Old thread but I do have some information about beating PC.
Had a prostatectomy in '06. Positive margins and peri-neural invasion.

Had a biological recurrence after 18 months.
      Gleason of 7-8.
A friend brought me a Rick Simpson DVD.
I laughed my ass off. Talk about stupid wishful thinking.

Conventional treatments all had the same outcome. :(
So, I figured I'm quite fond of the side effects, it can't kill me, what have I got to lose?
Happy to say that it started working immediately!

Not talking remission, yet, but I have increased the "doubling rate" from 6 months to several years.

Most PCs are slow growing. That is why treatments like chemo and radiation are ineffective. They kill cells that divide rapidly like most cancers and sadly, hair, heart muscles, intestinal lining, etc.

An Iso extraction from cannabis, RSO, can slow the doubling rate to the point that one will die of old age before the PC even gets rolling.
I did the Internet knowledge course of ramping up to a gram per day. Charted my PSA reading and got significant slowing.

Of course I resembled a zombie according to the wife. Went back over my chart and saw that the results were better as I was ramping up, then were less effective on high dosage.

Makes sense. All meds have an optimal dosage. It follows a bell curve.

So I re-watched the original Rick Simpson video before the internet got a hold of it.
His cancer success patients took about a "grain" of rice sized glob of "dirty oil" per day.
(By dirty oil I mean Crappy weed, fan leaf, stems, etc., extracted with room temperature naphtha.)

Naptha is very hard to purge so I use 99% Isopropyl alcohol.
I weigh about 90 Kilos so I started using 180 mg. of oil per day.
      That's 2 mg. per Kg.
I got impressive slowing. Doubling went from 6 months to well over 18 months.

Dropped the dosage again to 120 mg per day and slowed it even more.
I was testing every 6 months because that is all Medicare will pay for.
I was expecting an 8 -10 point increase for that 6 month period.

My most recent test was delayed until 9 months because of Covid.
During that period my PSA increased by only 0.4 ng. per ml.!
Let me repeat that for those of us that are "medicated".
Increase of 0.4 ng. in a nine month period!

Woohoo! That is more than slow enough to ignore prostate cancer and get on with my life.

Now I am playing with the dosage to see if I can get remission.
      Greedy ain't I?

Taking 150 mg. for the next 6 months. Depending on the result, I will go higher or lower for the next test period. I'll keep ya'll posted.
Might even start a new thread if anyone actually reads this.

Neat to hear of the results. A thread would be useful and encouraging for those with similar
        circumstances in the future.
Real shortage of well documented cases where cannabis has been useful.
Kidney cancer for me, surgery at stage four and it "escaped the margins".
Was offered chemo which I declined. Sent home for "nature to take it course"
back in 2002, with a lot of opiates.
Dumped them and went with extract that I made.
Been a fan of oil since the early seventies, so extract was not an issue for me.
I went with much higher dosages, but I was also using it to suppress pain.
Never expected cannabis to make it go away, but it has allowed me to keep
going way way beyond what I had ever expected or hoped for.
Have lung cancer now, and it is what it is, but cannabis extract and a vegan diet,
and off label approaches to dealing it has kept me going so far.
        Really neat reading your experiences.
Given the overall toxic nature of our society, often wondered if it might be a
good idea for all to be taking a low dose of extract as a prophylactic.
        That which matters most

Medicinal mushrooms...assists your t cells to get really active and mop up any crap that is not supposed to be there..supporting therapy to the cannabinoids, which kill the cancer cells, the t cells then clear them out..the mushrooms also have cancer inhibiting compounds in them..I am immune to tick bite fever and colds etc since being on the medicinal mushrooms for over ten years. I was exposed to many covid infected people over the last ten months and took antibody tests recently, negative for antibodies, thats really active tcells for you, the bodies bouncers, doesn't let things get their foot in the door nevermind throw a party uninvited.

I do not recommend using iso, as it is inherently toxic and all the solvents liquid at room temps are bitches to purge, even with vacuum ovens, leaving then under warm vacuum for days! So rather use relatively non toxic solvents like ethanol or ethyl acetate denatured ethanol or good old clean butane and then combine purged extract with coconut oil for good absorption and to stop stoners raiding your stash of oil for joints. One can use a bain marie and after ethanol is seemingly gone, series of hot distilled water washes/soaks of your oil in bain marie to draw out most of the residual ethanol, if you dont have a vacuum chamber/warm plate or vacuum oven..I've even had sensitive patients before have toxic and adverse effects from food grade ethanol left behind in extracts so I cant stress proper purge techniques and use of correct solvents strongly enough.

Also refined sucrose and fructose as far as I know fuel bad bacteria and cancers. Red meat as much as I love it too..any meat produced with hormones I'd avoid..

