Malawi Style Cob Curing.

Last batch of Mulanje x Malawi/Ethiopia I had some more I made yesterday but deleted the photos while high ha ha.
I will post more on my return from my fishing trip in 4 weeks they should be ready to inspect by then.
I have coblets, cobs and candy bars all in the initial stages of cure.
Small cobs are better if fatter rather than long and thin it helps them to cure better.
The candy bar is about 10mm or 3/8th of an inch thick.

That lot and some others are fermenting slowly at 30c in my shed perfect weather for sweating and cobbing.

These were out of the bag drying most of today.
Some nice aromas especially from a late hermi plant you can see the male flowers.
These are all phenos of Mulanje x Malawi/Ethiopian. I got 3 distinctly different plants, this time next year they should be ready for chewing.

First pic some 1 month aged candy bars with some 2 day old above.

Then some more 2 day old still in the plastic vacuum bag.

Then some more 2 day old candy bars and cobs all Mulanje x Malawi/Ethiopian (Ace)

@Tangwena , the colours in those two day old bar and cob are amazing, love the orange hairs! Knowing you, they will be pretty spectacular when ready... good thing you have some "supplies" to hold you over until they are?!

Yes I posted them to show what they look like when young and fresh.
I will post pics after 1 month to show them getting ready for aging and post aging to show the changes.
Currently I'm chewing 2 year old Mulanje cobbed in January 2022 and its pure bliss just energy and euphoria my favorite high ha ha.

For sure the corn skin gives a sweet aroma that I like, now I can compare the skinless and skin cobs.
I have some jar cured buds from this harvest I will dig them out and you can see the difference after a month.

Its good you have green corn wraps, I see some here at the grocery store and they are dried white so I left them there. I like the natural shape of the corn cobbed weed.

I agree @mike-or-ozzy! I like the organic shape to the cob too. I've abandoned my earlier experiments in making pretty much perfectly cylindrical cobs... although it was fun to try. I really prefer the more aux natural look . I just wish that I had thought of the fatter shape sooner, I dig them. I do have a couple that are more "stout" looking, but that was just pure coincidence. Next time, I'll plan for them! Wait, I do have a little more weed in jars from this past harvest... might need to make some more cobs! Cheers!

3 months old.. its good but ive lost that concetrated syrup aroma that was a month ago .many of the cobs i made have lost that good good aroma , i shoud have dried them better in the beginin phases

Yesterday I made my last cobs from this year's harvest.

She was taken down on the morning of January 1st.

She was hung up to dry for a week.

here's the majority of the harvest.

Send here it is again after all the stalk has been removed.

There's a strong smell of cat piss. I don't think it's one of our cats, because although they're clever, acrobatic little buggers and one of them does sometimes piss in the house, I doubt that they can jump 2mts in the air and piss at the same time.
There's also a smell of metal and a slight musty sweetness, so i'm very excited for larger in the year.

Here's the resultant cobs after 8 hrs at 40c and overnight drying in our warm living room.

There now bagged up again and will sit for a week or 2 in an alcove above the wood burner. The temperatures range from anywhere from 15-35c, or possibly even more.

So that's about it for third season's cobbing for me.
It's been a very hazy year.

Destroyer #23 x Deep chunk /Tom Hill Haze

I also haze both pheno's of Zenith and Destroyer from 2005 stock.

All in all a good result.

As a side note, @Tangwena , we both tried a small amount of 2month old, pheno 1 Zenith today; Wow, it's everything that dubi said in his description and more, but that down to the cobbing effect. In another 6 months it will be be special indeed. I hope he does it as a regular.

That first photo of the plant with the big buds and mountains in the background is so beautiful. You live in such an amazing looking location!! Is that the same plant that you posted pictures of earlier that you trained low to the ground to keep it from prying eyes? If so, she sure ended up growing beautifully! Love that closeup shot too, nice looking plant!
Anyway, great lineup of cobbed goodness there, can't wait to hear how the aromas evolve and what you think of it when you are able to test it!

I train all my plants low to a screen. Mainly because I don't want people seeing them, but partly because I was an indoor grower for over 20 yrs and scrogging is in my blood.

I'd love to be able to plant in early spring and grow some 3 or 4 meter trees.

If you have a look at my Hombre's garden thread over the last couple of years, there are many shots of the beautiful surrounding area, the coast and screen grown plants.

Our grandson is over from the UK for a few days and today we drove down to the coast for a walk. As we looked to the North we could see snow on the mountain tops, but it was warm enough to walk in short sleeves. Later in the year, if we so wished, we could go skiing in the morning and sunbathe on the breach in the afternoon. Personally, I'd just sooner ingest a silly amount of cob and lay on the beach all day.

We both feel really honoured that a 21 yr old wants to spend time with his elderly grandparents in our rustic house on the edge of a one horse mountain village/town. There's nothing here at all to do for a young person.
Tomorrow I'm taking him up into the mountains for a walk below the show line and he's so excited!

My fem was very small due to my bad cares but the wad of buds I got has a very unusual smell I have not had before.
I suspected it might have good potential, now reading your report I'm sure.
I will give it a good long age before testing in case I miss out on the good effects by trying it too soon.
Nice looking cobs brother your in for a treat once they are cured I'm sure.
I'm at my fishing camp high winds are forcing me to stay ashore and test a load of cobs I made last year ha ha.
Its sublime warm weather no crowds and nothing but heaven on earth ha ha.
Life doesn't get any better.

This morning is broken out the zamal x Tom Hill haze from the back end of 2022, so about 14 months old. This is the most lysergic of all my current cobs. Very different to what it was a year ago.

Which cure brings about the mild psychedelic results? For example I really enjoy closed eye visual with the shifting geometric shapes and patterns. I realize one has to start out with the proper strain, but does the length sweat time affect this attribute?
