hey RD, with those vaportights mounted that way, how far do they stick out from the base to the tip of the bulb?

I believe the amount of light loss is on the order of 10% when passing through a sheet of glass.

It really depends upon your situation - if you have good air movement you should not need a cool tube for a 150 - if you don't have the best air movement or wish to cut down on the amount of air you must scrub of smells then cool tubes and separate light chambers might be for you.

The thing people need to remember though is that the 150 when remote ballasted burns very cool and the plants can be very close in my experience -

that's a bare bulb 4" away from the canopy w/o issue.

wanted to just say how nice everyones grows are looking and how glad I am that folks like vintner, disco duck, reeferdan, igrowdadankest, and BRNEYDBVR are keeping the thread going strong

Ok well i doubt i will need a cooltube, but i think i'll put one in anyways so i don't have to run the blower so loudly.

I'm on my third grow now and I'll probably get a new bulb for my next grow, just to make sure that I have max light power.

And where online do they have good/decent priced bulbs ? It's not like there's that many different bulb choices for 150 watts as there is for higher watt HPS systems.

Unless somebody was buying a bunch of bulbs at once, that 10 dollar shipping is a dealbreaker I guess. I looked at that 150 bulb at econolight and it seemed to have slightly less lumens compared to the one that I linked to first.

Shipping for 1000bulbs.com is 9.36

At my local HD the 150w bulbs are like 20 bucks so i would order maybe 3-4 bulbs at a time.

hi, 150'ers ...

a look at my satori, grown in a preferted soiless mix copied from BurnOne in the organics section. eventually it seemed to want more food so i added other nutrients in on a few feedings ...





according to mandala seeds, this strain should be flowered for 9-10 weeks. this pic was taken at 7 weeks flower. it looks to me like growth has stopped at this point. it seems all my plants stall out a bit early. no idea why. even so, that big ole cola up there should produce a tidy little crop. i think i will harvest the cola and try to get the lower buds to put on some weight with additional flowering time.

another problem i had with this plant is that the fan leaves became terribly brittle. i moved the plant a bit lower to prevent heat stress, but the damage had already been done.

the flowers smell exactly like turpentine. will be interesting to see what the smoke is like.

you can see pretty good in this picture, its not much longer than a standard 150w bulb+ medium base socket, maybe an extra 1/2"-1". I'll try to get an exact measurement for you, but im away from my grow right now.



GreenGrow nice cola! i'd assume that the plant wont grow anymore at week 7 of 9, it's probably just going to swell up and mature from here. If it were me id leave the whole plant till 9 weeks (checking trics of course) and harvest it as a whole.

How big was the plant when you switched to 12/12? How tall is it now finished? That looks like a great cola! seems like it has the perfect stature for my type of grow. I need to find a plant that grows a nice big cola like that with minimal side branching. is that plant a clone from a mother or straight from seed? You said it was mandala satori correct?

Im having trouble finding quality pest/disease free clones in the cali mmj scene right now, so i might have to step up my veg cab and start some seeds and make mothers. im defineatly looking for advice on nice sog style single cola genetics that will finish nicely at around 16-18" and put out some nice weight (12+ g/ plant)

Im looking for the same style plant. Nice single cola growth that tops out about 18". This Satori pheno looks relly good.

I'm vegging 4 of Gypsy's Golden Skush (Skunk#1 x Hindu Kush) right now and they will go into flower after they show sex along with some Hashberry, Blue Moon Rocks and more Grapefruit.
The G. Skush, left untopped is supposed to grow a large cola plant. I just have to time it right, because I'm not real sure on the stretch factor.

well... I'm not really sure how long it took me, I had to make som stops to get my head together but I guess 1 week or so.

Well I have somewhat a blueprint in my head, just got to buy myself a cabinet then I'm going to tweak it. My supplements to the 150w hps right now is a 190cfm or 325m2/h blower. I think it will cool down the cabinet even if it's a small one. Well the minimum measurements will be 27,5 x 20 x 43" (L W H)

What do ya'll think?

green_grow...congratulations, that's a phat arse mofo. And at least three feet of it from the looks. That cola must be 80% of the entire plant! I'll bet you've got low humidity that's causing your fans to get crispy. Have you tried putting an open container of water in the area to raise humidity? I occasionally spray mine but I wouldn't take a chance with that masterpiece. Hell of a job +rep.

welcome slashas, that fan should be big enough. I've got 95cfm in a cab a little smaller, a speed controller set on the lowest speed. There's enough circulation in mine to suck the doors shut.

If I did the math right you'll have about 40 watts per square foot with a 150. I'm not the right one to suggest additional lighting but I've read others who shoot for at least 50 wpsf.

You're gonna like having 43" headroom, that's just about perfect when you consider things like canopy penetration and pot height, etc. My cab is only about 33" inside. If I could change one aspect, I'd go for another 10 to 12 inches headroom. Look forward to lots of pics of your grows.

You should look into bushmaster for height control. I did an experiment with it my last grow and i watered with it right efore i switched to 12/12 and the plants only stretched like 2" instead of 2x. I think itss good because im only growing in 1 gal pots, so if i were to let the plants naturally stretch i would have to transplant and then flower right away, the rootball wouldnt get a chance to fill out very much. With the bushmaster, i can veg longer in that container making more roots, then switch em to 12/12 a couple inches shy of where i want them to finish at (say at 15" soo they would finish at 18") and we all know more roots = bigger buds.

Here is a plant ( not the healthiest) the one on the left got 7 days veg, then switched to 12/12 the one on the right went 21 days veg, then got bushmaster. Check out how fatter the cola is!



at the time of the picture, the one on the left was about to get the chop and the one on the right had 2 weeks to go, so it swoll up a bunch more

I have the same problems with small pots and not enough veg time.

With my little cab.... I don't have alot of veg. area and I keep 3 mothers plus whatever is veggin'.

What do yall think is better 150watt hps or 252watt of cfls? I do want to put a 250watt hps in my cab but it already gets hot in the summer with the 250 watt cfls.
