Hash

I wanted to share a little bit of information with those who
may still wonder if making hash out of your old, crappiest leaf
and trim matter is worth the effort. Listen to this...
My last (it was also my first) grow consited of four Heavy Duty
Fruity clones and two Skunk #1 clones, the latter having been added
to the grow tent because someone just dropped them off one day and I
couldn't stand to see them just die. So I made two extra
places in the tanks...one in each tank...to accommodate them.

Now I made every ugly, stupid, forehead-slapping mistake that
a new grower can make. There were huge light leaks in the grow tent (not my fault on that score...the tent was set up for me by none other than a
grow shop owner who should have known better) that you could
read a newspaper by, and the ventilation was non-existant due
to the muffed tent installation. The plants weren't getting any air-exchange whatsoever. I also over-fed them until they nearly died, but managed to bring them back with help from people like you all at the forums, Then I under-fed them, of course, all the rest of the way through their 12/12 period
I didn't raise the light in equal measures to match the growth
of the plants, and of course I burned the hell out of the top of one, which
deformed in a most pitiful manner.
When it was time to harvest, which was waaay later than they
should have (I don't wonder why), the THC crystal count was
like zero. You had to really get close and stare at the buds
for a little while to be able to see any trichomes. It was
pitiful...the whole experience was a nightmare.

So I smoked the buds, gave a lot away to less-fortunate mates because that's sort I am, until it all ran out.
I had kept all the leaf trim and bud trim because I had heard
that you are supposed to do that. I dried all of that mess on newspapers for
a week, then popped it all in a big Tupper Ware tub with the
lid tightly sealed, and placed them in my deep freezer for a
few months.

I have since run out of all of my smoke, and my next crop of
AK-47 and Biddy Early (doing everything by the book this
time..and all is going spectacularly well!!!) won't be ready
for another few weeks, so I have been in a right state with my
severe pain issues and loss of appetite. I went about ten days
with virtually nothing to smoke, when the idea suddenly hit me to try
and make some hash out of my leaf and trim matter in the
freezer.
I did a little reading, discovered that I could run it
all through a frame covered with silk-screen material, so I
bought some and built a sifter. I just took the glass and
photo out of an old picture frams (wooden) and stapled the silk
screen material, which I purchased at the local material store
for less than £3 per Sq. meter. (See pictures)
I spent that evenig slowly, carefully rubbing the crumbled
matter over the screen again and again and agaiin sometimes
tapping the screen as well. I ended up with a smallish pile of
greenish/light-brown dust.
I still had my doubts about the whole thing, given the absolute
worthless quality of the embarrassing buds those plants produced,
but I was going to try it out and just see.

I spent the next several hours grinning and laughing like a
loon because my little pile of "crap" had gotten me so
incredibly wrecked I couldn't believe it! And when that was
gone I ran the crumbled waste matter through the screen again, and guess what? I got shit-faced from all of that as well! I am now in the third run
of making hash from that exact same bowl of shit-weed, and even
THAT get's me ripped!

So, take a lesson from a guy who knows beyond a shadow of a
doubt that even your worst leaf and trim matter will make
excellent hash!

Thanks for the kind words! I can't wait to make some hash with a proper Bubble-Bag or Bubble-Sac or Ice-o-later (can't make up my mind!) and my AK-47 bud when it finishes here in the not-to-distant future.

And to answer your question, trevsharper, the screen is 85 line mesh. It's the same screen that is used in all screen-printing shops.

Later!

Nice show MD. everyone who doesn't have bags should try this. It's criminnal to grow out those plants and throw away the leaf matieral. This was a nice lesson for us all. Come back again when you make that Ak-47 hash.

Thanks Smokey! An amazing revelation to be sure. And you answer Trev's question, the line-count must be 85. If you simply ask for 85-line silk screen material, they should know just what you mean, mate. Cheap to buy, easy to staple to the frame, and a lot of fun to make.

In my case it meant a lot of extra pain from the physical effort involved (which would be nothing to the rest of you who are able-bodied) so I am not too keen on trying that again. I will have to save up my money (nearly impossible to accomplish on a disabled person's income) for a few months and then see if I can find a used Bubble-Sac or Ice-o-later or whatever to help me make the hash.

I require the most potent smoke I can acquire to even put a small dent in the pain that my Morphine patches do their best to cover. Nothing is perfect, and Morphine is no exception. It quells the majority of my pain, but never takes it all away so I am always in some sort of moderate to sever pain. Hash is about the only thing I can count on that will afford me a few hours of pure, pain-free time.

I hope you guys have fun if you decide to try and make your own screens! Enjoy!
