Welp I guess it's Japanese again.my mom wanted to try fried tofu.told her it's Nast and it was.got tempura shrimp and vegetables,I wanted an Alaskan roll but somehow my mom got a Philadelphia roll.i fucking hate those so that was a waste of money.came with clear soup and salad with ginger dressing.and some crab rangoon.think that's it.about $38.honestly nothing too special.hate Philadelphia rolls.shrimp was just ok.clear soup is probably best thing.its not even clear.looks like beef broth

Is that joint owned by Chinese people?
Just doesn’t look like anything a Japanese person with self respect would make.
Im sorry but $38 for that is a rip off imo.

It reminds me of the “western” food here in Japan. Usually expensive parodies of other countries food that just aren’t done well.

oh shit your in Japan? may i ask where? never been there but im somewhat familiar with the major cities like Yokohama and Osaka and such. its one of my goals to visit Japan one day. guess im a weebo
Coupley hours from Osaka . Smaller city so not much good restaurants … apart from Japanese food 😂
This is the only food photo I have on my phone udon (I always go nuts on the green onion, chilki seasoning and tempura pieces) and chicken numban, fish sausage tempura …. Cost about US $5.50 free tea…. But ya have to take the plates back the kitchen yourself at these joints.

Worth the trip just for the food… fk I put weight on when I first got here just wanted to try everything.

Osaka > Tokyo
imo. Much cooler vibe.

We usually go to the sushi train cause the kids love it and it’s cheap 😂

The swords, hand tools and knives are amazing ! there’s still proper old school craftsmanship available here, it costs a bit more but will last more than one lifetime of use.

Not true at all.
Old masters are replaced by new masters as it always has been here. There’s only one way to see this…. In person I think you may be surprised, totally different mindset here compared to say the US or UK

Nice steak 🥩

Your good man.
It’s always been a game of attrition to become a master…. We can’t all be masters because then the word loses its meaning right.
YouTube vs being on the ground and speaking the language are two different things. I have no click based incentive just going by what I’ve experienced here.
If ya come over let me know I can try point you in the right direction for what you’re after :)

He is from New Zealand living in japan...

What, you got Aldi Stores in America!? 😯 I really didn't know that.
seriously? we probably have more Aldis than any other country. we literally have almost an Aldi in every town. i really like Aldi but its usually packed and its not that cheap but they have better quality stuff than walmart usually. just bought some organic apples and lemons that are pretty darn good

Don't be sorry. I mostly navigate the forum clicking 'new posts' so i see all active threads, maybe i thought more people are doing this.

English is easier than german for sure and i say that as a native german speaker. ^^ And English is the world language and we were teached from class 5 - 10 in school. :)
