83.00 for a solar powered pump that does 38 gph, runs for 8 hours a day, comes on at sunset, AND the solar panel is stealth?

im not one to use irrigation, but wow. i think i may have to give that a try. theres alot of solar pumps on google, has anyone tried them?

just divert it to like 100 little lines, theyd get over 3 gallons per night

How is the actual panel "stealth"? Isn't it still reflective? If it's still reflective lik eI'm thinking that's like putting out a signal mirror.

i would put it right on top of a stream, so i would think if someone saw it from a distance it would look like the water reflecting?

I'm stoned but that idea seems pretty smart to me.

Looking at the specific solar pump though, the motor isn't very strong and can only pump a height of .6 meters. Anything other than a plot significantly down hill of where it is placed I would think it would have a hard time pumping. So you might need something more heavy duty.

yea i dont think youll get far with 0.6 metres height ,, its really more of a fountain pump than irrigation ... this is more like what u need ...

i guess id need to look more into irrigation if i wanted to try this...i figured it would be ok because the plants would be no more than 10yards away from a stream

what i particularly love ab out that pump , is with a digital timer attatched it will cut on and off as u need ,,,, u dont need to be there to water as long as you have set up well ... ideally id love to have a few of them ,, and fill a dam with one and water with the other ,, i could use the dam for gravity feeding also while im not around ... take s time to set up though , but quite do able ....

just from the local pump place , they are between 3-400 aus dollars ,,, maximum output was 14 litres per minute and i think it uses something like 9 amps per hour of power ..

u can run one of those small knocker sprinklers with it no problems and water quite a large area ..
ive had it pumping over 100 metres from the creek , uphill quite an incline ,, it will drain more power doing that , but it does it ...

well i use quite a lot of power because i need to run it quite a lot and also a few other 12 volt things ... but a 40 watt panel with a good suited battery would do the job for most ...
ill be updating my set up a bit this year so ill get u some good pix of it when i do , its a bit rough at present and really needs re organising ....

ohh the pump itself will run on any car or truck battery .. but its best to use the deep cycle batteries in combo with a solar panel ...

it can be rusto ,, and if u look hard into your needs etc ,, u can come up with something simplified .. i have to water a lot of ground ,,, a small grow can get away with less ..

It's only supposed to go up .6m under pressure, using the fountain nozzles. Why could'nt you possibly get an extra foot if you use it to pump water up to a gravity system? Also, there's another fountain pump that has no battery, pumps 30" up, flows 40 gph, and only costs $ 43. Shit, I'm thinking of buying one of those.

Love the idea of putting the solar panel ontop of the stream, FN. Pure genius.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about .06 inch incline. Your setup is exactly what I would like to use.

So Solar panel is 40 watts, don't you have to convert that down to usable voltage somehow? It would be nice to really get that drawn out to a usable form on a thread on here.

Solar puts out 12v.

well actually it will vary during the day , so u need a regulator to make sure the battery doesnt overcharge .. heres a rough look at what i was using earlier this year to run the pump and a few fences etc ...

theres a few panels there ,, a 40 watt and an 80 watt ,, as u see i dont put them directly up ,, they still get sun most of the day there ...
as i said its a bit rough ,, just what i wacked together that worked ....
