Whatever happens - its gonna be interesting - to say the least - some of these guys I haven't seen in a decade or more - so there will be lots of catching up on who has been doing what etc - then we can get to the 'meat of the matter' - and start asking the harder breeder questions - with who did what with what clone/seed etc -

- and to get some movement in the various segments - I think that doing Amsterdam on a bicycle - and filming getting around that way should suffice - should be fun too - so long as I don't end up under a tram -

From Soma I would like to hear about the lineage of New York City Diesel and Amnesia Haze as there are conflicting opinions online.

For NYCD the official description is:
Mexican Sativa – Afghani
The NYC Diesel has its roots in the Big Apple, a friend brought the seeds and said that it was the best pot he ever smoked, he had dreads down to the ground so I believed him.

So does Soma believe the dread's favorite was East Coast Sour Diesel, or some other diesel? How does this relate to the Mexican Sativa - Afghani description? Soma believes the diesel was Mexican, and crossed it with an Afghani? Or vice versa?

For Amnesia Haze the official description is:
Haze
Amnesia Haze is a very complicated genetic cross. You have the magnificent Southeast Asian genetics (Thai sticks, Cambodian, Laotian) of which were my all time favorites. Then you have the fine Jamaican Haze varieties with their high THC percentage and sharp flavor. It also has an Afghani-Hawaiian genetic crossed in, speeding up the flowering time and further enhancing the taste.

Is the Southeast Asian/Jamaican Soma's assessment on what the background of Original Haze is? Is the Haze used in Amnesia Haze same as the Amnesia that is a staple in Dutch coffeeshops and around Europe or something else? What can he tell us about the Afghani-Hawaiian?

Also it seems like all of his G13 Haze hybrids have been discontinued, why?

This haze talk also raises a question for Sam Skunkman:

The ancestry of Original Haze was long thought to be various exotic NLD varieties. More recently the consensus seems to be that it is mainly, if not entirely, Colombian. Has some new information been revealed that has caused this change? From the Bros or from DNA analysis?

Fair questions goinggrey, it's important not to turn a interview into a interrogation. If I am reading correctly do you want to ask why are the original descriptions different to the ones today?

I think asking Soma these questions on these two would be a waste of time as Soma can talk the hind legs of a donkey. Much more important to ask him about specifics regarding the original releases because these are the strains in ones mind people are referring too and not the updated versions today.

Those are the current descriptions. I don't think they have changed over the years.

They do leave a lot of room for interpretation. Which is fine for a short catalogue description. But it would be great to get more details for the enthusiasts. Especially since the "interpretations" have been so varied.

True. They haven't

As Soma didn't make original diesel he can only speak to what he knows from a bag seed.

Diesel has Sam's Skunk #1 > Mexican is a key component of Skunk 1. Which could really only mean the Mexican Sativa was specific phenotype found from bag seed named "DIESEL" fair point on clarification on that.

The Afghani part is Hawaiian Indica male from Shanti, again not sure how Soma can answer that as it was from Shanti who Got it from Nev who got it from Roger.

I'm sure Gypsy will do a stellar job, looking forward to the series

Not trying to cause trouble but Original Diesel and Sams Skunk 1 are worlds apart and completely different directions , of course Afghan in both but completely different Afghan selections used knowhere near each other at all.

Skunk 1 is the European selection/ strain made by Sam

Original Diesel is made from the Chemdog family lineage

None taken at all. I mean this is what Soma can clarify by what he meant by Mexican Sativa.

I read that as a he believes he got a Mexican Phenotype from "Diesel" bag seed. The only Mexican in Diesel comes from Skunk #1

I would like to know about their feeds. I'm guessing they have a standard they use for the bulk of their selection work. So are picking plants that work with that standard feed. Replicating the breeders grow is a big step towards getting their result.
For the longest time I have auditioned plants in my environment. That is the environment they need to live in. Some perfectly good plants are no good to me as they don't work with my recipe. I won't change that recipe as it supports other plants well, and I won't take from peter to give to paul. I actually know other peoples rooms and what works for them, so at times I don't want the new plant, but know who does.

Soil.. hydro.. These questions are how we copy them the closest.

Ideally a breeder would be selling me a range of plants, with feeding guidance. They may even get commission. They should of found their cash cropping queen and run her enough to of figured how she differs from the average needs. Is she a P hog for instance. Does she want over or under 200ppm K. Which can make or break some plants.
This can become a system, where like the big players, they can sell you the seeds and tell you how to grow them. That is what I would like to be paying for.

Sam Skunkman: Every time your controversial name comes up in conversation, the conversation jumps to "legalization is a good thing".

I've never understood this connection. Could you shine some light on how the skunk eradication program helped usher in the legalized version of Cannabis, where everything smells like soap and doesn't cure medical ailments like it once did, when it smelled like thiols instead of soap and fruit peels?

I hope you find the medicine for your ailments even if it's not what's popular with rec users right now.

Question for Sam, and for others as well if you see it fit, "which is their prefered curing method for bud, and why?"

@goingrey ,how's it going? I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a business story... The Nevil Schoenmakers
"SUPER SILVER HAZE" was created before then after the "amnesia haze" from soma came out and have a same smell...
But you never know maybe mr. soma asked NEVIL SCHOENMAKERS how it was created and he did he similar version. soma seems like a truthful guy to me.

Haze has always been colombian... Sam just tried to be transparent by mentioning how they also tried Ohaze x Thai..... Ohaze x Kerala.... and people interpreted things in their own way. Overlooking the fact that he always said OHAZE x blank... hence Ohaze x Thai doesnt = Ohaze... Reminds me of how people loosely interpret a famous book, and mold their perceptions on their own narratives.

Id really like to hear a bunch of stories of the good times... The golden era perhaps.... Stories of strains they wish they never lost... Strains and buds they have searched for over the ages.... Effects they experienced one time and have searched for since..... The most fun events, or situations they had meeting people... Or travels to get seeds/meet people...

Their favorite routines, or what they considered their peak lifestyle/routines...... The most fun gardening times they had, or best systems/routines and situations they were in for growing and breeding..

Also maybe ask for some tips on being neat/orderly, and organizing a good breeding program... Things to search for in plants, and traits or behaviors to recognize in quality plants or unique cannabinoids.
