Mezzo Mix sucks. It's like watered down cola. Bought it once as super expensive import soda, could have got many cans of much better Coke or Pepsi for the same price! Well at least two. Never again (never say never).

Today I ate hot dogs. Long sausage, small buns. Freud away.
you don´t need long and huge testicles !

I used to love mezzo as a child but haven´t had it since. You can make it yourself by mixing coke (not pepsi) and fanta.

I also used to enjoy a shandy from time to time but this stuff isn´t sold over here.

There's whole pigs' heads on sale in town at the moment for .97 cents USD per lb.

I know the jowls and top of the head at the neck are choice meats, but what about the rest?

Ideas for cooking? What about the tongue? Eye balls? Brain? Not being facetious.

folks (esp southern folks) eat nearly everything but the hair and squeal. i see pickled pigs feet in stores. i know that dog treat makers use the ears & penis ; ears dried as chew toys, dicks pickled & dyed green to mark them as "not edible for humans" lol. tongue and brains considered a delicacy to those that eat them. i would try tongue, after eating deer heart. good stuff! i dunno 'bout brains... :shucks: "IF" i was going to try, i'd treat the brains like corned beef hash & mix them in with scrambled eggs after frying them.

Thanks.

I've seen the ears in the feed stores as chew toys.

I'll turn to Google for the use of brains, eyes, etc.

We made head cheese when I was living in the Yukon Territory in '77, but other than that, no immediate ideas. And the memory of the gelatinous head cheese in bread loaf pans in the walk-in fridge isn't all that appealing at this point.

a meal like that would kill a lesser man than you, moose. way to take one for the team!!! :good: :thank you::bow:
It became both a late lunch and dinner.

Holidays aren't good for me in numerous ways.

Tomorrow for lunch/dinner is roast, stuffed domestic duck with wild rice and short-grain brown rice stuffing, with celery, onion, water chestnut, and andouille sausage in the stuffing, giblet gravy with golden spuds, and more salad.

A mine field of excess good eats. Western civilization problems; "WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH ALL OF THIS FOOD!!"

You could cook it as a whole, would be a traditional oldschool new years eve's dish in austria. Best to cook with lots of vegetables until u can pull out the jawbone. Or wrap it in foil and toss it in the oven so it could steam in its own juices. Cheeks and tongue are considered the best parts but i only like the cheeks because the rest is very very chewy but some like that texture.
Never had the eyes but the brain is very good but has a skin and is best prepaired seperat like blanch, ice water, de skin, bread and deep fry.

I'm having some resistance in talking my wife into this as a post-holiday feed.

I told her that your explanation of the brain prep sounds remarkably like blanching and peeling of tomatoes for stewing or canning, which are much more red than brain tissue in color. Can't imagine what the hang-up is.? :)

Average whole pig's head I saw in the store freezer was about $14 USD.

-----------------------------

Having boneless, skinless chicken thigh meat with potato hash for brunch, with sweet peppers, onions, celery, home-fried golden potatoes, and Cholula Hot Sauce, made with green hot peppers.

I passed on the offering of ketchup (tomato sauce for you Ozzies), as I'm trying to be at least a little bit more kind to the bleeding acute gastritis, and the hot sauce in moderation was as far as I was willing to go at tormenting it.

But a meat and spud hash without any deluxe hot sauce? Like diving into an empty swimming pool to cool off. Just wrong.

Another bowl of duck soup, with a 2/3 of an uncured cheddar and beef kielbasa on a single slice of sprouted seeds and grains whole grain bread, with no-sugar-added ketchup. A half of a sea salt and caramel Keto chocolate covered ice cream bar, and a berry flavored seltzer water.

Ought to be plenty for a late night dinner.

half a korean pear, mango, banana shake with soy milk, for breakfast

for lunch: cevapcici in a pepper bell sauce, salad and some roasted potatoes. And
eventually a cuppa and oat cookies.

PS.It´s so unusually warm considering that it´s january that I´m almost having a hard time finishing my pre-cooked frozen winter dishes. It´s pretty odd really.

But I do need to empty it by...a few weeks before easter so I can defrost the freezer. Oh well, that´s still about 4 months and the temperatures may well take a dip again, right? It´s so hard to predict these things nowadays...
