RGS mixed pics/strain reviews.... outs & ins.....

to anyone reading this, thank you for taking the time to stop in and read.... after a little more than half a decade here this will be first time sharing flicks of any sort....... as many (if not all) of you can understand, have always been hesitant to do so even in the midst of many of our current legal climates (favorable) across the board because.. well..... growing up and knowing even bowl residue could get you hemmed up makes you want to be a little more careful (again; as many of you can relate.......).. and to add to that? well....... as it was once put by one of the truly great members of our community many moons ago now... we're a bunch of skittish fucks........... aren't we? :smoke::biglaugh:

that being said.. am eternally grateful for the wealth of knowledge that is this site/ community and would like to give back in any menial way possible despite apprehensiveness. current personal legal climate is extremely lax and am strictly for personal stash (heavy smoker almost 2 decades.......) so will be sharing pics/ reviews (personal opinion/ observation.......) of RGS strains here that have experience with.. will be updating this periodically with any new thoughts/ memories etc..........

please note... the pics in this thread are from previous ops (more than year since active) that are now no longer....... dont keep many flicks around........ usually like to take a few and flip through while smoking end product(s) to ponder but delete soon after........ these are the last of whats on hand currently. tried a nice handful of RGS strains and would like to share my opinions/ observations of the ones that stood out most personally........

as stated previously this will not be full info in one go, going to update this with my thoughts/ memories as they come to me/ see fit........

nl/chem x opg freebies....... had nice selection to start with but external circumstances left with only a handful... out of that got range of smells between fruity, hashy, and one that reeked of complete oranges....... nothing less.. pictured was outlier growth wise, dont know if wouldve been given bigger selection however majority ended up tall but wide/ bushy (topped handful times........) with minimal representing structure equivalent to pictured but slimmer/ taller/ lankier....... quick growth, great resilience to cold and heat... one (orange smelling) that ended up showing signs of (slightest bit....... couldve been fault of placement in general, etc.......) pm....... either way, nice yielder, solid smoke...... better after a nice cure....... this strain was last smoke left of season and thoroughly enjoyed all of it/ them.......

only pic on hand of strip containing freeze ibl, auto tangie, greengold, kushty, dfg etc....... speaking of auto tangie very nice strain....... couple dutch passions genetics come to mind flavor wise, very nice throwback....... range of phenos between short/ citrusy to taller (extended flower period) hazy smelling phenos that contain an orange kick to them....... extremely nice smoke and, was disappointed when smoked whole stash/needed more......

fast lemon drizzle indoor.. few phenos off this one but pictured was favorite.. complete throwback to nice 00's era SLH....... didnt have luxury of testing end product out because all plants of this strain were unfortunately eaten by animals however in smoke was as recall spectacular.......

few phenos, most predominately intense lemon smell/taste.. some phenos racey effect, others not.. one pictured was extremely nice up effect, all head no body, strong and tasted/smelled of incense.. surprisingly hefty, also somehow finished in about 9 weeks flat which was a source of amusement as most would associate the smell/ flavor profile of this particular end product with that of a 13+ week flowering plant....... tipping the hat again to RGS for not only high quality breeding but unique in todays world, you can tell they care about their craft.......

also to be noted is that the batch pictured was a last minute ordeal at the time.. room was literally a frame (no insulation, no sheetrock..) with mylar stapled to it.. 6" outtake fan, no intake, no ac, no dehumidifier, used lights, etc... was stuck in a position with minimal at disposal, used airflow to advantage (as many fans as possible since humidity would spike with no dehu) with no adverse problems..

credit due to RGS as well for the very stress resistant genetics.. food was only GH MB with a tiny bit of LK about halfway through but very minimal.. mainly just the MB.. raised from 500-1kppms as saw fit during veg and gradually increased from 1k to about 1800-2k (iirc.......) until about a week or so from flush and walked it down to about 15 before cutting entirely for flush..

flush on this particular run was as remember not optimal....... however, smoke ended up very favorable. individual who was shared with remarked hadnt seen/smelled anything similar (pheno pictured) since mid 00's... :smoke: looks like it would be airy but very solid nugs.......

also want to note about the fast lemon drizzle that not sure about outs but in at least? things couldve used even more food.. were under a mix of wattage from 600mh to 1khps to 1kDEhps and basically all looked like couldve been pushed more from the start, even before flowering.. maybe because mainly only using base and couldve used more additives? not sure.. if anyone has any input please feel free to share.. other than that will get around to seeing whats what one of these seasons when feeling like it..

