Hi Folks,
Wondered if any of you liked Northern Soul?
It started for me at the age of 15 at the Leeds soul festival 1972, where I saw the legendary Geno Washington & Major Lance. I was then taken to a 'Northern' all-nighter club in Bolton, England called the VaVa & I was hooked. Sadly I hadn't been going that long when it was closed down for drugs. The night it was raided, the dancefloor was awash with pills! Anyway, six weeks later a club opened in Wigan called the Casino Club and another legend was born. I went to the Casino for just over five years and in all that time, I can count on one hand the nights I missed. It was said that Wigan Casino was the best night club in the world at the time. Don't know about that but I'll never forget it.:woohoo:

Yes have to agree. Never was in the Wigan Casino but the North West of England be it Liverpool or Manchester has produced the best clubs I have ever seen, whether it be live music, Northern Soul etc. London doesnt compare....

You're dead right there mate. Manchester is probably the best night-life city in the UK.

Hi Tomfooler,
Jimmy's machine - the legendary Twisted Wheel!! The pals that got me into Northern were a bit older than me & they loved both the Wheel & The Torch (Stoke)
Here's a link to a movie I made called: A stroll down memory lane.
