Spent a lot of years in the DC area and used to enjoy flying
small aircraft.
We are told the plane that hit the Pentagon came from the
West. In a nutshell that would have them flying down the
Potomac River. Which is something I have done several times.
When one does fly down the river, one can see DC from a long
way out. What one sees first is the CIA facility on the VA side
of the river.
My question is: why would someone who wished to inflict the
greatest harm on the country bypass the CIA, when it would be
so very easy to hit, in favor of a more complex route to
strike the Pentagon ?
If you have access to a copy of the Microsoft flight simulator,
load up Regan/National airport and you can see what I describe here.
It is easier to strike the agency than the Pentagon.
Was able to ask a pal who flew large transport aircraft for a living,
what he thought of the projected flight path that was used on the
pentagon. The look on his face said it all.
The ground effects involved with large frame aircraft are not to be
sneezed at, and they would make it more difficult than one
might expect.
