Honestly, I WANT all the deniers to get sick. I want them to be confronted with incontrovertible evidence of their own idiocy. I want them to SUFFER for the effect their science-denying, Trump-worshiping bullshit has had on the rest of us.

If the population of COVID-deniers & anti-vaxxers encounter their own self-induced ends, property values will drop, food shortages will be less frequent, smog from traffic will decrease, and things, in general, will improve..

Before vaccinations for C-19 were available, folks who were trying to remain safe were put at risk by those who ignored safety protocol.

Now, with many persons who want a vaccination being able to get them, and nearly all current deaths and hospitalizations for C-19 being the unvaccinated, I'd say karma has come home to roost.

So, aside from needing to get boosters every X number of months to keep protection current, the prospect of watching the deluded among us indirectly offing themselves, it all leaves me a bit optimistic where concepts like 'just desserts' are concerned.

Most persons I've seen spouting the pseudo-science supporting anti-vaxxing and denying the reality of COVID-19 in general, tend to fall into the category of persons I'd label as, 'beings I could live mo' better without'.

Ought to be a good decade for making lots of popcorn, and watching this circus unfold.

I've been monitoring the "graphs" since the beginning of this shit show... We had a major cluster fuck at our border here last week. Why can the rest of the Maritimes enjoy "free pratique" in the bubble, whilst NB has to wait another 2 weeks? Duh, to see the results of your "pan Canada" wide reopening. I would have placed a 3 week restriction on them. Why? Yes we will see an uptick within 2 weeks (it has happened every frigging long WE since the pandemic started) but it is at the 3 week mark that tells the story. According to the experts, when we see a spike, it should come down as fast as it went up e.g you have good tracing and testing to isolate the outbreak and get it under control. ETA: Look what happened to the ski resort in BC, after everyone decided hey, skiing is safe. Not!

After holding their numbers in check for 1.25 years, long-time friends in the Yukon Territory informed me this last week that they were experiencing an explosion of cases, purported to be correlated to graduation parties, and many of the youngsters apparently feeling optimistic about being eligible for vaccinations. 90+ effectiveness (Pfizer & Moderna) is better than no %. There was a report last week or so of the 2 delta variant deaths in Alberta. In the beginning all they stated was one was a dble vaccinated woman, the other not vaccinated (for whatever reason). A few days later we got the data. The double vaccinated woman was 90 yrs old and had underlying conditions. The outbreak was in an old folk's home where 9 (residents and staff) were tested positive.

I don't remember who the dude (doctor) was, he was in epidemiology, during an interview... When asked what the new normal looked like, he said I want you to think of the smallpoax pandemic which took us 20 yrs to eradicate. Now mind you, in those days it took longer to develop a suitable vaccine etc... However, although "eradicated" there is still to this day smallpoax deaths. Viruses are here to stay, think of the common cold/flue that's takes thousands of life every year. Its a part of life, and so it will be with this one as well.

Now! Florida refusing proof of vaccination for the cruise industry, is nothing short of "total recklessness". How short our memories are to what happened when the SHTF, cruising in circles at sea, the virus spreading amid precautions (they didn't know at the time the virus was aerosolized). Nobody would allow them to dock.

I was on a 11 day Caribbean cruise in fall '09 on the Millenium (Celebrity) during the H1N1 outbreak. Long and short, anyone with flue like symptoms were landed during the following port of call. Usually the following day and, you were on your own to sort yourself out, to make your way home. Having spent most of my life at sea, there are several countries I wouldn't visit as a "civy" without my floating embassy in port.

I was disappointed in both carnival and Celebrity for cow towing to Desantis. I would have found another POC to steam from. Seattle is fully complying with proof of vaccination requirements. The cruise industry brings in boat loads of money $$$$$, they had the upper hand, they flinched! It is not easy to do "the right thing"... Money talks and BS walks!

Experts continue to tell us it is the Rnot, that decides when it is time to relax certain restrictions etc... not a date on the calendar.

New Brunswick's chart is problematic because of that large plateau. This is where one should be exercising caution and... from there, monitor closely to see what is going to transpire. In defense of NB, their border with Que remained open since the beginning for essential workers.

Alberta was another hot spot, but their graph does show they had some good protocols in place. The saddle indicates 400 cases/day. The lowest of all largely populated centers.

The maritimes have a good sense of community. I am originally from Mtl. I chose to retire in the maritimes because of that sense of community. Our successes are testament of us bearing down in the fight and pulling together. Like most provinces, all cases can be related to travel. IMO ports of entry (airports) need to be doing their job. More importantly, idiots need to follow protocols and not circumvent testing and self isolation when you are supposed to. e.g rearranging your flights so you can merely cross a bridge back into the country.

So when 3 out of 4 provinces exercised due diligence with their reopening, yeah, we are pissed against NB. In a democracy, majority rules. We all suffered, we mustered all our will to bring this shit under control. We had a large community spread that was brought under control, because we all played a part in it. Notwithstanding the vaccine played and extremely important role and that is reflected in the charts for all countries that have an effective vax program.

The comment I was responding to started with the phrase”speaking of population reduction” and no one was talking about population reduction, so i really wasn’t sure what you were referring to. I was just supplying the math to show how small of a number it was. Not to be too rude disrespectful, but half the time I have no idea what you are really saying.

I suspect no one knows what the actual population count is right now. In highly populated hard hit areas like India and throughout South America so many people have died at home, it’s become extremely difficult to track the number of deaths. And if people around the world spent their time in lockdown making babies, that really shouldn’t surprise anyone.

In another thread, it was suggested that the world’s population will eventually peak at 11 billion people. I can’t argue with the logic that was presented. I’d be happy to look for the source if you are interested.
