Do you plan on using up the medical before you fly back? Ive always stashed mine in my checked baggage. Never had issues flying anywhere

Better off putting it in a small priority mail box and send it from legit, but not you, address. Bag it a few times to show some respect.

I have always had my checked baggage gone through. Always.

I have always had my checked baggage gone through. Always. They have never looked at the carry on snack in a paper burger joint bag that goes through x ray with carry on. Never looked through jacket pockets.
But they never look in my pockets, jacket, or the burger joint snack I carry on.

Technically, no. Air travel is still regulated by the FAA and TSA.

However, in most locations, TSA has made it relatively clear (to varying degrees and in various ways) that they're looking for risks to air travel, not stash. So unless your weed is so potent that it might cause a pilot to crash or passengers to mutiny, they're not specifically looking for you.

That said, a prick of a TSA agent/officer (what ever they glorify themselves as, in re. to title) can still search, note, and call in local LEO or Airport LEO if so inclined. Depending on location, that can result in anything from a citation, to a mere incident report, to a bad day.

Best to have it in your carry-on, perhaps in a canister that doesn't say, "THIS IS MY WEED!" on it.

But have you seen their lines lately? They -don't- want the 300 passengers immediately behind you grumbling at them over a few joints that might cause the others to miss a flight.

Some airport police have had specific amounts posted as a non-issue, much to the disgruntlement of the TSA/FAA. Seattle for a time, and maybe still, fit that description.

There you have it. Clear as mud. Not the green light or simple yes/no answer you were looking for, probably, other than technically the feds say, "Don't do it." Just like the Highway Patrol says "don't drive over 55." or what ever the limit is where you are. And your church says to give them 10% of your income.

Edit: I have flown with weed fairly regularly when traveling by air in the last many years; mostly for medical reasons.

I have -always- (but for one trip to Sitka to escort my daughter home) had it in my carry-on, often in a canister. I have felt more comfortable when flying Seattle to Alaska than Alaska to Seattle, but have done both. Though more often Seattle to Alaska.

The trip to Sitka, I had it inside a collapsible avalanche shovel handle, sealed in a custom food saver bag, and taped, then inside a dry-bag with other arctic gear as we were driving my daughter's vehicle home, so I flew down with emergency gear in a serious dry-bag. X-ray typically can't penetrate metal. "Know thine enemy" :)

If I had pending appointments of a serious nature, and couldn't readily withstand the delays an incident might cause, I have simply procured the weed when I arrived in Wa. State, or had someone who was generous bring it by once there.

The idea of sending a -sealed- (even double-sealed) pouch of cannabis (preferably with the pouch then placed inside a taped metal <like a butter cookie> tin inside a flat-rate USPS Priority Mail box), is a smart choice, too. Just remember that the USPS currently is not quite as reliable as they once were.
