I go Surfing whenever conditions warrant, in any surfspot +/- 20 miles. Now, Late Spring Early Summer - prevailing trades are ruining the waves for weeks at a time. The winds also cause "upwelling," which causes the top few meters of the Ocean to be super-Cold. Like 47-50 degrees F. Coldest water of the year is during the Spring and Summer winds.

But, every once in a while, during or after a foggy day (which has been rare of late) the wind will die down for a few daylight hours, and one can score something - nothing epic, though.

In Summer the Storms off Mexico and even further South will generate nice South Swells that will make it up here now and then. It sometimes can be great. Infrequent. If the winds stay low. Sometimes means early morning or nothing.

Soon comes August through November, with the best local conditions. The reason we live here... The best and only real warm weather. When the Storms off Alaska generate bigger and more consistent waves to a coast with moderate and calm local winds..

As it happens, August through November is also the time when The Mayor, or The Man In the Grey Suit is also most likely to show up. 65% of attacks occur within these months.. For anything as great as Surfing, there is always a "Bite..!"
