MBS test grow .......

as i said before, this is the year to seed, so it might just be very possible. im making my nightmare diesel, if i find a good pair, also crossing it to white strawberry diesel, mbs, and z99. then planning on running f2 of blackberry banana kush, followed by insane jane..... looks like i better hold on to any mbs males as well! going to have my own seed bank soon since i always do a full plant seeding!

Went a bit overboard on the seeding last year , just doing partial pollinations for a couple of hundred now and trying to work through a decent number of a fridgefull.

This antipodes is sidelit on the edge of the grow , shaded side is a strange pastel violet , side faceing the light is deep purple , not noticed this before as i usually move or turn them every day or two.

I know i have said it here before but i will say it again, lovely work m8, loving the show and your work. The colours contained in your antipodes line are almost soothing, calming yet inviting.
Much respect

Thanks ijdc and happyherb , suprisingly difficult to capture purple shades accurately and slight differences in peoples gamma settings means most see something slightly different anyway.

Hi moonunit , the pastel shades on some are really beautifull , this has the brilliant white pistills that usually fade to a glorious gold wire on purple look by the end.

Seem to have rooting late flower clones nailed down , eight days , all have revegged easy so far.

picture.php

This is a quick test of the dark original MBS girl , crossed with the selected male from a recent Casey Jones run.
No idea which traits will dominate this mix and the male is unworked , smokeing a mixture of the two lines suggests it could be very satisfying and seriously strong.

These were by far the worst quality seed i made last year , mother was way too late in and only got 25 days till root aphids finally killed it , still 10 ex 10 which shows some enthusiasm at least.

The green antipodes are cute , this is nearly as short as the mother , serious MBS clinging sweaty odours on this pale one , rottencrotch expression , low yield but gets a second run.

Mrs Foomar says it smells like thrush , will take her word for that.

picture.php

This compact bushy one has the tart burnt rubber smell of the mother , looser bud structure , thinner leaves and heavy underleaf triching , not a keeper.

picture.php

Hard not to take a pic of this one , reckon i got lucky within the first thirty this time , lost the unpleasent Blackberry taste and kept most of the colour , the MBS has vastly improved the structure and vigour , the mother is very compact with small running buds on thin stems , not seen these traits expressed in any antipodes so far.

Six clones following , this one warrants a bit of space and a trial in hydro for yield , if it comes in below 65 days it will be popular locally.

Believe there may be sterility issues with some Blackberry genetics , could not get a strike with three C99 X Blackberry males , the darkest males from an extensive C99 X Blackberry x Geisha test produced a handfull of near black males and only one will pollinate and produce viable seed.

Similar issues with Blackberry crosses from other sources that i have not documented on here in respect of site rules.

The original clone seems to have dissapeared with Nebu , who sits in a swiss cave guarding the precious like gollum , as its possibly the only true canna mutation found i would have loved a chance to play with it.

Convicted for turning dreams into reality
Brilliant work all around.
Just a quick question if i can. What´s your cloning method?
Quite impressive those roots on a flowering side branch and how fast did they change to reveg. Any clues on that?
Sorry for picking up your brains ;)
Keep up the great work please.

hey foomar ,
usually i dont like when folks quote and show all the pics again , but those are certainly worthy of a second view ..

interesting how most of the males you found in the c99 bb lot were sterile ,
recalling the female i used took easily to seed from its c99 stud ,, '
but i didnt use any males of t hat variety ,,
mine were sourced from ogerguskid , not sure of the actual name , but most know who i refer too ..
they were an s1 , quite pretty flowers ,, lots of resin ,, reminded me of durban poison ...

i get a lot of joy seeing how t he mbs has married with the c99 blackberry ,
i was confident it could make a nice union , and soo pleasing to see the work youve done foomar to make it so ..]
i might have missed where u mention the flavour , smell , from the last pic of antipodes , so happy if you elaborate more , a second time if so , hehe ..

Thanks for the positive comments , would be hard to take a bad pic of some of these but struggling with lighting , a couple just stop you dead when you walk in the room and demand to be photographed , hope they smoke as good.

