Cloverfield

I think I read Abrams had said something to the effect of "America needs its own monster...and not King Kong." in an interview somewhere, so I my interest is piqued for something that should be original if nothing else.

the last trailer i saw, i could have sworn i saw ufos. i really believe it's an alien flick. it caught my attention for sure. i'll have to wait for the dvd, though; my internet connection is to slow to be downloading any movies.

My friend told me its a "monster" but during the whole movie the director wants to keep you in suspense. Because in real life if there was a monster no one would be getting close to it recording and taping? You feel me? So basically the director is trying to play that in the movie and save the "monster" till the end so its real suspenseful. Should be a good movie i hope!

I was not one bit impressed. 95% of the movie is just them running around with a camera without much action. You see the monster a few times but I expected a lot more from the movie. Disappointing to say the least.

^^ yea i knew it...see i dont go tot he movies any more...i didnt pay nearly 3k for my tv/soundsystem etc rent and electricity to go pay for entertainment outside of my home. Secondly all movies now SUCK...they are all hype and no PAY OFF....ex #1 transformers, i actually wanted to see that movie...along with ex #2 i am legend....sure they are nice lokoing movies..but are they worth the HYPE no...thats why i didnt go see any of those movies in the theater...i rented them from block buster(waiting for i am legend) and made a copy ... which should be LEGAL !! now if you are str8 up stealing it thats another issue(even tho i still think its wrong)...but anyways..movies now suck...stay at home..rent and burn..its cheaper!

Yea,this movie totally sucks.Definitely hyped up for nothing but to make money and not show for it.No explanation of the monster in the movie and I hated how it was shot.I saw this movie online though so no waste of money, just time.

defintately disagree with most of you...I think the movie was great and that jj did create a totally original monster movie...sure it had things like godzilla and kong...but thats what you get with a monster movie like that..

I think it was great because there was a lot of action and stuff, and personally I didnt mind the blair witch project..in the way it was shot.

all and all I think this was a great flick

I think a lot of people were expecting a monster movie like King Kong that you seen the movie through the monsters eyes. the way this was made, you got a realistic view of what it might be like.

I am anxioulsy awaiting this on dvd, cannot wait to see it 10 feet away in HD

I like the idea of a first person monster flick but I think this came up short. Every time you saw the monster it was only for a few seconds. I just expected more I guess. And the main reason I didnt like the movie was not because I didnt see the monster, it was because there wasnt a lot of action. I saw The Mist a few days ago and you see the monsters of each respective films about the same amount but the dialog and plot were much better for the mist. I almost fell asleep within the first 15 minutes of Cloverfield because nothing was happening. Then when it was beginning to get interesting, it ended.
