The purple strain I posted was Purple Kush from a grower here in the Southwest. It was a great phenotype that didn't yeild much, but purpled just right. It tasted like fruity pebbles and church incensce. There's been other phenotypes of purple kush that don't produce much anthocyanin, but this phenotype had great bag appeal. The same guy who sold it to me sold me another bag of the same strain for way cheaper, because it wasn't purple and the terpinoids weren't nearly as strong as that one I posted pics of.hanfiking said:

I tend to like the Purples but most tend to be lacking in strength of High, Their are soooo many versions of Purple herb nowadays it is easy to get tricked by looks alot looks good and smokes like trash, while others are incredible. I personally like the Purple Urkle or the Purple Kush as tops simply the best in terms of taste and strength. The Urkle to me is what Purp is all about, Grape Ape and Grape Krush are nice, more about flavor with those not much of a kick. The Grape Ape and Grape Krush has more of a Grape Kool Aid/Grape Candy flavor and taste but for in terms of taste it is a 10 just lacking in strength. Now the Urkle flavor and taste are not even closely related to any of the other purples
except for maybe Grandaddy Purp but that is a watered down Urkle. If you can find real deal urkle never pass it up
Now here goes some real deal commercial Purple Urkle really no flaws aesthetically and the smell is to die for
And here goes some of what I call Purple Beasters this is trash but is passed around as Urkle when it is actually Purple Beasters lol this stuff is what I believe alot of people are smoking that think they are smoking a real Purple variety such as Grape Ape or Urkle but the only thing similar is the color the taste is a earthy/woodsy flavor but of the undesirable nature and it goes beyond a bad flush with this it is just a boring herb that has no place in connoisseurship lol
Grape Ape-Excellent taste grape candy grape kool aid not expecially strong. I have smoked batch after batch of Grape Ape and while not overly impressed as with alot of other elite herbs such as (Pure Kush, Urkle, Bubba Kush, Hazes) I still find myself running back for more, very relaxing and a great daytime herb
and here goes a cross a friend created pollen chucking but has turned out to be one of the best strains I have ever grown or smoked it is Pre 98 Bubba Kush x Abusive Kushaze (SSH x OG Kush) this herb is simply spectacular with the smell and flavor of Bubba Kush very strong SSH aroma and I dont know how but a bottom end Purple taste very urklish or Purple Kushish

heres djs f13. it showed some purple during bloom. just adding the only purp i have as of yet. but i bet the cocoa kush and grape krush that are up and coming will have some as well. so far purple color is just that, color. i dont see the hype but for some reason people love the purple. i do have to admit that the f13 is THE best weed i have ever grown and smoked. im sure there will be better but so far, she wins.

I like to grow out the purple strains every now and again for thier bag appeal but the punch has got to be there!
What I really like is when a purple pheno type pops up out of nowhere in your garden

So called "Purple Haze". Got the seeds from buds bought in some A'dam Coffeeshop, but was ready to harvest first week of Sept ! sounds fast for a purple haze, eh ? Nice fruity weed& ultra giggly whatever. wascrossed with an NL, but unfortunately seeds, were lost when I moved from there...
Very dark plant, both buds and leaves, actually leaning more towards black than purple.