mention that only also because other strains/phenos were having burn issues at same ppm.. multi pheno multi strain?....... used to be able to be bothered to mix individual feeds but for long time now felt lazy and just wanted to smoke some nice trees.. when making personal stash always figured if not nice, will try again different way/ different strain.. is what it is..

feel like people put too much pressure on themselves to create "perfect batch" every time.. not feasible.. its art.. jmv.. always tweaking to be done even for the most skilled.. shouldnt be source of stress, thats just life.. got to appreciate the variety even if sometimes its subpar smoke.. in different perspective? just makes it that much better when have a run of stuff to smoke that smacked it out the park on.. ya know? :smoke:

also for anyone interested PH from that run was ran between 6.1-6.4 (fluctuating at digression based on how felt any particular day) during veg and between 6.3-6.8 during flower.. more often than not sat right on 6.7. last week or so before flush dropped to circa 6.0 PH

means a lot man, thank you.. hope you got yourself something nice to smoke on right about now my friend :smoke:

You're welcome! You obviously know what you're doing. It's nice to see some old school looking buds.

I feel much more relaxed just looking at them :)

I have some nice import hash and about 1 week away from chop time :smoker:

What would you say has been the standout smokes you've grown?

if anyone has any input please feel free to share

Do you have any advice to give? You look like you have the growing sorted :tree:

appreciate the sentiments man, truly, thanks again...... big fan of the older school look as well, nice nostalgia hit every now and then never hurts :pimp3: wish could go back in time and grab some nugs to share a joint (or two.. or ten :biglaugh:)

sounds lovely man, whats the effect like on that? been a while now since had some nice hash.... wish you luck with your batch btw, hope you get what you want out of it and then some.. nice quality, all that :smoke: what strain(s) you got going?
What would you say has been the standout smokes you've grown?

RGS standouts (so far... havent ran entire catalogue yet..) personally were freezeland ibl (favorite RGS product in or out so far.. one of favorite/ most memorable smokes across the board for me personally really.. another nostalgic one like the lem drizzle haze pheno above.. going to start calling the friggen things "time machine phenos" :biglaugh:) at top of list...

following in no particular order; fast lemon drizzle (only tried in, need to try out..), greengold, fire99, the opg x chemnl cross above, lemonade og x freezeland ibl, fire99 x freezeland, auto tangie..,.....tried handful of others as well but feel like didnt get correct representation so might run all again in future in different circumstances, see what happens.. always like to give things a decent couple tries or so before moving on depending how feeling about it at moment...

out of everything though the main one would do in a heart beat again if had to pick one that have only done before would be that freezeland ibl, with auto tangie following as a close second...........

quick notes off top head:

freezeland ibl - solid growth, nice solid structure.. spear shaped buds, superb frost in bad conditions, extremely mold resistant in bad (occasionally horrible.... rain, heat, humidity, etc...) conditions.. and? somehow extremely dense, beautiful (deep purple/pink pistils and neon green calyxes that carry through into the dry/cure), not the most potent but a very nice (can smoke all day/ night) balanced, happy effect and a nice sweet, piney almost hashy smell/taste.. not too strong, not too subtle.. could be passed off as indoor to certain circles even nowadays.. will note that tried 2 crosses of it indoors and while absolutely loved and enjoyed product, still liked/miss look/smell/taste/experience of the ibl out more.... special plant she is.... very dear to my heart.. :smoke:

fast lemon drizzle - super fast growth, some lankier than others, very branchy, loves to be topped etc.. stretch at least 2.5-3x, some product denser than others.. all nice.. would add again but notes on this one already above.. will add more if think of it.. would love to try out though, feel like she would impress..

greengold - solid strain, only had handful but came out relatively similar.. chunky buds, kinda knobby and cool looking.. nice frost nothing crazy, but very nice old school skunk sort of smell.. rotten onions or something almost.. nice product..

fire 99- got pm but still tried a little bit cause smelled so good.. can see this one being an absolute winner, would love to smoke kushty one day..

freezeland ibl x lemonade og - real nice, chunky buds.. some phenos kind of rubbery lemon, weird to describe.. nice potency though and very sticky/ frosty/ dense.. golf ball like nugs on most.. couple phenos looked almost identical, kind of og-esque very dense tight knobby weird certain shape some ogs get and had a pure minute maid lemonade smell/taste.. absolutely amazing smell/ taste profile.. winner imo.. would love to try out..

