I buy actually kind of a lot of stuff from dispensaries because it is either something I would probably never grow but want to give a shot/try, some of the gummies and edibles are legit, and of course the dabs, I might run some bubble and press it at some point, but there is stuff I'm never going to make that is cool to try, 99% thc strain specific crystals and live resins

and then there is the stuff I absolutely must check out when I see it on a menu...stardawg, I95, chem sis, chem de la chem, sour diesel

plus you never know when there might be a seed in an oz

No better way to get high quality weed than to grow your own.. It will take time to learn how to do it well.

No one cares more about your health than you do - yet one more fine reason to grow your own.
Have enjoyed concentrates most of my days, was fortunate to have grabbed an iso2 out of the back of High Times.
Follow the progress of those such as FOAF Grey and Jump117 each of whom I do think well of.
As someone who has long appreciated extracts, I have concerns with commercially prepared extracts.
In the world of commerce the dollar rules- not the precautionary principal.
Any thing a crop gets sprayed with will leave something behind.
That something will unfortunately be concentrated right along with the goodies...
Very much a matter of trust and integrity when it comes down to this sort of thing.
At this point would imagine that most who are doing this care a great deal about
what they are doing and use a great deal of integrity in what they do.
As things become more commercial going forward I do have concerns...
It is cheap to test potency, it is far more expensive to test for the various
chemicals that may be used in grows of the commercial production
of cannabis.

My dope isn't near as frosty and terpy as what the guy on the hill I was getting packs from was making. There's this very excellent article by Ras Truth *, that kinda says I need to keep working on my soil. Mr Farmer used to say "It's not easy".

I'll get there. In the meanwhile I'll just smoke more..

I remember that Iso2. If im remember right, they produce some black tar concentrates? Today's concentrates are very good from certified labs. They have no choice they have to test for everything. Im, not a concentrate fan as they hurt my lungs more than flower does. BM you will need to be careful who concentrates your using.

Another reason to process your own dabs... You know exactly what is in it :)

Most home dab makers are still using the old tech. There is only 1 Im familiar with today, the extractcraft source turbo. Today's concentrate labs are so regulated their products are far superior to what any homemaker could achieve.

Here it is lol..

One of the more innovative and amazing devices I ever ran across. Was an filtration kit available that made it possible to see nice color, from gold to bright orange. Gentleman who produced them speaks about them in a thread he has in Greywolf's current blog.

I think if you will look into it a bit more you will realise they do not in fact test for everything, nor could they even if they had the funding needed.
It gets real expensive to test for the various chemicals which might potentially be used on a crop and so they simply go what is cost effective with
the testing that is done.
It is for that reason, that I am a real fan of home pressed extract which I sublingual rather than smoke.

For smoking, what I used to go with what I thought of as reinforced cannabis, where I would basically put 10 grams worth of extract on 7 grams
of cannabis. Was about 1/3 stronger than it had been, with the flavor more enhanced also.

I don't use concentrates so it's not something Im interested in. IMO what any could make at home wouldn't be as pure/ good. From what I've read their test list is extensive. The test list on pesticides is better than the food we eat. In fact, cannabis is tested for substances far more than the food we eat. Food is allowed to have pesticides, the same pesticide cant be in cannabis. As I said they cant sell anything without testing. The lab is who goes to the sites to collect samples. The cost is irrelevant, they must test for everything on the list or they can't sell it.

What do you use to make concentrates?.

The safest route that I am aware of, is that which Hashmaster Kut did share.
Heat and pressure and gravity doing what chemicals once accomplished.
A strain of yours with by nickname of NEM makes for an excellent starting point, with viable results.
When the buds are frozen at harvest, and processed cold, the results are amazing.
Were fresh frozen pressed rosin not an option, next go to would be Frozen Quick Wash, using ethanol.

I'm not familiar with kuts method?. Fresh frozen yes.. A good lab has multiple filtrations. IMO their products are far superior to what I can make at home, unless I bought a similar extraction system for home use. Here in Cali there is a list everyone legal must test for regardless of the cost. There are some BM that also test but not many.

You smokin on some NEM extracts?. That's awesome to see she is getting out to everyone..

You may have seen footage of nugs being squeezed that show resin dripping and running out of the buds ?
That is what Kut came up with. He started out squeezing nugs with a hair iron and parchment paper...
Allows for the extraction of the goods with no chemicals what so ever.
The results are a shear delight. Frankly, the results from this are so delightful and effective,
that I see no need to deal with other routes which I did previously use.
The mere sight of the initials NEM, leave a smile on my face.
You did well with it.

Your talking about Rosin ... Yes I have a 5ton press. No chemicals are needed for this process, so I didn't associate this with concentrates.. I agree it is the cleanest tech as long as the flowers dont have pesticides in them.

... the youg bull told the old bull, look at all them cows. Let's run down the hill and fuck one. The old bull said nah... Let's walk down and fuck 'em all :)

There is nothing wrong with progress. That being said, not all progress is good nor justified, just some new fandangled marketing ploy etc... that appeals to the younger generation, for the lack of a better word. Some is of great quality and some can be downright harmful. New and improve doesn't necessarily mean new and improved. As I mentioned, the strains I seek are not available (on a regular basis), its a pig and a poke. So do I want to go the legal venue? No! I bought some of their tumble weed, while the rest (the good stuff) is being used to increase profit margins. I have absolutely no need to buy weed, which just happens to be the title of this thread :tiphat:

... and yes, I have built my own rosin press and, my buds are clean :) No one, and I mean no one can guarantee me that. Just look at all the crap that our food contains, and that is supposed to be heavily regulated... I'll just sit here Comfortably Numb from the fruits of my labour!

I’m not to impressed with “legal” pot either. There are two labs in this state and there is shady shit going on. You can pay more for a better test result. From what I have heard even in Cali not all labs are that great and are susceptible to putting out great results to attract more customers who want good test results. Idk it just came out in my state they sold a ton or a couple tons of moldy weed.
Of course this in comparison to what I grow which I know what’s in it.

Cannabis is more regulated than food crops are. If any labs are lying about their test results that is a different issue. Remember don't do the crime if you cant do the time.
