Hey all. Been lurking for a while, finally got myself registered. I'm from the London area.

I grew for a couple of years about 8 years ago when I lived overseas (600W HPS), but current circumstances dictate that small and stealthy are the key, so I'm building an economy micro grow, as I've seen so many people doing great things with CFLs.

Currently: 18" x 18" x 28" (Height) cab is under construction, and I'm thinking of going with a 150W CFL. Hope that'll be enough light for that size space. Gonna trial run with some Sess bagseed just to get the feel of things before investing in some quality seeds, and maybe getting down to some breeding, which is an area that really interests me.

Seen some truly awesome plants grown by UK people in this and other threads. You guys are truly inspiring.

TTFN.

i just noticed there was a u.k. growers thread.....cool!
yep i'm a u.k. grower.
best results i had outside was with some early skunk seeds given to me by some exodus friends. they had been grown for 5 generations/years outside in the uk before i grew them.
does anybody else think this is the case, cannabis dialing itself in over time?
has anyone had experience with this?

That is most probably the case, its called Acclimatisation(sp?)...each generation the best are selected by the breeder(s) or natural selection kills off the weak, then the best genetics are passed on in the progeny so the line improves...Landraces are fully Acclimatised to their environment, say if they were grown someplace else, they'd adapt over generations again to suit the differences to an extent...(also note: F1 hybrids, in comparison to IBL/landraces's have increased vigour so adapt faster..). :joint:

Big up the UK massive! :rasta:

bingobango - you need to be very vigilant late in flower for bud rot.

Try to keep enough ventilation to prevent it, but with some strains with very big buds, you need to keep checking.

Another tip is topping the plants, so that the main cola doesn't get too big.

Peace

This I like GB, but you've overferted - you can see the leaf tips are burnt, and the leaves are way too green for this stage (day 57).

The leaves should be yellow by this stage in bud, and you can achieve this by using less ferts and flushing earlier.

Hello fellow UK growers :) SouthWest here, and been growing Hindu Kush for some years, time for a change though as have ordered from Mandala, just waiting for them to arrive. Speed Queen, Mandala femmed and White Satin.
Personal grower, just for me and the missus and youngest son. Usually get by with 5 plants a crop. Have made a few changes in growroom since visiting these forums.
These are my last Hindu's

and these are the refinements, cana filter with RVK and a new adjustawing.

I used biobizz nutes an this last crop, but am sure I fed them well over the odds. Growing in Westalnds + and would appreciate any info on what you guys use for nutrients here?

Hey Dave, remove all those 90 degree angular bends and excess ducting from your ventilation - you're losing at least 50% of the pulling power.

You have 3 x 90 degree bends in there and twice the ducting you need. Having a 90 degree bend directly at the fan exhaust point is particularly bad, and should be avoided wherever possible.

>> Just have the fan and filter going straight to the exhaust hole in a line, and not snaking around the walls.

About your plants, you haven't flushed properly: the leaves are green at the end of flowering.

The leaves should be yellow at this stage, and browning off down below as they start to die off. This means the plants have used all the food, and the buds will taste clean. Yours still have lots of ferts still in them, which leads to a harsh and 'chemical' taste to the buds, which is also more carcinogenic.

bingobango, you're welcome and I'd say that's your problem right there - top and you'll be able to avoid bud rot I reckon, and if just that doesn't do the trick, have an oscillating fan on them 24/7, including during the dark period, as well as adequate extraction.

The oscillating fan might turn the leaves and buds multi-coloured, but you won't have mold.

Peace

Understood :) I can actually go straight across the ceiling, just mount the fan and filter in direct line on the ceiling and use the alluminium ducting :)
Thanks for the advice.

ps. I wonder if the fact that I was using the biobizz bloom and top bloom at full strength may have added to the fact that the leaves remained green, I did flush for 2 weeks.

Hi Dave,

Ok cool about the ventilation & you're welcome - I'm sure you'll see an improvement with the new adjustment.

About the nutes, yes you must have used too much if you flushed for 2 weeks. Use less next time and you'll see a big improvement.

Peace
