1 Gram Per Watt?

I just grew 1.2 kilo (DRY) with a 600W? Who came up with this theory?

your question is kinda vague. what theory? 1 g/w is an efficiency measurement goal used by some growers.

at 1 g per w, 600 w would produce 600 g dry. 600 g = .6 kg =1 lb 5 O 3.5g

As I pointed out in another thread, GPW is too vague. I SOG, so my babies get no veg time. I would guess that your plants vegged for some time before hitting the 12/12 point right?

You really need to factor in how long the plants have been under light and what kind of lighting

regardless of how you grew it, 2 grams per watt is uncommon and hard to beat.

good work.

I think veg time and degrees of dryness and cure are what can account for the vast difference in GPW figures. Thats not 1.2 kilos........DRY. NOT ANYWHERE CLOSE........

Very impressive, good size reference to the TV controller.

By the time you remove the buds from the branches, and trim them, and bring the moisture content down the weight will be significantly lower. Remember water weighs, and 8 ounces (1 cup) weighs in at nearly 8.5 ounces. Personally I don't like twig snapping dry pot so my thoughts on moisture are generous.

What ever it is you are doing, don't stop!

nice harvest however that bud looks fresh cut and wet.

my bud looks much different dried than that.

either way, looks like a nice haul for a 600w.

congrats.

is 1g/watt achievable with a 1 week veg in SOG? what is considered good for SOG gardens. this grow looked great, but its a good point. maybe someone could finish 2 crops in the time it took for this one. at the same time you grew enough that it still might be more efficient.
great job

in the above picture is 2 lb 4 z 1 lb schrom on the counter your grow looks very nice but i agree with some of the comments. after its dried and manicured properly you'll notice a drop in weight. my dried buds have orange hairs and look much different then buds in your pics none the less looks very nice

If your stems don't snap and are still green, it ain't dry!! But, anyways, thats a helluva plant and harvest, especially for a 600. Good job!

(I think we all hav seen a small amount of bud that is solid as and weighs heaps, and large amounts of fluffy bud that weighs almost nothing) ... It could b more or less than 6 oz depending on how solid or fluffy that shit is lol ... bt i dnt think its quite 1.2 kilo ... especially once u cut the nugs away from the stems (if u do that, i no a lot of people dnt if its jst for personal use) ... stems, specially bigger ones, weigh A LOT, even fully dry, stems can add huge amounts to ur final weight, specially if ur like myself and use digital scales, very accurate lol.

I think 6oz is a bit low considering the size of that controller because since these buds are still on the stem, there is more 'depth' there than the picture is kinda clear of.

I'm guessing closer to an elbow than 6oz.

I always thought of it as a way to measure efficiency. If you're getting 1g/watt, most likely your setup is running at a good level, less than that and you have things to improve on. I personally never weighed my harvests all at once like that to see final yield, I end up smoking too much before it's all done to know exactly anyhow :D

Cant really measure how efficent your setup is...

For example, if I throw in 50 og kush plants they may only yield 1oz per piece under 2k watts. 1oz x 50 = 50oz x 28grams = 1400. 1400/2000 = .7

That means for every watt im harvesting .70 grams. Which by that theory would be deemed "inefficent".

However, if I were to plant 50 clones of a commercial strain (i.e.big bud, cali gold, NYCD, super skunk, ak47, etc...)

Then I would probably take in well over 1 gram per watt.

Also, your not factoring in veg time. or flower time. My kush is vegged for 10 days and finished flowering in 55 days.

Some of these people are doing 2-10wks in veg to get those numbers. By that time I would have harvested almost 3 crops...

Its all perspective and personal choice...

I just hate hearing that 1g per watt rule. Its not a rule, its hardly an exception...

But I do love seeing those ginat ass bonsai trees.

when I was young and lived at my stepdads where I could not grow, I would veg a plant in my closet from october until april and re-plant it outdoors. I use to grow this white rhino cut that was amazing, and would produce betwen 3-4lbs of sweet dried herb... damn i miss no.cal....

Im suprised my neighbors never wondered why I always dragged a 7 foot tall refrigrator box into the forest every spring :rasta:

irie meditations...

Right on, thanks for the info, I just always thought it was a generally accepted rule, but I guess yields are effected by so many factors it's not really something that can be easily estimated.
