Reproducability: cannabis and diabetes

There have been several cases of diabetes where I have seen positive impact against diabetes.

Two different forms of consumable cannabis were used.

One form is simply cannabutter.
The other is a cannabis extract disolved in peanutbutter.

With both forms, the diabetic was given an amount that would have a moderate psycoactive dose every night one hour before bed. By the third day every patient showed much lower blood sugar readings.

In one case the patient had to stop taking insulin. His blood sugar reading had fallen to 57.

In all cases when the consumption of cannabis extracts were stopped blood sugar readings began to elevate again.

Results seem to vary with strain.

White widow works.

Very interesting, I'm assuming these were Type II diabetics? Is there any supporting documentation anywhere. As a diabetic myself I've never guessed that my pain medication might also be helpful for the diabetes. Haven't tested it by ingesting but know that smoking does not have any effect on my blood sugar levels.

I've seen type 1 diabetics be able to remove insulin pumps.

Most of these people are type 2.

GW pharm has been conducting human testing with a extract of marijuana to treat type 2 with great results.

Rick Simpson noted that sugar levels have to be monitored in diabetics when using his "hemp oil."

This is not an isolated situation.

What week are you tested for gestational diabetes?I'll be 23 weeks on Monday and I have an appointment with my OB then. I thought she said I'd have to do the glucose test at that time, but she may have meant later. I wondered when you're typically tested for gestational diabetes in pregnancy? Also, I've noticed I am so thirsty lately. I know this can be a sign of diabetes. But I wondered if dry mouth/thirst is also just a symptom that some pregnant women deal with (who DON'T have diabetes)?

I don't know about gestational diabetes.
I don't recall any studies about the topic.

Historically cannabis has been used to ease childbirth.

I know the the uterus has a high concentration of cannabinoid receptors.

I've seen several cases of sugar being reduced in type 2 and a couple of cases for type 1. I've seen a couple of medical studies that noted benefit for both types of diabetes. And the Rick Simpson folks have noted the sugar reduction effect. In fact they warn to monitor sugar with diabetics that are on diabetic medication. That the regular medication may need to be lowered or eliminated. That may include elimination of insulin shots.

As for the gestational diabetes, I just don't have any information about it to pass on.

But based on how these other forms of diabetes react to cannabinoids, I would expect this form to benefit also.

I think that if there were a problem related to marijuana and gestation, we would have heard about it by now. In big bold press on the front pages of a lot of papers and as headlines on CNN.

I'm not suggesting that you try it out. I can't risk making such a suggestion.

But I think it would be good for both mother and child.
