Day 199: 135V + 64F

One thing with the typhoon, was that the old main gate got blown in.
So I could easily just go in from there rather than through the bat cave.
It's easier, and means I don't have to go through the mud in the bat cave.

Went up the stairs wondering what I'd see.
Would they have been hit hard by the wind even inside?
It's open on several sides, just not directly exposed.
Would those broken colas and main stem be dead already?
Would they even be dead and starting to rot or worse??
It was already 5 or 6 days by now...
I thought they'd be okay for water, but wasn't fully sure.

I was treated with a lovely surprise!
Not only were they still safe there, but all those broken colas seemed still alive and well!
Not even wilted or drooping!
Amazing!
This plant never ceases to amaze me, for sure.

Both phenos looking very good.
Most fans gone, but still a few up top.

Two Grail (fast pheno) x ThaiFrican seed plants

Taller pheno first
Flowers popping out all over the place.
Already showing some foxtailing traits.

PXL_20241005_073409997.jpg

Medium pheno
More leafy in the buds.
Shorter stockier flowering.

PXL_20241005_073418260.jpg

Both phenos also lost almost all fan leaves.
Not a huge problem, as they're otherwise fairly green.
Just sativa flowering characteristics I think.

One re-vegged Grail (NLD pheno)

PXL_20241005_073607182.jpg

She also has lost most fans.
On the other plants the leaves drop off, but this girl they tend to yellow, then die, but don't drop as easily.

After the last damage, I'm amazed and very happy.
But we'll have to wait and see if they heal, or if the problem is just delayed a little.
Still some wind out there tonight.
Rain won't be good for the damaged stems -- no rain now, but probably in a couple of days.
Let's just wait and see.
I'll try to put in a better splint support on the Grail x ThaiFrican as soon as I can.
Maybe think about what's possible for the SSSTN splits as well.

Happy growing, my friends.
Stay safe! Blaze on!

Peace and Love,
~MJS

They are survivors! 🥳

They sure are! Sun is out today.
Let's hope they can keep that strength until harvest for those colas.

Maybe the Cannabis gods are watching out for the grow?

They are. I did a homa for Sri Annapurnesvari Devi today.
It's Navaratri, so nine devis in total.
Sri Annapurnesvari is goddess of agriculture and crops.

Such a shame to see the damage from the weather , but what an amazing show 😍 you have put on for us 👏 🙌, and they look amazing and matured compared to your first run from seed which they didn't want to flower fully , and these look amazing and the flowers from this run will be 10x better in taste/potency than the last run , when the plants were slow to mature.

Thanks for your support, Boss!
I've been comparing the pics at the same time of flowering (since showing pistils) for the two runs.
They are really very different, in several ways, but you can see they're still the same plants.
For the re-vegged girls, that is.
Yield is going to be 20x, haha!

Four seeds of the ThaiFrican (Outback Haze 2 x (NH23 x Kariba)) just hit the soil.
Two small seedling pots, two seeds per pot.
...
Next will be (two or three) fem Super Silver Sour Thai Nevil and (four to six) reg Lemon n Lime Incense.

Four more little seedling pots prepared, sitting in an east-facing window.
Four seeds of the NH x MM regs (two each in two pots) -- need some potential males!
Two seeds of the Super Silver Sour Thai Nevil (in one pot).
Two seeds of the Thai Madness (in one pot).

Happy Birthday to my beloved Super Silver Sour Thai Neville twins and Grail Project girls.

One year old today!

Day 204: 135V + 69F

Still quite cloudy with touches of light rain.
Very cool for Oct, down to 25C/22C today.
Sun and temps will be back in a couple of days!

Almost all fan leaves gone by now, except tops of the two SSSTN phenos.
The three broken stems/colas -- taller Grail x ThaiFrican main stem, two big SSSTN colas -- are not very happy or healthy. They are losing leaves faster, less flower growth, more yellowing.
But the other non-broken colas / tops are still in good color and health.

Seven small Super Silver Sour Thai Neville (Sticky pheno) x ThaiFrican seed plants

Interesting assorted mix of phenos, for sure!
They're more exposed to the light now.
Most are smaller bud-sticks, but a couple are getting longer and taller and bigger.
PXL_20241010_052439689.jpg

Pheno on right looks like a 'Pearl' candidate!

