An update on Old Galleries.

We've managed to run a test import using a few thousand images and the end result will be a better system than was on the legacy vb3 version of the site.

Our test import was able to create a Legacy Gallery for each user in the XenForo media gallery system with categories of the 'Old Galleries' imported correctly and created in Xen. Included in the import is any title data, image description and view count although that view count might be pre vb3 because there was a weird module in that version of ICMag that kind of operated outside of the old Photo Post system that was used to create the galleries originally.

One thing we don't have available is any ratings or comments that were attached to the images, these were not available / visible on the legacy site anyway so I'm not classing that as a huge loss as we're ending up with more data imported and available than on the old vb3 version of the site anyway.

We are working on this and it is a priority! I'll update soon. @Gypsy Nirvana

Just letting you know we’ll be hitting the import button on live on Tuesday. The galleries will slowly start appearing and the import will run in the background. Think it might take until the end of the week to complete so things might be a bit weird with the old galleries until complete. 👍

Hey all.

So, we've finally imported all of the Old Galleries into XenForo. These galleries were in a system called Photo Post which pre-dated even the VB3 version of ICMag from what we can tell.

In total we've imported over 578k photos from the legacy module and have added them to a new media category titled Legacy Galleries. Now, the old version of ICMag (the one prior to the previous shitshow) loaded these images into a semi broken widget that drew all images you had in a paginated image viewer. We've gone a bit further than that and have imported these images into your XenForo media albums so they no longer exist outside of the forum. On top of that we've also dug out the actual category names used in Photo Post so if you go to the root of the Legacy Galleries section you'll be able to view them by category.

If you had an 'Old Gallery' it will appear on the very last page of your album list, so if you have 9 pages of albums it will appear as the very last one, as well as on your profile, all legacy images and galleries can be found here: https://www.icmag.com/media/categories/legacy-galleries.1/

All of these images on ICMag VB3 were public and the same permissions apply here. If you want them hidden go into your image or album and make it private.

Related to this, we're aware of a bit of a weird issue where in certain Xen albums (not these recently imported ones) the thumbnail has been generated but when you click to view the full screen version it's unable to load it. This is caused by a webserver redirect issue and is something we're working on.

So yeah, we've been able to save over half a million old images and group them into the correct categories and import them into the new forum software properly without the need for add-on modules.

Thanks for bearing with us, this was an absolute cluster fu**.

To add to my previous email. Only registered members will be able to see anything in the legacy gallery category so guests won't have access. (y)
