Khalifa Kibungan grow diary

Long time no see! I had a deroute into almost the exact opposite of sativa landraces - autoflower indicas - but now I’m back in the game. While I’m spoiled with options (you gotta chill with all these awesome sales, dubi!), I decided to go for Kibungan, as it sounded like an interesting strain with very little experience to find online.

We’re around 45 days into the grow now, so I’m just gonna post a timeline of pics here and then try to post more regularly. I’ll be switching to flower soon, but I’m not sure what’s the optimal light cycle.

As you can see in the later pictures, I’m doing some lazy LST. My last grow really benefitted from keeping things vertical, so I’m gonna stick with that.

Nice Fawcett, I'll be watching your posts. I recently ordered Kibungan to play with. The narrow leaf together with fruity smell and the amount of trichomes in the photos caught my attention. I ran a Kerala (TRSC) grow last winter for seeds (no grow log cause too busy and the few pictures I took are crappy) and I love that Kerala as much as Mauritius x Ethiopia. Beautiful plants, quite potent and the smell was pure fruit/candy, it does not smell to "weed" at all. Next run will be Kibungan together with Kerala and if they are similar I will make a cross.

With Kerala I started with 6 weeks 13.5 hours daylight and dropped this to 11 and finally 10 for flowering.

So much for the regular updates….

Anyway, I switched to 13/11 lightcycle a month ago. I had lady luck on my side as after a couple of weeks pistils started to appear on both plants.

The plants have appeared very similar so far, but they behave a bit differently in flowering. One of them seem to mature somewhat faster with more pistils and greater stretching (p1, right; p2). We’ll see when the other (p3) catches up.

So we’re like two months into flower and I got murder on my mind. It seems like the lagging plant will never catch up and might have a too natural phenotype, so it might be better to end it and focus fully on the other one. The difference should be real obvious below.

When I said the stretching had stopped, I was completely wrong; I had to bend the stem as it was not possible to raise the light further.

Thanks for the update.

Interesting leafy plants. Kind of feathered. I have the same thing with my Kibungans. 1 plant is faster then the other and both are much slower than my Kerala. I will update my Kibu report with some pics.

What light hours are you on now?

Thanks man! Cool to see other people are doing Kibungan! How far are yours? I'm doing 13/11 which induced signs of flowering after a few weeks.

I'm hoping these wont take too long to finish. We're exactly two months into flower now and I'm hoping that I can have these done before November comes around.

Thanks Fawcett,

See my Kibungan topic. Kibungan is much slower than my Kerala. Still months to go, continuing with 14/10 dark/light. Not sure if they are ripe enough before November. I aim at cutting everything early December and having the box empty over the holidays.
