The way people in different countries deal with street cats tells you a lot about them. In Turkiye, they were universally healthy and cared for. Here is a little girl's cute reaction to a street cat in Istanbul outside of the Archaeological Museum.

Squirrels just mock my cats. The cats don't even lift a tail anymore when the see them.
I live way up on a mountain & I open the backdoor in my kitchen every morning...but keep the screen door shut so that my cats can look out at the wildlife. It's become a habit & they won't leave me alone until I've done this each day.

Foxes, squirrels, opossums, raccoons & chipmunks come right up to the screen door and mock my cats because they have learned that the cats cannot get to them. It's funny to watch. Especially the chipmunks. Long ago I began putting food out so that the animals will always be there every morning. It's good entertainment.

i put sunflower seed out for the birds and squirrels. my idiot cat goes nuts watching them through the window. found out the kids and my wife have been letting her out when i'm not paying attention. now, she's killed a squirrel and a gorgeous little woodpecker the last few days.:badday:

I began putting out just dry cat food & most of the animals loved that to my surprise...then I began buying huge bags of dried peanuts in the shell & that became popular also. It's the chipmunks favorite. They will stay & eat a few and then load up their cheeks with as many as they can fit in and then haul ass...but not before mocking my cats though.

i can't make up my mind whether to get rid of the cat, or my wife and kids. :whistling: at the moment, we have compromised. the cat can go out after dark when the birds and tree rats are safely asleep. i like cats, but i'd rather have the critters up close and personal . i'm not sure WTF is wrong with these city squirrels i have. they'll hop right over an ear of corn & shove peanuts aside to get to black oil sunflower seed. won't eat corn or peanuts at all... :dunno:

My girlfriend has a sign that says we had to get rid of the kids because the cat was allergic.

Also I wonder if any studies have been done with city squirrels. There was one done showing city birds are more aggressive than the ones out in more wilderness settings.

I don't remember if it was a type of bird or all of them in a given range though.
