They were sold on Seedbay, from a fellow grower, in the Spring.
Originally from RSC, a few years ago,
I believe these are open-pollinated reproductions.

There is a lot of love and romance involved in finishing a long flowering sativa. Many of us older guys remember laughing so hard our sides or faces hurt from smoking the old sativas. Although the hybrids of today are much stronger in total THc they seem to have lost the zany out-of-control qualities that we all enjoyed back then, of even the cheap Mexicans. Weed that was as little as $10 for a lid (A lid was really an undefined amount, that was basically supposed to be an ounce, but rarely ever was). You would have to smoke more than one hit of that stuff, but the high was so much more fun. Not just the laughing, but the spaced out adventurous qualities as well. And I know, that is why this very thread exist. I am just stating the obvious to anyone that would subscribe to this thread. When people laugh about the old stoners of the 70s being all spaced out it was the sativas that did that. The weed now days is more sedating and perhaps even paralyzing.

The high I remember of the old reddish colored Thais was an intense high that really stood far above all else that was offered at the time. I would argue that all the good old Thai was stronger than anything else available at the time, it really made you cough, and from the resin, not because it tasted like shit One hit in a bong you would have a long coughing spasm and once the smoke cleared you were all dreary eyed and stoned. The Thai back cost a lot more than all of it's contemporaries. As time passed by, Thai was sold loose in bags, was darker (chocolate colored) and nowhere near as strong as the redder, earlier versions. In fact I would guess that the Chocolate Thai was actually Mexican, and indeed I seen a lot of it priced to sell in San Diego in the early 80s. I have not seen the red stuff since the late 70s and I have seen a shit ton of weed. I feel that it is gone for good.

I have been caught up in the romance and spent ungodly sums of time to try to finish a sativa, only to be sorely disappointed. It is gone.

Indeed... even hundreds of years ago, when the first sinsemilla uses in Bengal in the India (Bengal=Bhang Land) were recorded, they had the poddars or ganja-doctors, who would visit the field many times as the plants matured in order to remove the males and intersex plants that could lower the quality of the crop.

Excerpt from "REPORT ON THE CULTIVATION AND USE OF GÁNJÁ (Calcutta 1893)".

I can definitely imagine why the Indian ganja was one of the finest that ever existed and how they spreaded their knowledge of the plant worldwide.

I know I'm really late...but about that Poddar thing, thank you, alot is cleared up with that. In Jamaica, the master of the ganja who does that SAME PARTICULAR job is called a CHEMIST, and just as how it is singled out as a job, it is done so in Jamaica, as greater proof that our Ganja culture is almost exclusively Indian in it origins.

They need flowering on 10 hours light 14 dark you get big fat dense buds and the flower time , instead of 24 weeks it's more like 16 to 18 totally top shelf compared to 12/12 with pure sativas

Probably a lot... in fact nowadays most southern thai weed is actually grown in Cambodia.

Northern most likely grown in Lao or NE areas.

:tiphat:

Thanks for the information, I asked as a friend gave me some red string Thai stick & another piece with gold string...he told me that they actually came from Cambodia.

I germinated 2 seed that I found :tiphat:

Unfortunately I lost the seeds I had collected,,,most of the weed smelled of chocolate or coffee,,, might have made a nice cross ,,, I love the old chocolope from 06,,,is chocolate diesel made with Thai,,,the cookies has a nice chocolate flavour in the background too,,,, love love love that chocolate flavour in weed,,,shame I lost them seeds, taming it might have been fun

stuff like that is still around rick ,
its generally laos or cambodian though ,
not much is grown in thailand ..

some of it is pretty good ,
a friend of ours kept seed from one of the red string sticks , (super laos hehe) said it was the most potent sativa he has had ,
and he is no stranger to strong sativa ...
