Light Dep Hoophouse 2015

Hey IC im new to this forum and im inspired by all the greenhouse growers in this forum so i made this thread to show my greenhouse journey from beginning to end. I currently have a property in Shasta County that I bought last year and did my first outdoor grow that unfortunately got harvested early by the local sheriff. Recently i found out that Shasta County banned outdoor grow so it made me turn over to the light dep route this year to hopefully get at least one successful harvest on my property. I know im late in the season and should have already built my greenhouse by now so any help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated. My property currently has no electricity so ill be limited on what i can have with a generator.

Frame
Im trying to build a 20x80 light dep GH made out of PVC similar to this video. Any suggestions on this or alternatives?

Covers

http://envirotechgreenhouse.com/coverings

EGH seems to have affordable covers but there seem to be many choices. Ive seen different greenhouses on this forum with either clear or white covers and was curious to know what was the difference. My guess was that the white cover is to stay under the radar from helicopters flying over to see what you're growing but i can be wrong. Besides the clear one they seem to have 2 different poly woven materials the 140 and 170 what do you guys recommend between the 3 or which one brings in more light for my plants?

FFG is a little pricey but my guess is that you get what you pay for so maybe the quality is better? They have 3 different kinds of covers the Top Tier Polyweave, Standard Polyweave , and the Top Tier breathable polyweave. Which one would you guys recommend or would it be better to go with EGH fabrics

Black Out Tarp
Since im doing light dep ima need a black out tarp and after doing research it seems like theres alot of different alternatives to go with. I also heard that some black out tarps will make it very humid and since i dont have electricity to have good ventilation that will be an issue im concerned about.

https://www.growerssupply.com/farm/...er_fabrics_1-gs_storage_tarps_2;pg108597.html

my first choice is from grower supply because it seem to have the best pricing but not sure if the quality is good because the price is alot cheaper than the other retailers.

2nd choice is cover superstore i read somewhere in another thread that this is a good alternative. any opinion on this?

FFG seems to always be the priciest but since they've been around the longest and specialize in greenhouses they might have the best quality. They have 3 different fabrics available the Top Tier Non-breathable blackout, Standard Non-breathable Blackout, and triple layer breathable. What do you guys recommend?

As for Pulling the tarp over since i will be manually pulling it I was thinking about using the harvest excel golden arm unless there is another efficient and more affordable technique?

Ventilation
Since I have no electricity in my property I will be very limited on what ventilation i can use and i know that it can get quite humid inside the GH when the black out tarp is over. I was looking thru videos and threads and the only method i can think of to get air flowin is to lift the sides of the GH cover with a clamp on the pvc. Curious to know what the other fellow growers are doing for ventilation with no electricity.

As for right now i am currently building the frame and will update this thread once its built. Thanks for reading any help and suggestion is greatly appreciated. Really excited to join this community and show you guys my journey :tiphat:

I really think you are fucked with out electricity, sorry but u need some big fan to run the outtake atleast and also internal fans are in my growing enviroment a must.

My advise is 2 let maximum space pr plant so u have a big volume of air that can hold the moiste

Or make a dark cycle so u dark out 12 houres befor the sun goes up, that way you can minimize the time of your cover has to be on the greenhouse.

not true you are not fucked...many in your area, and all over the triangle, have no power, and many still dep...you can run a small honda if you need power..
or the green way would be to pull the tarps at 5:30 pm-6:00pm every night and pull it off once its completely dark...mid summer about 10:30pm...early august about 9:30pm...this lets it breathe..if you are going to cover it with a layer of clear then you will need power for serious ventilation..but most of my friends and i leave the hoops uncovered, and just pull the tarps.... this has been done with no problems repeatedly in the past.
how is yours coming out?

I would like to reconvene this thread for help with some ideas of my own for the coming 2016 season. Would like to have a total of 99 plants, 33 full season 66 light dep. I cant decide between one large structure for light dep with shorter veg, or rows of hoop houses with longer veg. Based on finances i am thinking larger plants in hoop houses, only a blackout tarp. But then you run into soil costs and indoor space to veg. I suppose i could start veg with a plastic film on the hoops using supplemental lighting and heat. If anyone has suggestions, wants to brainstorm or can tag me in some threads id be stoked. Thanks
