Anyone else watchin the LUNAR ECLIPSE tonight?

Hey anyone else watching the eclipse this evening? Where are you guys watching from and what are you smoking on?? I am live wayout in bumblefuck so gettng away from city lights is not a problem for me. Smokin on some BlueGod, and GrapeKrush. Maybe we will see an old US spy satellite get blasted out the sky as well...

The eclipse sequence will begin with a partial eclipse starting at 8:43 p.m. and will end at 12:09 a.m. Thursday.

The total eclipse of the moon will occur at 10:01 p.m. and last until 10:51 p.m., NASA said.

Mid-eclipse is expected at 10:26 p.m.

Scientists said the this lunar eclipse is "well-placed" for viewers in North America. The eclipse will not be observable in eastern Asia or Australia.

So you're both right. Kinda.
I'm thinking I should have a pretty nice view. Of nothing. That's what I'm looking for, right? Apparently Saturn, one of the big stars and Uranus will be out to play, so the sky won't be totally blacked out. Which is more than I can say for myself.

You are an hour behind those of us on Eastern Standard Time. You are also the most recent recipient of HuffAndPuff's Seal of (dis)Approval. I could accept that you didn't know where your shitty time zone stands in relation to the one that counts. (That's the mighty EST, for those of you keeping score at home). What I will not abide is your willingness to display aforementioned ignorance, by choosing to eschew google. We are not certified sources, and I am beginning to contemplate making things up, when I reply with answers to questions that are better asked of a search engine. Oh wait... I already did, somewhere in my earlier post!

The full lunar eclipse should provide more than just a blacked out moon....at its peak the full moon will turn a nice shade of orange, much like the little hairy hair hairs on the beautiful bud bud buds.

This happens because the sunlight that sneaks around the edge of the earth has to go through our planet's atmosphere before travelling to da moon...just like our sunsets turn orange-y the lower the sun gets as it sets.

It should be purty....

Maybe...

Maybe...

In Vancouver and the surrounding area we are supposed to see the eclipse around 7pm. I'm smoking Afghani Bullrider of course!

very nice pics. really. Did you use a scope?. If so, there's a trick you can use to get detail. It's called a "hat trick". You set your camera to the "B" setting. That's the setting that allows you to keep the shutter open for as long as you want.

Place your "hat", or some shield in front of the scope. Open the shutter. Move the hat front in front of the lens and then move the hat back in front of the lens/scope. Release shutter. We're talking .5 seconds of exposure.

I have a pic, but it's on paper. Also have the negaties around here too. Tried Jupiter, but it's over exposed as your very nice pics are.

Hey, thanx for the reminder - looked outside once I saw this thread. Snapped a pic and cropped, but all I have is 3x optical zoom, so pic is kind of crappy. Moon is too far for autofocus I guess...

Well here it is...

Peace
