Foxy Kalichakra

Run this girl twice, first under a HPS 400, H34d Coco formula using Jungle Juice Micro/Bloom, now with Canna A+B under 292W of SILs, she foxtailed like crazy...

Kalichakra, 10 weeks - chop time

Kalichakra, 10 weeks - chop time - 100% Crop
picture.php

Summary:
- 252W DIY SIL "wood grid" hood
- 80x80x160cm Tent
- Canna coco 100%
- PH - Nitric Acid
- Canna A+B at 1/2 strength + Yara SOP (1/2gr 10L weeks 0-4, 1/4gr/10L 5-9th week), Canna PK 13/14 1/2ml per 10L (weeks 4-9). EC never exceeded 1.3EC.
- 70/30 rain/tap water 100% of the grow
- Latest 3 days flush straight tap water PH'd to 5.6
- Automated fertigation dripping: 1hour once per day. Each dripper flows 3,6L per hour, this was a thirsty plant so got two drippers. About 5% runoff.

This single plant would have fully populated the tent, I'm sure quality would have been even higher if she wouldn't have been cramped in there.

I used this Kelvin setup:

Had to source SILs at different wattages than planned, real life figures:
2700K 11W x 10 = 110W
5000K 15W x 6 = 90W
6500K 13W x 4 = 52W

Total: 252W. Actual draw: 241W.

More details and grow log on the SIL Tent journal thread.

The amount of resin on this run is unbelievable, nugs may be slightly smaller than from the HPS run, but there are much more bud sites, with really homogeneous sizes, almost down to the pot. Really happy with the Kelvin mix used, plenty of resin even on the underneath of leaves...

That's the most foxtailing I've ever seen on a plant. You certainly know what you are doing! You brought the very best out of that plant.. I love mandala's stuff! Thanks for photos!

Kalichakra was the first strain I grew indoors. It is an extremely vigorous strain and will quickly outgrow it's space; before I knew it the Kalis were touching the 8ft. ceiling. I didn't know anything about training at that point and just let it do what ever it wanted. This was in a 2 gallon pot. If you give it a big enough pot and enough space, it will grow into a monster. I think they would be giants grown outdoors. Love the high too.
Looks like you have a pretty high percentage of amber trichs. Do you always chop with a high percentage of amber?

Resin coverage is outstanding. Great grow!

Creeperpark: thank you! I'm still learning though :) nute plan is Absolem's. Key part was the use of nitric acid thanks to c64 advice in his thread.

Thanks rexamus!

Thanks Evergreen! Kalichakra is also the first strain I grew indoors.

This one doesn't stretch so madly, though it never stops stretching, much slower at the end though. Seems to be some sort of pure sativa pheno expression hidden in the parental lineages lost in the age of time.

The high is very balanced. Waiting for some cure on this one, potency is there.

You're right, high percentage of amber, I wanted to see her finishing to learn more about her... but certain unexpected circumstances prevented me from chopping when I wanted.

Now I know from clone I can chop any day at 9->10th week when I see peak ripeness (reddish-pinkish tones).

I wonder if the Kali has been changed over the years. The seeds I had were about 2013 vintage. I had 2 phenos. One pheno grew about 6 feet tall and the other hit the ceiling at 8 feet and kept growing bending over the top cola. The thing was out of control. Still to this day the most vigorous plant I've ever grown. Big, beautiful and very healthy. Would have made a great mother had I known what I was doing back then.
I had three of the tall pheno and two of the 6 footers; so the tall ones weren't unusual.

I'm going to have to get a pack of Kalichakra and grow them again. I forgot about her because, after her, I wanted to try everything. Now that I think back on it, my first strain was one of the best I've grown over the years. Thanks for reminding me about her.

What camera do you use? What macro lens do you use?

That macro was taken with a Canon EOS 10D, regarding the lens I possibly used a Canon 100mm 2.8 macro USM as is my staple for macros.

Latest pictures were taken using a EOS 6D, same lens. Much better gear, but latest macros were all taken without tripod, nor shutting off the fans, etc... and it's apparent in the pictures. Not much time lately :)

Siever: yes!

:thank you: Koondense! I'm already enjoying her. I love her taste so much I tend to smoke just for the sake of it...

Try both :)

I'd say Kalichakra high is as Mandala says, a Ying/Yang one. You can either listen to music, and relax, or socialize and be more active (with a relaxed attitude) if desired.

Is a "tamed sativa" when it comes to novice users, w/o causing panic or paranoia.

in fact it's a wonderful strain to smoke in partnership due to its "sensual" effects ;)

Satori (from what I've heard) is way more energetic, speeds the train of though, creativeness, etc.