Yeah, reishi, shiitake, lions mane mushroom, enoki, oyster, agaricus and turkey tail etc..some medicinal mushrooms are edibles too, all as far as I know edible mushrooms are medicinal...some like reishi are too tough to eat and you brew a strong tea of them on the stove in a stainless steel pot..Those mushrooms saved my life a long time ago, I'd not be here to tell you about them if they did not work..

                      Aloha,
                      Wee Zard
                      Thanks Weez.

Time goes on. I'm back for now, though for how long, who knows?

Yours is a name I look back on with some degree of respect and fondness here. Thanks for being the 'you'. I re-registered after reading your post herein, quoted above.

Yesterday sucked. Got a call last Friday from my urologist's staff, telling me they were moving up my post-biopsy appt. by a week, and that he'd gotten results back via telephone.

My wife, son, and maybe another tend to be purposeful optimists. I'm a realist, but with insight. Or so I like to believe.

The fact that his office called on a Friday afternoon, and the staff had no idea of results, with the Doc being unavailable, was like getting a certified letter with legal consequences at 5:30 P.M. on a Friday; nothing to do but sweat it out 'til Monday, and try not to let the stress make me more of prick than I've typically grown to be, where intolerance for unnecessary BS is concerned.

Went in on Monday, and... you guessed it... and so did I.

Your comment re. the typical speed of prostate cancer growth is USUALLY correct. But not always.

Seems Murphy still likes to screw with me.. Faster (but not the fastest) and aggressive cancer, with a Gleason score of 8. May or may not have spread to other organs or bones; yet to be discovered.

First part of visit I was naturally rolling with the punches; auto pilot state that allows persons to joke under stress. talked about Docs I've hated, and those I care for, and why.

Mortality and those gifts that teach humility, like knowing there will always be those things in life that don't seek your permission or approval, and serve what ever up to you, asking, "How do you like me now??!!"

Still trudging down the path of the Buddhist lessons re. things we can and can't control, anger at the Cosmos for broken hearts, dreams, etc.

As I left the office I asked if I owed them anything at that time. They replied I didn't. My eyes watered.

Sat in my car for a bit, the snub-nosed stainless .357 next to me, under the coat (It's winter here now).

Thought a bullet to my head would cause a ceasing of the medical bills to come. This shit never seems to launch itself at a person at the BEGINNING of a calendar year, which would otherwise help to afford getting everything done with ONE maximum out-of-pocket cash expenditure/accrual. BASTARDS!!

Thought briefly about the unfairness to my younger son, and somewhat my wife, as well, though both of their presence in my mind, tempered my thoughts toward faster more permanent resolution.

Bullets are graphic. I've cleaned up those messes before. The images, smells, and more, stay with a person forever.

CO gas is the way. Kevorkian had it down, if in a Country that doesn't honor death with dignity and self-direction.

                      But not quite yet...

Took a day to feel anything but surrendered and tired. With heart-break from other family relationships (estranged children) hovering daily, and more, I told my wife that after all these years, "I'm JUST F'ING TIRED OF EVERYTHING TURNING INTO A STRUGGLE SO F'ING OFTEN.."

Another night of broken sleep (5 decades since a good night's rest), and I hit the ground running this A.M. A bit of new energy.

Made calls, got labs done for pre-procedure stuff, and am scheduled for what (if approved by the insurance co.) will be a series of various imaging tests to see if the stuff has expanded its horizons, and hit other parts of the body. Rapid-fire learning curve in motion..

By the end of the week, or maybe into early next week, I should have a better idea of what ever path seems most hopeful. None of them shine with rainbows, lollipops, unicorns, and smiley faces. A matter of choosing the most profitable to life and enjoyment, which might also include letting the stuff take its course, and finding bigger and better lake trout to catch with my son, until the unavoidable end result makes itself present.

Did more reading over the last day or so; THC extracts and efficacy in treating prostate cancer, making THC extract suppositories, outcomes for various interventions for prostate cancer scenarios, and more. Lots of conflicting accounts, depending on who you're reading from. But like I used to say, when in need, and you have only one bullet left, use it.

At the moment, I have 3 or 4 remaining in the proverbial belt.

I recently had talked with family about my concerns re. outliving my German Shepherd and other pups here, as I've had dogs all my life, and loathed the prospect of going through yet another best friend's departure. Seems maybe the Cosmos was listening, and figured it might need to tune me up a bit with some reality testing...