PXL_20241010_052458125.jpg

Maybe too much N or water for this girl.
Osmocote on her shoes?
Or just the SSSDH from mom shining thru?

PXL_20241010_052503689.jpg

Interesting pheno, looks nice.
Two blurry phenos in behind are taking their time and getting a lot bigger.
(Top of pic is prob their sibling by another mother, the Grail x ThaiFrican tall pheno -- same dad.)

Day 204: 135V + 69F

Tall pheno of Grail Project (fast pheno) x ThaiFrican

PXL_20241010_052330704.jpg

The main stem cola, badly broken, but still hanging in there.

PXL_20241010_052317623.jpg

Lower big branch below the break point, much healthier!

PXL_20241010_052322878.jpg

Lots of smaller but chunky buds like this on her.

PXL_20241010_052346222.jpg

Another lower branch top.

PXL_20241010_053145327.jpg

Same cola but with some funky street art!

Medium pheno of Grail Project (fast pheno) x ThaiFrican

PXL_20241010_052354895.jpg

Main top of this girl is a little disappointing at this point.
Very leafy, small small calyxes.
But still some time to go, and things will change.

PXL_20241010_052404689.jpg

Re-vegged Grail Project (NLD pheno)

Much chunkier looking that first time with her.
PXL_20241010_052415724.jpg

PXL_20241010_052425896.jpg

Another cola.

Yet another cola on this girl at the back, for art!

Are you going to try cobs this year? It is the end the season here so I will harvest this week and am thinking I will try cob making.
I think I will try, but still haven't really come up with a plan about how to do it exactly.
My main problem is that it will be very hard to 'sweat' them, getting the temps up.
As I've mentioned earlier in the thread (a long time back!), I don't do anything at home.
So I can't bring them home and put them somewhere with the increased temps to sweat them.

I'll probably end up keeping some nice flower as flower, and cobbing the other material.
I think I will dob/brick the damaged colas, because they're already showing they're not ideal.
May just mean bricking it somehow, probably by first doing a basic dry, and then compressed into containers.
I think some sealable glass containers would probably work well.
Did think about doing bamboo tubes, but not sure how I'd seal the ends.
Or I could do wraps in lotus, banana, bamboo or some other kind of leaves we commonly use here.
I guess that would allow moisture to pass out, but then finding a nice dry place to let them sweat it out is hard.

Whatever the case, thanks for the reminder on this.
Though I really need to set up for the cut and dry before I can think about cobbing and/or storing!

It was a good thing I visited today.
They were quite thirsty.
I guess the temps are back up into 30C+ and the winds are strong.
Sun and temps mean more flowers, but more work watering for Maria.
They were blown around a bit in the winds too.
So I gave them a good drink and rearranged them among the ropes.

Those damaged colas are still hanging in there, but not so great.

Not sure if I'm just over worrying, but I do feel this round the flowers/calyxes are smaller.
The buds are putting on a bit of size now.
Almost at 11 weeks.
I'm counting them all at the same time for flowering,
but that is really the time for the Grail x ThaiFricans,
and the SSSTN is maybe 7-10 days later, and the Grail girl maybe 7 days later.
So for them figuring 10 weeks, they still have maybe 4-6 weeks left.
Should be time to fatten up and those calyxes to swell.

Buds looking much better and more advanced compared to 1st run, I'm guessing to a much better season this time of the year.
if you can take it another 3- 4 weeks potency/taste will be amazing compared to last run that didn't have the sun it has had this season.

Great show you put on for us 🙏 and I'm happy to send you more seeds for the great show you doing this run

Hey OJD, thanks for stopping by!

I was just comparing pics of when they started flowering -- all fresh green and near perfect health, against them now -- a bit batted and broken.
Potential was much greater, but there's a reason why I usually don't grow in this place for a regular summer-fall season -- heat and typhoons!

I'm going to take them as far as possible.
Looking at climate data, the coldest temp for November here in the last 30 years was like 12C.
But usually November is about 20C-23C.
November is also usually the driest (or one of the driest) months, too.
They'll need some hand watering, but not a lot by then.

End of November will be a solid 15 weeks or so for the SSSTN, and maybe 16-17 for the others.

We have the finish line in sight, just have to keep things nice and steady from here on in.
