I just bought 95% everclear in AB at craft cellars. It will be sent to ontario. Works out to $54 for 750ml after tax/shipping.
spirtyus polish vodka at LCBO is $42 and is 76%.
LCBO in ontario rips people off with $108 for 1.14 litre of everclear 95%.

Thanks, craft cellars website seems to be down, but found a couple more AB sellers.

unless you get good at recovering, at some point you will have paid more for ethanol than you would a press

That might be true if using ethanol as the primary solvent, (and not reclaiming any of it) but the troutman method was to use the ethanol to purge any remaining primary (poisonous) solvent, and I'm guessing only needed an ounce or two.

The "average" press for the DIYer $400-500 can only do something like 5 grams of bud at a time ? If you had a pound or more to make into concentrate that would be quite a PITA.

winterizing forces out any unpurged butane but unless you distill the butane before you use it there will still be some of the "mystery oil", so if you're worried about poisons a little bit of tediousness should be worth it, some even double or triple distill the butane

there is no easy way to a truly high quality product