I've got about 4 quarts on-hand of 95%/190 proof Everclear from various sources, so extract via more acceptable solvents is ready to go. I can get chipped cacao butter 9hard, and in smaller fragments) at the local co-op, though local sourcing for suppository molds is not happening. What was worse, was the mild sense of ridicule at some of the pharmacies when I asked. As though I had some bizarre fetish or something. I didn't appease them with any explanations, and figured I'd simply let them be assholes.. suffering their own ignorance in public view. Best thing to do with fools, is to let them demonstrate their afflictions.

Had a harvest a bit ago, with a fair bit sitting here for making my medicinal oil(s), though in retrospect, my attraction to Sativas and Hazes may not be in my best interest for current needs. We'll see. Some of the more recent additions to the harem have some Indica in their blood, though it's mostly of Nepali roots, courtesy of Bodhi, and several of his specimens I have now.

In the end, it is what is is, as I said a year ago. Yin & f'ing Yang..

Here we go again. Maybe if I get it right in this life, the path can change some the next go-'round.

Back, but not in the same way as once before.

Take care, and any other words, directions of proven success, anecdotes of value, or what ever, are welcome.

                      Into another winter we go...

The good news? My Gleason was a 7-8, stage 4 and quite aggressive at first.
The original doubling rate had me long gone by now. Instead, I had to say goodbye to my dog after 13 years and I'm still puttering around. Only got the pup because I was sure she'd outlive me.

Kept a graph of the rising PSA. Tracked and documented the slowing of the doubling rate. Learned about RSO early on, and am getting good at extraction with practice.
Will be happy to share what I have learned.

As I wrote before, the most important thing I learned was proper dosage, and to pre-decarb the flowers.
More than enough, is too much. And de-carbing the finished product risks ruining the whole batch.

                        It's easy.

Stuff a jar with buds, seal it with aluminum foil and chuck it into an Instapot. Hit manual, high pressure, and set the timer for 44 minutes. The buds will turn golden, and so will the final product.

I used to go to great lengths to "winterize" and filter my oil, but found it counter-productive When I use it to remove a melanoma, it is not just the medley of cannabinoids in play. Seems there are enzymes as well that do some of the heavy lifting when dissolving melanomas and neuroendocrine tumors.

Know that ethanol is quite toxic, it's a matter of dosage.
I use Isopropyl because it is a superior solvent and purges as completely and easily as the ethanol.
Have used Naphtha, acetone, methanol, ether and THF. I do not recommend any of them, and oil extracted with butane was medically ineffective. Don't know why.

Look into obtaining an induction hot plate for the boil-off. Safest method I've found and very controllable.

I went through the "end it all" thoughts too. I think we all do. You get over that when you find it's not hopeless. And the "treatment" has some enjoyable side effects.

OK, Time for a pontification pause.

But I'm right here if you hit a snag. No be shy.

I remember the flood of unanswered questions that came with a diagnosis. Good to hear you are still around, moose eater. I didn't get any answers during treatment. Over seven years later on I have learned a diagnosis is not a death sentence. Spring follows winter. I hope there's a bumper crop of early blueberries for you.

My Irish-German stubbornness reacts poorly to the Cosmos tossing wrenches into my plans; more prone to flipping the Sky the bird, in defiance, sometimes to the point of 'scorched earth' self-destruction.

The initial positive effect of the whole gig has been a greater dedication to finishing unfinished projects, including resolving the 'missing phosphorous' mystery, where my soilless mix is concerned. (about the 4th <5th? 6th?> time that there's been ample P sources from various amendments, but water extraction comes up almost vacant (<2 ppm), and acid extraction still looks way under-powered for P for what the amendments would otherwise dictate -should- be there. A retired soil science prof is now delving into this puzzle, and may get back to me soon. It's almost as though something in the mix is causing the P to bind to something else in such a way as it is being converted. The poor results in acid extraction indicate this

Fortunately, the list of unfinished projects is lengthy enough that I can effectively argue with the Cosmos for a long time to come, re. it not being 'my time' yet, and needing longer to get stuff finished.

CT scan with contrast is scheduled for today. Then a whole-body nuclear bone scan.

Inherent results from either current primary conventional courses of action are not entirely positive, whether a radical prostatectomy or radiation; both have a predictable result of erectile dysfunction, and MAY involve incontinence... Ma' Nature can have a way of making us more humble.

If the stuff has spread, then chemo comes into play. A 3rd process that's apt to create too many 'wtf???!' moments

I'm curious about the decarb method, temps, etc., Weez.

I have a 'fair bit' of 99% lab grade ISO on hand (more rare in the stores since COVID-19 sprang), and 20 years ago, used that to make a bit of oil, though without heat, instead having it covered with bridal veil-looking bug screen, in Pyrex cake trays, and allowing it ample time to evaporate during summer's warmer days on the back porch. Was high potency, but a pain to clean up..

I'll look into the equipment you referenced, Weez.

