Hiya FJ

I think I'll try that idea with some of my next batch of Trainwreck dry sift.

Howard Marks describes hashish being heated in a big pan before being smashed with big rocks to flatten it in his book Mr Nice. I remember seeign a picture of a homemade contraption that looked like a still that was being usign to make oil in Morocco I think it was, not sure how it worked.

Yes one more thing, what happens in there is that the resin starts to melt and ooze from the cunk of charas that usually has a lot of plant and chlorophyll and water and such in it, then you throw away the shit thats left of the process and scrape the oily substance from the bottom of the pan, easy like eating yogurt. Ohyeah BH god to see ya bro, most of the import hashis is heated I think, it makes it stick together better when pressing it, you can dry it with dry sieve, hand press a 2nd grade piece with no heat and other piece with heat, the other will stay as a piece but the other breaks into powder again in a few days I have noticed. But with very pure resin it doesnt matter if you heat it or not, it'll be sticky goo anyway. :D

I've experimented with pressing and heating my dry sift, basically I found a low heat such as placign the press on top of my ballast or radiator was fine, although THC4SIm showed me a lovely piece he made by heating with a paint stripper heat gun while pressing. I found if presssed with no heat it just compresses it, the heads don't break and release the resin so it;s just a compressed piece of powder that crumbles back into powder. Heating lightly for 48 hours produced a medium brown piece where sabout half of the resin heads had broken and the piece crumbled into a brown, sticky powder. Pressing and heating for 3 or 4 days produced a really nice dark brown sticky piece that was hard to crumble.

If you look at the second pic I posted in my last post with the two little hash disks, the one broken in half on the left was only pressed/heated for 2 days and is a medium brown, the hairs are from my dog, they get everywhere, sadly. The one on the right was pressed/heated for 3 days and you can see how some of it has turned into a dark, oily resin.

With the dry sift I get a few pistils and cystolith hairs, dust, tiny bits of plant matter etc, I don't make large enough quantities to bother refining it with a seconf finer screening. The end product is still very high quality even with the contaminant and gets me very blasted every time. I prefer to press it into a brown piece and leave it to cure for a month, this increases taste and smell and I think potency somewhat too. Whne fresh, dry sift can be harsh and lacking in taste.

I plan to grow some Moroccan varieties outdoors this year just to make my own dry sift from. I will then hopefully have sufficient quantity of hash powder to experiment properly with curing and pressing techniques. I'm think I will take some of the batch and refine it with a second, finer screenign to get the contaminants out then press it for a week on top of my ballast then cue it for a couple of months, aiming for the highest quality piece. The rest I will try other things with, quality being less important.

That Molokai looks good, how long would she have gone if uninterrupted? Is that the same molokai you used in the cross to the Strawberry Web? How long does the molokai take indoors?

Here's a pic of my last piece of sativa drysift, hand pressed with a cup of tea for heat. This stuff bubbled very nicely.

This was collected in a kif box that I use for my daily buds so there was almost no plant material, I was surprised at the qaulity for dry sift.
I like to cure mine in a wooden box for as long as I can hold out, the smoke becomes incredibly smooth and flavousome.

Here's a NepJam shotjust for fun

Hey everyone!!!

Not to interrupt the conversation. But.. I need an opinion or three.

Here is my SSH from Mr Nice on Day 77 of flowering(10/14) and day 122 from seed. She is just now starting to yellow off as I call it and die. Trichomes are still like 99% clear. I have to leave town next week. Next possible harvest date will be Feb 13th. My g/f can water when neeeded.

You think I'll be OK? I think I will. She just doesn't want to die. She is not growing new calyxes, hasn't in a while. Been on just water for 2weeks+

I have to run to work!!

I'll see if I can get a good closeup of a cola this afternoon

Thanks folks

pedro

I recommend that you leave her in the capable hands of your girlfriend, and wait until you get back. If the trichs are clear, I'd wait a little. And those leaves look they've still got plenty of nutes stored up in them, which can all go into more smoke.

You may not get any more bud growth, but I suspect there's more resin to come...

Did it matter, does it now? Stephen would answer if he only knew how.
Wishing well with a golden bell, bucket hanging clear to hell,

Pedro: She looks GREAT!

What a sexy Sativa lady she is...

This is exactly the pheno I would look for in a pack of Super Silver Haze beans.

Great decision that you got the beans from "Mr Nice", because Shanitbaba is the one I trust when it comes to original Greenhouse strains.

He did create this beatiful meltingpoint of Haze, Skunk and Northern Lights..

A few years ago, I bought Sensi´s White Label version of "Nevilles Haze" for around 130 Euros.

What did I get: Nice smelling, but all in all unspectacular Afghani type indica plants....

Congratulations on your grow,- I can´t wait for a smoke report..

Very good training technique marijuanamat when growing sativas  I can see that she really likes to branch! I think she might be quite yielder considering her landrace status & indoor growing :chin: Well see that at end, but as far she looks fantastico :woohoo:

Can you describe odors little? Maybe some lemony/citrus type of flavors?

Pedro: Looking very good :joint: I think you can relax and leave your gf on charge for awhile till you get back. This time will maybe & most likely give one extra resin bump up + it surely will make your weed smell & taste better! Maybe without a cure even..

Jah bless you all

Herbalistic your bang on,she's got a real nice lemon and lime scent to her at the mo and i'm hopeing she produces a good strong uplifting high and stays free from turning hermi but so far i've not spotted 1 male banana yet(touchwood).I just hope the indoor enviroment is suit's her needs since this is the first generation thats been grown indoors under lights.

Looking really nice mat, good work.

I have some Thais i grew from seeds picked from some lovely Thai sticks that were around in the UK last year, I'm growing them 12/12 from seed in tiny pots of coco to keep their size manageable. All I really want to do with them is see if there are any hermies and take clones of any true females, I'm not expecting a big harvest of Thai, just want to evaluate them, I can always go for yield later with a clone or two.

Hey everyone!

Gettin to the nitty gritty on my girls. Here is my SuperSilverHaze on Day 80 of flower. I wish I knew more about how to post those BIG pics everyone else has. She is really coated with trichomes.

How do y'all think she looks for 80 days flowering 145 days from seed.

I'll post the Skunk Haze in a few.
