With inter sex plant the females when stressed or males{enviroment etc} can shoot out a male sex or female part cause it want to survive{not mixed male and female parts in the same space like hermies. Like a single male or females part coming from a node} When the stress goes away the plant goes back to putting out all female pistals or all male flowers. So a bit different then hermie were both sex parts are showing at the same time. The only true inter sex plant i have dealt with are the liambas. Thats why i ask about the african varietals!
