of the cannabis I was smoking over a decade ago.

And sorry, hydro cannot identically replicate dirt. Im not incorrect. Soil grown cannabis tastes much sweeter.

That's what I love about know-it-alls...
You give them a taste of their own medicine and they go apeshit.

I mean, the first thing out of your mouth was an insult. Grow up kid. I see right through you...

What specifically?

I suppose it could be chalked up to perception, perhaps it can be chalked up to inexperienced growers and hydro not being so popular. Lets not forget, I said when I was in high school.. thats the early 90's, things have changed considerably. There have been leaps and bounds in indoor cultivation.

being smart would be having alot to say.. but true wisdom would be not saying it.. dunno where i got that, but i think of it alot when people press me loads of sh!t in my ear about growing/smoking/ or the weed in general...

its the fact that they arent really curious on the subject, which makes me loose all interest in the conversations.. I enjoy listening :)

a dose of what medicine?

You came in a stated that I was wrong? Where did I do that to anyone in this thread? I didnt - therefore it can not be a taste of my own medicine. Is that over your head? and when did I go apeshit? All I did was call you dicknose, for all you know that could be a term of endearment where I roll. And I still maintain, where I am from - back when I was in high school, from the growers I knew - which as I stated before - hydroponic grown cannabis had a much flatter taste and most of the time smoked far harsher. But I guess you can agree with that again since you were right there burning with me, right? I mean thats the only logical way you could have any opinion on the quality of pot.

EDIT: I just realized youre the same mouthy little bitch from the other thread that couldnt stand someone completely disagreeing with you and pointing out your ridiculous claim that you later, unsuccessfully, tried to redirect as an exaggeration.

You are completely insignificant to me. Thanks for playing, you lose.

Honestly, Knotty, there isn't a thought in your head that is too much for me to handle...

So, go ahead, type up another up another one of your witless responses and talk about how much more right you are than everyone else. You claim to be reasonable and logical, yet your retorts consist of nothing but hollow defenses for your own narcissism and twisted line of thinking.

If the hydro you smoked sucked, blame the grower, not the bud.

Personally, I take your pseudo-knowledge of bud with a grain of salt, as you've yet to post anything outside of the Toker's Den.

Considering most of your posts are in the den or the crash pad, I find that laughable. Much like I find you.

This is the only place that interests me. I am more than willing to share my knowledge with anyone. But I dont tend to spend every waking minute online lurking around trying to show off. Im glad thats what life means to you. Life is about perception.

I really shouldnt have even taken the time to acknowledge you again, I really couldnt care less what you think or have to say. Have fun thinking up another angry response, I hope it gives you wood.
