Fan Silencer Box

Can anyone claim this?
I lost the thread.... :spank:
I'm working on a box for 6" Vortex.
Maybe somebody can help me out?

I've read a few people pack "poly-fill" around their fan.
Is this a fire / electrical hazard?

Does the slight airspace between the box and the "accoustic material" help with sound dampening?

Is the "accoustical Duct" special, or is it just insulated flex duct?

Thanks for reading.

in response to Qs

if by polyfill-you mean (what we call polyfiller) ie a diy filler that goes hard -then no don't use that-any muffling type blanket-foam-duvet/quilt will do

the slight distance between material and side of box is neither here nor there

acoustic ducting/soni ducting consists of an inner and an outer length of ducting with fiberglass type insulation between them-it's very effective

cheers

You CAN silence the sound of the fan

If you constrict the fan flow then you have defeated it's purpose.

That's it. Thanks Eddie! :joint:

By poly-fill, I mean the stuff that GJW in the other thread calls "wodding".
I'm not sure of my terminology...

Thanks for your help. :headbange
