White Rhino were the first to pop- seeds a few years old and not well stored, so was surprised. 3 out of the 8 showed tails very quickly, the others... may not make it.

negative37dBA yeah all indoors under a SF1000. Growing in compost/perlite mix.

Most now up - All 3 of the BSGxAfg F1 are up, 2 of 3 of the BSGxJohaar F1, and both the Purple Bud fems. Sadly I may only get 2 White Rhino, but they look strong.

Odd thing with the Green Gelato fem and both the Sherbet Queen x Afghan F1s - all emerged with seed case stuck over the seed leaves, and when it finally came off there was a brown skin still wrapping the end of the leaves and holding them shut. Had to do some delicate surgery to free them. Am hoping to pollinate the GG with the SQxA if I get a male, so will want to keep an eye on that trait and select it out future generations - I like plants that look after themselves! The landrace Afghan influence might help.

No further seeds popped, and the WR3 hasnt broken soil yet.. so... this is probably what I have to play with. Its enough 😈

All up and eager, including the Green Gelato & the 2 Sherbet Queen x Afghan that I had to take a sharp knife to - happy to report they made rapid recovery as soon as their hats were gone. Chuffed to get two SQ plants, and likewise the 5 Bagseed Gelato - the mum was a lovely cutting I lost to spider mites last spring 😢 glad she's living on in these 5. Shame not to get any more White Rhino - I was hoping to make some seeds with those - but apart from that I'm happy with the germination.

So, that leaves:

White Rhino, MSNL (2/8 reg)
Medical Mass, RQS (1/1 fem)
Green Gelato, RQS (1/1 fem)
Purple Bud, Sensi (2/2 fem)

Bagseed Gelato x Johaar (2/3)
Bagseed Gelato x Afghan (3/3)
Sherbet Queen x Afghan (2/2)

Am going to veg for a while & take cuts of everything once they're big enough.

Note some leaf deformation and mottling on the Green Gelato. Apart from that, all healthy so far...

Light now down to c50cm above plant tops (sf1000 qb).
Am remaking the cubby that I previously had as my veg space to integrate an improved (quieter) fan - thinking of doing a major overhaul, making that space bigger & swapping it as my flower space instead. this would get round the issue I previously had of my veg space only being accessible via my flower space, so restricted during 12/12.

"major overhaul" now means you can relax later!

Definitely! The current setup has what was my veg/clone space as a secondary compartment within the main cupboard that was my flower space. Not ideal..

White rhino seedlings. Thats the easy bit done. They look kinda oak-leafy & thick. Ngl am a bit gutted to only get two... Am taking cuttings of both these once they are big enough. They seem fiesty.

Old veg/clone space was 1m tall x 90cm wide x 70 cm deep. There were shelves above, which I've knocked through now, giving an extra 60cm of headroom, so c160cm in total - which is enough for a compact flowering space. The new fan is a beast! It is quiet tho (which was the point).

Babies all growing rapidly - GG growing OK, in spite of its mottled & slightly deformed initial leaves. I remember the RQS sherbet queen had a difficult start last time but came through in the end. Bagseed Gelato x Afghans looking fine.

Done a bit more rough carpentry & planning out the space. Fan + filter should fit nicely into the space above where the upper shelf used to be. Walls are just plasterboard, so will need to construct something sturdy to screw everything onto. Might need to construct some kind of frame to hold all of this.

Was not being humble about the roughness - tis rough af. But will do ;) Something meditative about being inside a small white room, painting it even whiter...

Also, gripfill is my friend.

Potted everything up to 1 litre pots. compost w 5% perlite & 1/2 tsp blood fish & bone & a tsp kelp meal every 10 litres of compost mix. Bag of compost had been outside for a few months - evacuated a few worms. Used nematodes a couple of weeks ago to ward off fungus gnats - and they always give you a crazy amount (far too much unless you actually have a whole polytunnel to drench), so I poured all the leftovers into the bags of compost outside. Looks like over the past two weeks they have blasted all the gnats. Good job :)

Actually got a first whiff off one of the White Rhinos. Took me by surprise but theres a faint funk already.

Roots all filling out nicely - maybe could have waited a little longer, but I dont want these guys to get pot bound.