freezeland ibl x fire99 - very close contender with fast lemon drizzle at time was smoking them both back to back, liked this one a lot.. people who got to smoke it were calling it "the berry".. all phenos along same lines, some crazy frost and very nice structures but smells while similar (freeze influence i believe.. if have run will know what mean) vary a little and some smelled very nice piney floral berry, others a little more hashy berry and one? oh man.. as if you took a fresh blueberry, blended it with some sort of earthy coffee bean and dipped it in kerosene.. yeah.. :smoke:

auto tangie extremely quick and nice, couple outlier phenos that finished later and were more hazy with an orange taste/smell in the background/secondary (think orange peel, not orange juice etc) but most were nice citrusy skunky short little plants with real nice looking nugs, very frosty and again for product done mid summer when conditions are not conducive to frost at all around the way these things could still be passed yet again as indoor.. very sticky.. cures and stores well.. nice potency; very up, giggly.. nice growth and resilience.. only drawback was yield but might be able to be fixed, willing to try in different styles etc.. but got those with the knowledge wasnt going to be heavy yield, was after smell/flavor profile etc which they absolutely delivered on.. not disappointed in the slightest, fair price too.....

non rgs?

cut that went around for a while number of years ago called green apple was real nice, supposed to be a sd x c99 or something along those lines.. done 50-56 days, vegged fast, stretched medium, nice neon green bud with the red hairs, dense as a rock, structure varied but mostly chunky and round-ish, not real knobby.. seen it as such couple times but not majority.. easy to defoliate, and oddly enough when cut bled purple instead of clear.. stank so bad that goes through whatever/wherever you put it and could literally smell it from 20-30 feet away even behind a door if a decent amount sitting in a bag.. type of stuff even a dub will reek a store up and have people looking at you funny or giving you the look cause they blaze up too :smoke::biglaugh:

was gifted a pheno of exotic genetix cookies and cream that was real nice, piney cream sort of smell taste, stout strong plant nice yielder about an 8 week finish with a purple tinge.. spear shaped buds, real easy to trim but leafy. nice potency and real great bag appeal frost was there in spades. someone else tried it out up north probably a few degrees before you and got huge, did real well out there from what info was relayed about it anyway

sin city sin mint - real nice in, pretty reminiscent of forum gsc and pheno got to run at least (dont know about others) was real decent yielder too. real nice product, seen ran few different ways and smell/taste profile seemed to vary slightly. saw with remo and was more cookie, saw with gh flora series/ flp+(?) and had more blueberry-esque smell/ taste..

hso bubba kush regs - lot of variation in end product but some real winners there.. one pheno was extremely dark purple dense, cloned/vegged extremely quickly, topped well, barely stretched but yielded real heavy and was so potent almost made me throw up, was scared to smoke it and was an all day smoker back then.. had 2 other real purple ones but one was an alright berry flavor, super nice frost but not a lot of potency (got seeded so probably why right there), still real nice.. the other had the scary potency of the first one mentioned however it was real airy. think have some pics laying around somewhere, will try and find when have few minutes to look....... (tried hso bubbas gift too, was real nice colorful buds nice taste too and really is done in like 7ish weeks, finishes super fast but potency just wasnt there imo.. maybe didnt run enough for good variation
..)

hso chemdawg regs - super nice plant.. 10-11 weekers but super heavy yield, crazy lemon-lime gasoline taste/smell on most, extremely vigorous growth and very potent up high.. really heavy feeder though and some phenos can be quite leafy.. but seriously.. ran handful of times, different phenos each time although most similar.. one was in 3 gal/ promix lucas formula was single stalk about 2.5 ft tall and little more than 4 zones came off it so.... do with that info what you will... another pheno that pops up in this one smells like straight up windex spray cleaner.. stings your nose.. real weird..
Do you have any advice to give? You look like you have the growing sorted :tree:

again thanks man seriously.. means a lot. always feel like could stand to learn more every time ran/run a batch but.. is what it is.. if have any specific questions will definitely give best effort to help however possible based on past experiences.. general advice personally would say first and foremost though dont get discouraged at a batch or result you dont like.. can always try again and nothing is ever perfect.. point at end of day is get to smoke some (hopefully nice.. if not? fuck it.. try again) trees and having control over what type you want to try etc.. in my mind at least.. would also say try and pick a method/formula and stick to it for a little bit till you have a handle on other variables.. dont want to change too much at once or cant get a gauge on what might be going wrong.. or even worse? might not be able to get a gauge one whats going right so can try and repeat:biglaugh: :smoke:

