This is cool , all because of a grassroots ballot initiative process allowing citizens to propose statutes or constitutional amendments, cutting through all the Bull. Just put on the ballot and let the people decide , nice! That headlines misleading. He stated his opinion was all. Challenging it would be going to court over it. And he said that 2 days before he dropped out of the Republican primary when he was still scrambling to get votes so who knows if he actually meant it. Could have just been beating his chest trying to look like a 2nd Amendment warrior for the Republican base.
He's been anti marijuana his entire political career and opposes federal legalization. Fortunately for Floridians they get to vote on legalizing recreational marijuana this year and it looks almost certain to pass.

Of course there always seems to be someone involved with the incentive to gain financially, But the ballot initiative process it truly a grassroots process. It may have been organized and promoted by a greedy corporation but the power ultimately lies in citizen signatures and votes. I believe it completely bypasses the state government politics ( elected legislators ) . Not all states have this process availableNot really grassroots.
Smart and Safe Florida is sponsoring the initiative. The campaign reported $39.55 million in contributions, all from Trulieve, a marijuana dispensary company that owns medical marijuana dispensaries in Florida.

I 100% percent hope Floridians legalize recreational marijuana rights.
It's just too bad that the path involves desantis cronies controlling the process.
Admirable and accurate, from my perspective.Yup all of that and dont forget the lobbyists, until citizens united gets repealled, its more of the same and getting worse imo.
It is my understanding that the old boy's network has come up an ability of short sheeting the processOf course there always seems to be someone involved with the incentive to gain financially, But the ballot initiative process it truly a grassroots process. Yes along with the legislators another thing bypassed by ballot initiative , wish my state had it. Just put it on the ballot, it dosn't get better than thatdont forget the lobbyists
It wouldn't surprise me , but I will point out that the law also includes a veto referendum which is a citizen-initiated ballot measure that asks voters whether to uphold or repeal an enacted law.It is my understanding that the old boy's network has come up an ability of short sheeting the process
