250w Metal Halide Bagseed Closet Grow

D

d4.

Hey everyone, thanks for the concerns. I didn't mean to scare anyone :p. I recently had my dog of 13 years die recently so it took my mind away from my grow thread for a bit.

I lack a camera at the moment, but I will be getting some new pictures up soon. Just to give you an idea, I'm currently starting week 3 of flowering and things are looking great!

I have a lack of knowledge of DWC and it wasn't quite working out so I put that SD into soil and its doing much better. I plan to make it a big mother plant and cut tons of clones off of it!

New pictures within the next day or two, stay tuned!

Thanks for the kind words navigator, and as promised here are the updates. Viewers should be pleased.

totally digging your grow nice looking plants :) just had a quick question if its not to secret.. :) what is your soil blend ? because right now i have a bag of expert organic soil and cant seem to really dial it in.. i have mixed it about 40/60 perlite/soil.. didn't seem to work very well even though it drained very well :).. so now i'm trying a mix of about 20/30/50 perlite/MG seedling starter/expert organic..

My soil mix is a simple blend of PRO-MIX / Perfect-Mix / Miracle Grow Organic Choice.

You can use the PRO-MIX or the Perfect-Mix, my current mix just happens to have a little bit of both.

I've seen the Miracle Grow Organic Choice in action for a few grow seasons and I can highly recommend it.

Just curious, whats the dimensions of that space your using?
And hows that sour diesel lookin?

P.S. Sorry about your dog man, that's terrible.

Hey Kade! Indeed long time no see, I was actually wondering where you went not too long ago. Great to have you back on the scene. :rasta:

The closet space is about 4feet long x 2feet wide x 8feet tall. I only use a 2x2x3 space though to grow. I was gonna use more, but the light to support that kinda space would of ran me a lot more... plus my only ventilation is an 80mm PC fan (same one from the speaker grow).

The SD is coming along well, I built a micro box for it out of a rubber maid container. It suffered some PH burn in the DWC setup, so I moved it into soil once the roots sprouted.

I've been LSTing hard on it, so I'm hoping to be able to cut some clones within the next month or so to put under the 250!

About to start week 4 of flowering on the closet tomorrow, probably gonna have some pictures up tomorrow.

Keep in touch and stay safe  .

Damn ! That's looking good.
i don't know how your able to cool that area with a pc fan? but hey if it ain't broke don't fix it right. Those plants don't seem to be under any heat stress.

I always seem to have heat issues.
And how are u cooling that Rubbermaid? LOL
I use a Rubbermaid setup for my clones and seedlings, and even with just 2 cfls in there I'm pushing 80f. LOL

I think I can cool the area well because the area is over sized for my 250w MH, gives me a lot of extra room for that air to flow around and not build up. I am also cooling the rubbermaid with a 80mm PC fan that doesn't spin nearly as much CFM as the one in the closet. What kinda CFL's you got in there? I got (2x) 20 W's, and (1x) 13 W. Make sure your fan is truely running at 12v's so it spins as fast as it can.

Well it looks like you got some nice buds going in there D4.
My interest has been in how the 250 MH does. I use a 400 to flower, but have been using flos for vegging.
I had 240 watts of 4' flos, but I just couldn't take the big long units any more and pulled 3 shoplights out of my veg space.
I still have 1 - 4 footer. and 4 23 w CFLs. that's still 180 watts. I might go to a 150 or a 250 MH though.
Anyway, looks good. keep it up.

Well done! They are obviously happy with their treatment thus far.
How is the SD coming along? Nearly ready for cloning? How do the bagseed smell they look tasty.
How about a profile shot of the whole cab with the ladies from floor to cola? i'm having a hard time estimating the actual size of those babes.

Thanks for dropping in everyone! I went into my closet today to a smell a terrible burning smell coming from the socket and the bulb... I shut it off and let it cool down so I could put in the spare bulb I had and no more problems! The HID bulbs loose their power and start degrading after a short amount of time by the looks of it because this one is so much brighter... and I only had the other one for a few months! Needles to say I think it will help bud development.

InPotiTrust - Thanks!

rcknrllmothrfck - Hope to see your grow up and running soon!

hazy - The 250 MH had spectacular veg growth, I feel I could literally see them changing all the time. The growth is a lot more vigorous and darker green than what the CFL's produce. Even for flowering they are showing great results. Hows the 400 working out?

funk_buddha - The SD is great, I have LST'd her well over 20 times now and she is making many side shoots. I'm hoping to throw her under the halide soon after I take some cuttings. Shes ready now, but I'm not rushing :)! The ladies in there right now are about 1.5ft tall, the one in the back of the following picture is a little more than a foot, but shes standing on something so she can be near the light.

Here are the plants at the end of week 5, we start week 6 tomorrow.

And the SD, the pictures don't do it justice, but this is a preview.

Stay safe everyone!

"a terrible burning smell" uh oh thats not good man. Particularly if its coming from the socket.

I'm not the person to ask about this but i'm sure your lamp was supposed to last longer than that. It was also not supposed to indicate the end of its life with a burning smell.

Were there scorch marks anywhere or anything like that? Burning smells are never something to take lightly.

Keep it real.

[EDIT] Very nice profile shot! those should fill out wonderfully. [EDIT]
