I am looking for a new light system, trying to find a good deal on one but also don't want a piece of $%@#. I am looking to run a good 600w hps and will need a mh conversion bulb. I found this one, anyone know if its a good company?

How does the Easycool 6 reflector rate, would it get the job done? Total cost would be $364.95 bulbs and all.

I was also considering this one but not sure if its a better buy or not. Price is about $420 for this one adding in the cost of ordering the hangers that are included in the other sites light as well as ordering sunmaster lamps from the other site. With this one I would prob go for the sunspot 6 reflector.

These are the 2 best that I have found, any others that I should know about or will one of these be good?

Yeah, gonna need 110v. Otherwise great find. The reflector is a little bit more then I thought I needed but is it a good one? Its only about $15 cheaper on ebay then if I added it to my order with the Lumatek ballast. Didn't you have the thread with the $75 Lumatek? Nice find there as well.

yea, mine is 240v tho, good find for me. if u troll u can get a ballast fairly cheap, in just a few weeks. the hood might be better to get localy. i get them for roughly 145 at my local hydro store plus a C-note for the 600W horti, funny there more expensive then the 1K.

I'm afraid to even step inside a hydro shop...
I'm a young guy, they would def, think something was up. Even if they didn't care, I don't need watchful eyes on me.
Sticking to buying all my supplies online.

I am def, not looking for the cheapest, just not the most expensive either. I already have a 400hps with a street light reflector that I picked up a few years back which is what I am looking to replace as its not quite up to safety standards and I'm sure the reflector sucks, just keeping it as an extra. I am willing to invest a bit so I can ensure I get the best one I can afford. Not rushing into a buy either which is why I figured ask you all and see what responses I get. Out of the 2 I posted up top, is the Lumatek the better one? Also if I got the Lumatek with the Hydrofarm reflector, would that be a good reliable system? It would be around $500 to get it, which would be a bit more money then i was looking to spend but if it gets better results then it may be worth it.

Have you ever considered switching to 250v? Its safer and more efficient.

The kit you mention from HTGSupply I have. Great guys down there. I've been there a few times and they're awesome. Even had a bulb go out on me prematurely and they replaced it no questions asked. The Easy cool 6 is wonderful. Well worth the extra what $40. Better than $120 alone. Have a great grow and be safe and GREEN!!

Hey everyone,

I was about to start another thread about a similar subject, but it fits well with the last post so I'll stick it here.

I was curious how different people feel about the digital vs magnetic ballasts. Specifically i'm looking at the SunSystems GroPro Dual 600W HPS ballast(only 300 shipped!), compared to lumatek digital ballasts. The main reason i'm considering the digitals is because i have an xtrasun 400W hps ballast that gets nice and warm to the touch all by itself. I figure if i was pushing 1200W through a similar sized box might be a whole lot of heat. Perhaps the GroPro is a higher quality ballast than the xtrasun though.

About hydro shops, it depends which one i go to. Theres one in my town that always makes me feel odd. But theres 2 more shops in nearby towns that are really helpfull, one of the owners even always tells me about his days working for hydrofarm :) I'd suggest if one shop isn't treating you the way you like, spend your $$$ elsewhere.

edit: Best price i've found for a top quality reflector: Super Sun 2 running 105+tax+s/h. For bulbs hidhut.com has really nice full spectrum bulbs for only $35 each.

Theres also aqualightsonline.com. They have the sunsystems harvest pro 600W ballast for 170 and the supersun2 for 120, but they offer free shipping.with the 35 hidhut.com bulb thats about $350 all said and done.

You should be able to come in well under $500, with the only extra expense being your 600W MH conversion bulb, not sure where to get one of those. heck i'm trying to set up dual 600W for $600(just the lighting) :)

One thing to keep in mind though is that most reflectors come with socket and cord, but the cords arn't standard. for example a hydrofarm hood connecting to a sunsystems ballast would need a small conversion cord to make them plug into eachother. Havn't needed one before but i think the piece is only $10

So the Galaxy 600w Electronic Ballast, would be the best? How is $199 for it at the site hurricane posted? Would I need an adapter to run the super sun on it? Seems like it could get pricey after I buy all the needed hardware for it. The super sun looks well built might be something to consider.

galaxies rock!

had mine for 4 years no problems.
they allow 120 or 240 imput. also they have a sunsystems plug coming out the bottom.
mine run decently cool and make NO NOISE i also run mine IN the room to try and make-em cooler so they last longer.

edit; i paid about $240 for mine with tax and 240 plug. this was a few years ago, so yes 199 is decent price. digitals at my hydro shop are still running 240-250$ for the lumateks, my lumatek makes noise, a bzzzzzzzz

the Lion is going Guerrilla...
Hydroponics.net aka Greentrees Hydroponics.... DO NOT SHOP THERE... There's a thread here on IC from a guy who got busted because of them. I'm pretty sure they have really low prices because it's bait. They once told me that 179.99 was the price for an 8 bulb Tek-Light T-5 system. Yeah, I don't think so... Probably run by pigs...

That Gro Pro Dual, there was a recall on them awhile back. They might have fixed them, I don't know. But yeah, there's a thread on Gro Pro Duals too...

Sunlight Supply reflectors, or at least most of them as far as I know, have the mogul built in the reflector with the Sun System cord set that just plugs right into the Galaxy or other SS ballasts. $199 is a good deal but since you want to do this online I know where you can get them for $180 or a complete setup with the Galaxy 600, Super Sun 2, and bulb for $330. That's the all around best deal for the perfect setup online. I don't work for or have any ties with the company but I buy my inline fans from them since they're way cheaper than any walk in hydro store or online hydro store that's legit. Anyways, peace...

how good are those cooltube reflectors on HTG, i was thinking of getting one with 600watt ballast for a 3.5ft squared sog, how good is the light distribution on them?

Considering I would be changing the bulb every other grow or so, can I get pretty much the same results from a Hidhut bulb?

Go for it because I'd never pay that much for any "special" type of bulb unless it was money back guaranteed plus the difference of weight that it promised...

i was wondering if anyone else has an opinion on HTGs digital grow ballast, i dont want to buy something that is going to crap out on me during my grow, but i also dont want to be steered away just by one opinion that could be bias, you feel me, so any info would help.