like to usually have at least one hydrometer (temp/rh) for every 2-3 lights if am doing space not sealed just cause temps can be so touch and go with no ac.. no matter what, sealed or unsealed though am a big believer in more air flow than you need.. ran into quite a few problems with pm after first batch ever did (was real nice, beginners luck probably.. problems came starting on second run.. room design flaws on my part, firmly believe now....) and thought for a while the solution was dehumidifiers.. well.. had friends who got crazy industrial dehues and were still dealing with it.. saw DJM's coco trees thread and saw how many fans he was using and how extreme of an environment he had created that it inspired me to try more airflow.. sure enough (knock on wood for future.. things happen though, what can you do but recover and give it another shot..) didnt have another problem with it even on same clones friends were having problems with.. like.. as in.. same exact clones, came from same exact place, plant, etc.. so.. kind of convinced me right there.. in rooms 4-6 bulbs personally always do at least 1 fan (12-16"....... wall mount oscillating of course if budget or stored equipment at time allows) per bulb, any bigger than that and would absolutely do 2 per, maybe some extra box fans on floor etc.. like to have every single leaf in the room dancing.. high rh especially late flower dont have to be too afraid of direct wind hitting nugs, might not be optimal end quality wise but have still had real nice product despite..

usually like to run ph little on high side with promix at least and if hand feeding out; between 6.3-6.7ish (more frequently than not towards the top end of that, just go by eye and what the plants are looking like.......)

has been said before but sometimes just best to keep things simple as possible.. run pictured with the fast lemon drizzle was really pretty much fed maxibloom the whole time.. tap water.. cant remember exact ppms but it was something between like 80ish and 120 or something.. wasnt too high.. would focus on enviorment and height of lights above plants etc.. suprises me all the time how resilient they are.. saw something once where gg4 clones were in 10 gal pots, hand fed daily.. huge trees, one per 1kw hps.. bulbs were maybe 6-10 inches from top of plant, no burn whatsoever, some of the nicest product ive seen (anything that cat created was crazy though.. very talented artist..).. stick to your hand sticky, 5g top colas etc.. absolutely amazing..

out? as said elsewhere definitely about diversifying your planting times/strains if you can.. if organic nutes and nice sun exposed spot, wouldnt be afraid to feed heavy.. moisture retention crystals are a huge help esp if doing minimal check ups on plants that you arent always around.. just off top of head.. if have questions ask away and if can offer any info/help absolutely will, appreciate the conversation.. got some more pics incoming here shortly..

Wow @Tahoe22

That is a room i could spend some time in. What a lovely nice natural look to it.

You must be pulling some serious weight in there.

I only ever ran one semi auto - A Positronics Red Dawn which was nice, tasted of orangey black hash and had massive 1 litre colas after 7 ish weeks but your desciption of the auto tangie has made me curious too.

Whenever we would get orange tasting weed, whether it was orange bricked weed or the neon orange funky skunky orange bud we used to get in the 90s, it was always giggly up dance weed.

Your notes on the tangie and friesland makes me very much want to try them.

I'm wondering if i could get away with a few autos on the patio outside

thanks again dude :smoker:was a fun one for sure, minimal/mixed equipment/food etc.. yoyos instead of a trellis was certainly a nostalgia fueled choice, was nice to relive a different time period for a little :biglaugh::biglaugh: only had one run there so didnt get to dial properly but run ended at little under unit/bulb so couldve been better but couldve been way worse, was happy about the quality and commenced smoking full days worth of proper gorilla finger sized joints and blunts :smokeit:

the Red Dawn sounds real nice... went and read what else could find about it, sad to see the seeds are long gone would love to give that one a shot. might go on another throwback kick here soon after all this talk :biglaugh: could use some of that giggly dance weed right about now :greenstars:

wish those sort of terps would come around more often like that again.. had a nice blueberry recently that had that proper old school stench, real cheese-like.. was great :pimp3:

you should definitely give them a shot man, by the sound of what you like? cant picture you being disappointed in the slightest. freeze ibl worth a shot on the patio as well if you planted it a little later. know late planting defeats purpose of semi auto but the smoke is real nice either way. ones planted in may (in tilled lightly ammended bed, prob would be a lot bigger in bigger holes/better spacing) only ended up about 5-6 feet tall and average yield per was around 4-6 zones per, couple heavy ones carrying right under 8 though :smoker:

whenever you get around to trying either or both of those would be great to hear your opinions/ notes on them too. that auto tangie was a real treat for a june/ july smoke! RGS strains seem to be funny like that.. so many people around my parts at least are quick to pour negative judgement on autos/semi autos/fems etc.. so its pretty funny to have them complimenting and inquiring as to the genetic background of said strains while unknowingly smoking them because they wouldnt want to even take one pull if they knew it was auto related.... closed minds miss out on a lot of nice things ya know? :smoke:

know its barely started but hows your season so far man you got anything on the go so far?
