Sam,

Would you mind if these were digitzing and updated for use? They are very intersitng and much better than the stuff I have been working on the past year or so. I hate to reinvent the wheel when it is rolling so nicely.

with regards to purple stem column.... personally i disreguard purple stems (especially at an early stage) as for me they are usually a result of sun burn on the plant...

great stuff though.. i will dig out some excel forms

One exception I am working with an incross of DJ Shorts F-13 and I am specifiaclly looking for a BBS in this cross. In this case, and really in any DJ project, Purple or Blue stem infomation is critical and worthy of tracking.

Any thoughts on a correlation between calyx-size and the overall quality of the high? I have always speculated that a large calyx would allow for more trichome coverage, but it is possible that there is a separate gene controlling "trichome field density"- sort of how some strains seem to be packed with a dense field of trichomes (per mm squared) while other strains seem to have a sparse and unorganized trichome field.....

hopefully that makes sense.....?

also, i love how your rating for the high is 1-25 rather than 1-10.......that allows for a much broader scale for the personal interpretation of the cannabinoid experience......

Thanks Sam!!!! :smoke:oOoooo

:ying: kind regards from guineapig :ying:

Ok Purple stems can also indicate Phos dif I think, is it a trait specific to the BBS ??

Thanks for these Sam and other contributors to the thread they are extremely useful and have already made me rethink my Indoor catalogueing method's for the better. Information like this is just whats needed by noob's to educate them towards good record keeping and general preservation of germplasm for future gen's.
When I started growing it was pre internet and although I found lots of great growing information available in my late teen's,there was very little definitive info,Templates and other breeding tools available to me personally that were specific to Cannabis(I would look in general books about breeding of flowers etc for info and tools but it would not always relate well) If there had been maybe I would still have some of the lost plant's I miss to this day. One of my closest Grow partners has some great spreadsheet type templates we put together for evaluating performance in Hydro/Bio systems,Air-cooled Lighting,Ventilation and nutrients/feed's etc. He is a little Internet paranoid but I will see if I can extract them from him.....That's assuming there not off-topic Sam as I don't wanna thread hijack ya'! Awesome thread, Sam! Thanks for sharing your methods of data collecting and organizing... Staying organized and keeping easy to read records is a weak point of mine... I usually end up with diary like entries of notes, and have waste a lot of time going back deciphering them and looking for things... I'm definitely going to be utilizing your sheets on future projects... Thanks Sam...

Now if one of you computer coding gurus can turn them into an easy to use program, which one could keep on a usb keychain drive along with their encrypted data...

With the password lock of Excel sheets would be enough for most of the users.

The good thing would be to do an Access database or an Http with mysql databse with sam descriptions into it. Jejejeje getting complicated :D

I have a computer hand held Data input device like used by parking meters that allows extremely fast data input walking in a field. It is proprietary and cost me a bunch to have made for me. I will not share it but I will share the data sheets it was based on.

It wouldn't be hard at all for a programmer to make an easy to use program for tracking all data on cannabis. Someone should start on it today. Hell, you could finish the program by the end of '08 and save us all of this writing nonsense. I like to type more anyways.

Surely 20 years ago data sheets were important, due to the problems with taking film to be developed, but now in the age of digital photography, doesnt a picture say a thousand words?

So far Sam the datasheet you have posted here are the ones in your hand held computer?

I am really interested in these thing and I might do a Database for me.

GMT,

Are you sure a photo helps with smell and taste or the type of high?

joaquin386,

My hand held used these as a start.

It must be faster, easier, smaller to do the work now and I encourage anyone to do so.

H3ad, I use a little program called Treepad lite (freeware) to store all this info in a basic tree style structure and plain text. Works for me and you can link to files etc. That, combined with properly referenced photo archive seems to be quite good so far.

Hi Sam, Thanks for all the updates, much appreciated!!! This information will help me and many others immensely I am sure.

I'm loving these data sheets, it's like we're getting pages from a book of history. All we really need now is the male sheets when he has time to put them up.

This alone has caused me to go back to the data sets and re-evaluate everything. I can't thank you enough Sam. Now any hints on how you index and label plants?

As I know you all like to share here is what I came up with courtesy of a DJ article. Sorry if this strays off topic but all this data sheet stuff is only really good with good plant identification schemes. without further ado:

Here is an example of my new indexing mechanism
DD13-f13.9.1-2008-1 ("doubledown#13" - "F13 plant #9 grow 1 mother" - "year grown" - "grow number")

here is how I will identify parent stock used to make DD13

F13-9-DJS-2007-1 ("Strain Name" - "Plant #" - "Breeder" - "Year of grow" -"grow #")
