How old are your seedlings "ideally" when set outdoors?

I get my seedlings going by April 1st so I can pre-sex most of them. I want them big enough they show hairs by late May-June instead of waiting until August. Just transplanted them into 1 gal containers.
I like that strategy esp. if one has the room.
So into 1 gallon, at 4 week, sounds great too. I can't seem to source any 1 gal. pots (7 inch) locally. They make them, I have one. Chapman ice cream does come a 4 liter square plastic tub, (perfect) but I won't be able to eat enough of it in time, so I'm stuck with my 5.5 inch pots for this year.

I'm going to start soaking round 2 within the hour.
Round one, at 8 (some 7) days.