High test alcohol and heat in a domestic setting have always been taboo in my view. With better venting, or maybe arranging a place in an out-building, the risk of unintended fire would drop significantly. Outdoor temps are not sufficient at the moment for more passive evaporation in an unheated environment, such as my enclosed back porch.

One wrench tossed into the works this late summer, after the period of time we were more isolated with COVID, involved my having gone on a tamale fest of sorts (1 tamale for breakfast, 1 for lunch, and 1 for dinner, for weeks on end), and I received some of the worst labs I'd seen in 8-10 years.

I've been methodically getting those numbers back in order since then, with some notable progress, but did so, in part, by radically decreasing carb intake, and increasing meat/protein intake, while getting more frequent veggies into the mix.. It seemed a win-win for a guy who lives for old school European cold smoked hard sausages like landjaeger, and/or steaks, sea food, cheese, etc.

Now my Doc's referred me to a couple authors who focus on the assertion that (as another poster or 2 referenced) cancers tend to thrive on meat-sourced proteins, to include eggs, dairy, red meat, cheese, sea food, etc.

So I'm now figuring out proper protein intake, while adapting to a whole plant foods diet, with minimal or no meat proteins. Lots of raw seeds and nuts, both raw and cooked veggies, etc.

Seems even the Cosmos, maybe -especially- the Cosmos, also subscribes to the 'rapid adaptation & hoop-jumping on demand' approach to life.

I was gifted some golden brown heat-pressed rosin a while back, alleged to be from a specific strain, in anticipation of this issue. I guess in the interim, before I create or discover a suitable place to heat flammable solvents, I can/will mix some of that rosin with coconut oil and cacao butter chips, to come up with material to work with, and, lacking any suppository molds currently, I'll figure out some sort of uniform dosing method..

My youngest son (the last of our kids remaining at home) is in high school, with a year and a half left to go. I don't want this to derail his stellar attitude and achievement record/accomplishments. He's a good guy, and I've apologized to him for casting this into his path.

Anyway, in the very near future, I should know much more re. how far this has progressed, and whether or not all of my options for conventional tx are still open.

                            Thanks again.

Here is another angle in natural healing of cancer and other disorders. I ordered some extract of broccoli as the growing of broccoli sprouts added to my pot growing seems to put me off of that.

                                Had a prostatectomy in 2006
Excellent surgeon, I don't leak and sex is still an option.
                                Different, but an option.

Had biological recurrence after 18 months and it was fast, 6 month doubling rate.

The oil has slowed that to 2 years and my recent addition of commercial CBD has slowed it to what is looking like a 4-5 year doubling rate.
I'll have actual numbers from my next blood test in about 6 months but my last test showed only a 0.4 ng. increase in PSA in over nine months.
It's at 21 ng. and change, presently. With 0 symptoms.

So, here's how a lazy, but responsible guy makes oil.

Unless you own a professional fume hood, Iso indoors is a bad move.

The decarb is fine, but I don't even do the soak indoors.
And passive evaporation turns 99% iso into, at minimum, 91% by absorbing moisture from the air, even when relative humidity is quite low.
Then you have to cope with that water at the end.

Best way I've found is induction plate, 2 quart saucepan, several ziplock bags and a good fan.
First, get the buds as dry as you can.

I use several, gallon ziplocks for the soak and smoosh.
Pour iso into the first bag, smoosh, and let it soak for 10 minutes or so. Then pour that solvent into a second bag, pour fresh iso into the first bag and let it soak while I smoosh the second one. Just keep water-falling until each bag has had 3 soaks.

More that that get less than 1% return.

I gather the solvent into a large jug. seal it, and let it sit overnight.
The muck settles to the bottom and makes filtering much faster.
Faster filtering pick us less water from the air.

Then, I decant it through a coffee filter lined funnel into another jug, or into the boil pot. (depends on the amount.)
I do all of this outdoors.

                                Avoids fumes and flames, yah?

I set the induction plate to 200° F. for the boil and set the fan to blow across the top.
That stops any boil over, and avoids burning the product.

Then I set timers while the iso boils off. At the end I turn the temp. up to 220° to boil off the water.

When the large, water, bubbles cease and the tiny, CO2, bubbles begin, kill the heat and fill syringes.

                                It really is that easy.

The oil is ready to use immediately. and because of the efficient decarb, it will be very potent.
I squirt 120 - 140 mg. at a time into #2 capsules. (that's about 2 grains of long rice worth).
                                Higher doses are less effective.

Found that out the hard way, trial and error. :(

Dosage is adjusted for patient size, but 1.1 mg. per Kg. seems close to optimal for me.

This is what worked for me. It may well work for you.
So quit worrying and go eat a moose.

                                Aloha,
                                Wee