Paulo , just a basic and filthy bubbler with no dome , rootzone temp maintained at 78 f , stem abraded and dry powder rooting agent rubbed in.

Working well right up to chop day , 4 - 6 weeks till reflower , even with the reveg they catch up fast , look healthier out of LED lights.

picture.php

Would never go back to a roomfull of one plant , screw the yield its going to look lovely till spring in the cold.

picture.php

This reminds me of some coral a mate has in his reef aquarium.

picture.php

This one is late to reveal colour , hint of purple around the leaf margins and no red stemmed trichomes , generic C99 odours , minimal Blackberry colour traits here and should have MBS flavour dominant bud by the end.

picture.php

Hi Donald , the Antipodes and MBS F,2s have a similar and overlapping range of odours , the most desirable ones to me seperate the flavour and colour components , takeing a preferred flavour range from the male side.

The colours are a joy and its a good sharp smoke , but the aftertaste of burnt insulation is a problem and its better mixed than alone.

Worked well with a Geisha male , better colour and more of them with the MBS male , haveing C99 on both parental lines may be reduceing a predicted large number of expressions and throwbacks to a manageable and workable number.

From the reasonable number of the Geisha cross grown out , the Blackberry genes have six identifiable markers that occur in certain pairs , some always present and some mutually exclusive.
Different pairing with the MBS male , crossing the two worked lines eventually could be interesting and produce the missing expressions.

Half the girls of all colours are sweet citrus variants , half are MBS fuel/medicinal , one DC influenced heavy meaty indica , the plant pictured is sharp grapefruit fadeing fast to something danker.

Two MBS f2,s have distinct delicate strawberry odours when glassed , taste wiped out when lit but nice to crumble , a very wide range of flavours turning up in these.

Can get away with haveing them packed this tight under the light as long as i move and turn regular , a poor way to do it but gets the numbers through.

And if they cannot tolerate a little stress i dont want them , cant keep everything and this allows a cull of the bicurious first run.

The lower node sideshoots have all been stripped for clones , allows good ventilation to help offset the risk of mould from touching leaves.

With this number of metre high untopped plants under a 600 , this should be a sea of despair.
If you create a box of green with stageing you can grow acceptable plants with half the light levels reccommended.

The odd really tall one that goes past the reflector seems little bothered , strangely the trichomes are just as dense being underlit with reflected light.

This top of this tall green MBS dominant girl barely saw a direct photon but is potent stuff , indistinguishable from the original MBS mother apart from the alarming stretch in veg.

picture.php

Other crosses with Wally,s plant have thrown very few individuals that show no Blackberry traits at all , the MBS male is far more dominant than a Geisha previously worked in this respect.

But these two definately show some Blackberry pastel colours , though a blind grower would probably choose different expressions , they are more than eye candy.

Potency is around half that of the Chem D x Casey running alongside , the original MBS are generally stronger than the Antipodes , which means i can smoke more of it

picture.php

This one is a real cutie , has the asymetric fan structure to the top from seed , another grapefruit smelling one in mid flower , seems common across expressions.

picture.php

Picking up some gold .

picture.php

And should end up looking like the C99 x Blackberry mother from years back in the thread that started the purple madness ......

hey foomar, i wonder if i can bother you with a couple of pics on wednesday.... im nearing the time of my own project and as soon as im sure of male/female which appears to be two of each, im going to need your expert eyes to tell me the best female for my project. i can post the girls here or pm you.

Hi jonny , would take moonunits or Donalds opinion on that if you have to choose just one.
In reality its such a small additional effort to use both males seperately on both girls and label everything that i would suggest this option.

Cant tell any real difference between males in my simple MBS incross , but run enougth and you probably will , all other well worked crosses have .

This was emerald green a week ago and picking up normal cold colours fast.

picture.php

This is looking good , very like the mother without the bitch to trim structure.

Two really cold nights and one has gone so dark i did not recognise it at first , still actively growing thanks to the relatively warm roots in a redesigned room.

picture.php

Mouldy fruit smell is alarming , close to the feared budrot odour and caused a minor panic.

This one has a different expression of the colour traits , has gained a pronounced sugar leaf upcurl and a lot of trichs along with the important stem structure.
