All I know is when mr nice seeds first released ssh it was released as ssh upgraded....im sure I remember nevil still being part owner of one of ghs coffee shop still in 1998-1999 and the old shh was still being supplying under nevils watch an was different to ssh upgraded....both were being put out .....nevils even won the cup again....im sure in a recent interview shanti gives the game away when he talks about the old ssh and the original c5 parent nevil used to use to make the original versions...an how the parent after was different......im sure even arjan years back brought up the fact thar mr nice ssh was first launched as ssh upgraded an questioned wat the upgrade was...there must be others still around who seen this too..not sure wat went on after cuz it looked like the modern ssh kept developing.
Quote from arjan.
####### also claims to have upgraded the SSH. In fact he calls himself “the father and mother of the White Widow and Super Silver Haze” in the Italian Dolce Vita magazine. Really? Wow.
How could have ###### upgraded the Super Silver Haze that Neville had created and that was so good to have won three cups in a row (’97, ’98, ’99)? What did he make better? Isn’t that the funniest thing?

That's interesting.

Does anyone have a photo of a seed pack or catalog (or anything) of SSH Upgraded?

The oldest mention of Mr Nice Seeds SSH I can find is from January 2001 from seedsdirect.to. This is only 1-2 years into MNS existence (started sometime in 1999). At this time it was just called Super Silver Haze - without the "upgraded".

The description from back then also did not mention an upgrade:

Super Silver Haze said:
A champion of champions since winning its hat-trick at the 1997, 1998, and 1999 High Times Cannabis Cups and comprising the most commercial strains known to the uncivilized world: Skunk, NL and Haze. Such achievements confer an undoubtedly regal pedigree.

It's an excellent breed for those who wish to possess the stash of stashes and leaves one gasping for reality. Expect harvest in 8-10 weeks with top yields (450-550g/m2) and heavy resin production. In the northern hemisphere completion date would be expected by late October; in the southern hemisphere, late May/June.

This complex hybrid is in the cutting edge in practical Haze hybrids, designed to astound the grower and consumer alike. Recommendation is unnecessary as most people can't see the Haze for their daze.

MNS packs back then were apparently green:

That had to be some of the best marketing in the world I learned about it to the high times trifecta and then when I read this I was like “I got to have this”

I never saw Super Silver Haze being called Super Silver Haze- Up graded until recently. I tried to find the post as i did stumble on it by Shanti and i am sure that is a inbreed version of SSH.

May of been a project shantis doing i dont know but you wont find Super Silver Haze being celled Super Silver Haze- Up Graded in any post Nevil made or any post made by shanti referring to the SSH Nevil breed and past on to Shanti.

Post away mate i like the look of the plant.Did you start her off and flower her indoors then take her out side or did she go out as a clone and flower under natural conditions.

Haze is a hybrid mate and can express its self in a few ways key part to growing is what your left with in your mull bowl.

.....im sure shanti only had about 15 of what he calls the old ssh (nevils f1 ssh) to look for parentals recently.

Actually he had an auction for like 1gram of old SSH seeds listed last year I think they went for like 300. He said the germination rate was low.

Hi harvestreaper its hard to say if you look at the old Mexican lines of that era they were all sativas the flowers were real airy and the plants that i have seen in old films looked no different in veg to a Thai or a Colombian. The thread in icmag that has lots of pictures of the old flowers from Thailand / Mexico / Colombia / Africa so on is proof of that.

Nice if you guys found a nice haze that will mature out doors in the UK.

i hear you thats were i differ,,, dont claim to be an expert but from old pics i seen thru my years i say not only she look mexican she a classic stereotype mexican lol but what do i know lol i remember the plants being heavier budded with pointy buds columbians an thais much closer to the haze stereotypes longer thinner leaf airier buds like you say altho the lumbos appeared slightly heavier than thais i guess its pretty much impossible to determine the varuis genetics introduced / used accurately in places like columbia mexico could be huge variations thru a nation
as to the haze they cant finish here in uk unless light dep or you add auto genes like in this white audrey

These THH def are light feeders. Even at 1ec im getting a bit of tip burn. If I go lower ill need to mix up there own feed.

Yes mix up their own feed. I tried just watering it down but that is not the way to do it and still had issues as you loose your proper macro/micro ratios that way. I am about to flip and in ebb Flo hydroton and even thought they are turning into small bushes this time most are showing slight tip burn at .8ec (was at 650ppm on 700 scale) I dropped to 580ppm looking a bit better but still not down to .7ec.

So far the hydro route is not as bad as I expected but I am still concerned how things will go once I flip. Still going to keep feed down so long as I don't see any yellowing or other deficiencies. They look pretty good just the longer flowering ones seem to want less feed.

When i say Thai or Colombian even Mexican i mean lines that come out of this regions in the 70s or 80s before the dutch seed lines made there way to these places.

Their looking good Hammer but this is what i was talking about with Haze and Sativas and some sativa hybrids being very different to more indica leaning hybrids in flower with feeding nutrients.

A little shade leaf tip burns okay but it will start on the flower leaf next if it gets worse then the flowers.

I dont look at or worrie about EC all i care about is if my water is a 7pH and then follow the nutrient formula instructions.

Then as i see this start i reduce the nutrient mix to half strength. They may be fine for weeks and then you may then need to go to 1/2 strength feeding and then drop to a 1/4 nutrient mix even.

Hammers had those going for a good bit so I think its could be a matter of buildup over time. They looked perfect last week. Wonder if/when he may have increased the ec?

They have a long way to go in flower still Lost and if you flush them watch what happens. The tip burn will become worse if you dont dial the plant or plants in with the right feeding mix. You need to work out what feeding they like. Not all plants from a heavy sativa hybrid will feed the same just like not all sativas will.

The 2 mullum fems both needed different feeding strengths as did the Nevil's haze at one point i had 3 different feeding strengths happening this is the reality of growing sativas hydroponically.

You dont have these problems when your Growing them directly in the ground.

Every feeding i do i allow and want run off from my buckets there is no build up and how can you have build up in a pot each time you water your watering from the top down.

In a Flood and drain set up or a NFT set up you should be well i did cleaning and changing your rez weekly.

Any way i will let you guys work it out.

Have you tried keeping the same EC level but lowering the amount of Nitrogen?
The ACE Seeds boys have been advising people to use lower N level when growing their OT Haze, and that’s what i have been doing when growing sativa/Haze leaning plants. I grow with BioBizz nutrients in soil and i have been feeding my sativa leaning plants less Grow component (nitrogen heavy) right from the start compared to indica leaning plants.
