Seedsman website feedback

Happy New Year to the Seedsman team and everyone else!

I've been a loyal Seedsman store customer for a few years now, and my purchasing experience has been stellar.

Recently, however, I noticed some changes that give me pause.

1) The top-level breeder list has been removed. While it's understandable that you want to promote your own seeds, for as long you carry other breeders' work, please don't intentionally make it harder for folks to look for them. Not asking for a new feature - just to restore the feature that you already had. This is what makes it annoying - a feature was removed for no obvious reason other than to de-promote 3rd party breeders.

2) The stock filter is gone. I can no longer search by "in stock". Again, a very useful feature was removed for less-than-obvious reasons.

3) With Brexit, it's perfectly understandable that your supply chain and stocking is in flux. As of right now, however, there is no way to tell if a variety is available in my location by looking at the list of search results. Typically you would see "Out of Stock" on the corresponding tile, but the Brexit-related availability status can only be seen once you click the tile. If at all possible, please consider fixing the Out of Stock indicator to take geographic availability into account.

and also its impossible to open a particular product in a new window. you can only open it in your current one, and when you return back to previous page, your filter settings have been reset

I notice when I back up from an individual strain page to the previous page, the first few strains that were listed previously before I clicked on the strain vanish and aren't anywhere on the page anymore. I have to run a new search or use the menu to reload the page to get those first couple of strains back on the list

I agree, this is annoying. When this happens I re-sort the page, typically by name alphabetically. It’ll reload the page without resubmitting the search. But yes this needs fixed.

I also miss the breeder list. I understand supply train issues with Brexit and COVID but I don’t shop seedsman for their store brand genetics. Sure, I generally like their offerings but it’s not what I’m there to shop for. And their genetics are mostly a value/ ad-on purchase while I’m searching for other breeders. If they stop selling other breeders or make it too hard to shop for them on their site, sadly I don’t see myself shopping there as often in the future.

Exactly my sentiment. The conflict of interest has been obvious for a while. Given the progress of legalization, it's no surprise that the $$$ is going to be in selling cheap, mostly undocumented, white-label seeds to new growers. I'd LOVE to be proven wrong, but business is a numbers game, and I can't blame Seedsman for streamlining their business model.

The connoisseur demographic will just have to take their money elsewhere, perhaps a place that's a little less "business" and a little more "passion" :tiphat:

after basically ordering exclusively from seedsmans for years, im finding the lack of choice for UK ORDERS a real problem i know the Brexit mail issues are the cause but how long before this is rectified,...even just offering a stealth option for UK shipping would do for now ...no mr nice seeds ,no top of the range sativas from ace or DP only seems to be indicas and autos and seedsmans own brand seeds ......if i didnt know you guys better, i would say its been done cynically to push your own brand products ...i hope more of your range becomes available im sick of seeing that out of stock message when i know there in stock and available to every over country ...including internationally like to the USA

Hi MrFancy and all who commented here.

First need to say I'm very sorry about the current circumstances, but honestly, do you think that a top one international seedbank would give up 70% of his availlable stock just to sell more numbers from his only1% of stock (own brand seeds)? it does not make any sense. We were / are selling tons from both sides.

Wich is the problem here? simply current obstacles/laws. Brexit has brought us many new laws around international trade. Which we must adjust to them, like everything that happens around our business, if you do not do so you can have serious problems. Seedsman as the largest international seed exporter (including wholesale) we are under continuous scrutiny.

Now we go to the problem in question, all that you mention have the same cause, Brexit and the new current limitations / restrictions in stock and countries. We have had to make many tough decisions regarding the website to be able to adapt to the changes, the suppression of the breeders menu was necessary since we cannot handle different menus for different countries and other added difficulties (any webmaster can understand that, nowadays the webs are basically modulated with 3rd party tools).

We have made these filters dynamic by the users country it also cuts out those random out of stock strains too. the majority of customers start on the cannabis seeds category and then use the filters to find their items.

We also managed to apply a sorting filter across the site (it lags a bit when the site is very busy) which means that customers no longer have to click another button to just see things in stock, by design they see things in stock above those which have no stock. the experience is better this way.

Note, we have just bumped breeders to the top of the filters list throughout the site. Now they show at top in the filters too.

I never look forward to using the site, myself. I know the things I want are there....somewhere....but the site makes it hard.
 
I looked at it the other day.the only thing i couldnt figure out was how to put things in the cart. I mustve been real stoned or

I was looking for something specific for a friend and I went back and tried to make sense of the site. Wow. Almost impossible to find something then buy it. Unless you are looking for seedsman or their close friends seeds don't bother. I once again got frustrated and bailed. Too bad as I used to order from them a lot.

For me the biggest issue is the ordering process. I constantly get "invalid card number" and then confirmations that my order went through. The website runs insanely slow at times where clicking links appears to produce no response from the website. I haven't encountered this issue before and perhaps the Black Friday promotion caused the slowdown? I'm not sure, but as someone who does software development I really hope they can optimize their servers, or whatever issue in their frontend that might be creating problems navigating the site. I ended up putting in a duplicate order somehow, but I sent an email to cancel the first order. Both orders ended up getting cancelled then I metaphorically tossed my hands into the air and went somewhere else.

How does one find the breeders page? Search feature sucks, can't find any breeders, can't find the seeds I'm looking for. I don't understand why they would totally ruin their own website!?!

I will say that browsing from mobile is an absolute nightmare now. Mobile versions are usually terrible and over simplifying features to the point of uselessness. It's basically unusable, especially if you're trying to browse multiple strains/open multiple windows at once

Search function is super important, and as others have said, it's kinda fucked. Also, the "out of stock" stuff has no way to be excluded, as others have said.

I've had an issue where I put my selections in my basket and when I go to checkout, half of them are just gone. Support had me clear cache and cookies and still the same result. I'm stateside so I get their response when I get up in the morning and they close an hour later so I have to wait yet another day for them to give me another thing to try that won't work. Now that more than a week has gone by I lost out on a sale I wanted to take advantage of. They also still haven't answered my question about whether I get a discount for using crypto. I asked 3 times and they ignored it like I didn't ask.

I. too, have had great service from Seedsman, but this is just too much to handle now. It's all but impossible now.

What other good alternatives are there?

I'm having some trouble getting the US dollars clicked on because the trusted certification is blocking the area you click on to change your currency. Any other folks having this issue? I know you can get on goggle and calculate the currency exchange to get your total but I like to know the price of what I'm adding to the cart so I can figure out how much I can afford. I love Seedsmans strains and there service they must be restocking some stuff because I've added strains to the cart and went to checkout and they're out of stock. I'm gonna give them some time to get everything in order I guess before I start seed shopping. I had the Fuel D OG and Purple Ghost Candy going last year and had to stop the grow and wanna grab a couple packs to try again!! Thanks Seedsman for your great affordable strains
