Both the Left and the Right would rather a million slaves as opposed to one free person. Therefore, they will encourage people to screw their brains out, have kids and then enslave those kids. The Left wants to enslave us through a centralized economy and Socialism. The Right wants to enslave us through restrictions on speech and an economic system that is highly regulated so that only those of the same political mindset will be allowed to become successful.

Don't think that just because the Republicans are going to leave the White House that the Americans will suddenly become free. It didn't happen when Thatcher left 10 Downing Street; instead, Tony Blair came in (after John Major) and turned Britain into a Socialist basket case. Arguably, the same thing is happening now in Italy after Berlusconi. And let's not forget the Spain. Just because a straight-up Socialist is running that country, mana is not raining down from Heaven.

The established political entities throughout the world are all in on the same scam: make people think they are free, when they are actually being oppressed. How that goal is achieved differs from the Right and the Left, but the result will be the same.

GWB's ideas run far and wide, and the EU main population do not practice the laws that the Moderate Dutch do..... There must be immense pressure for the thrifty Dutch to even consider a society without the Euros gleaned from travellers...

As I have said before, profit-to-be-gained is not a concept lost on the Hollanders.... lol, there is a reason the economy is so strong. Centuries of catering to these 'needs,' for the populace and those who chose to travel there have provided a nice "Cushion," shall we say.

Hopefully, when the Right-Wing Curs who run the You-Ess-Ay are evicted there will be some kind of paradigm shift/change here and then slowly, all over the globe.

If McCain (Bush two, no make that three) wins (unlikely) there will be folks taking numbers and lining up on the Golden Gate Bridge to climb over the barrier fence, and jump to their individual ends.... Or those, like me, who will simply leave.

It appears wise at this juncture to plan ahead, and not get in the "Global Web" of surveillance and montoring that is to come and clamp down in the next few years.
If things stay mellow in the USA countryside, great. But if not..... It may be a good time to learn how to grow organic food, and maybe find a third-world place to settle down.

Growing in AMS was always so risky anyways...... Always a mystery to me.

I'm no authority on Holland or Amsterdam and have only had the pleasure of visiting there 3 or 4 times over the last 15 years, but have spoken candidly to Dutch relatives and friends about tourism there.

to think that Amsterdam relies on the ganja tourist dollar is naive....have you noticed how the locals see through every single tourist (unless they are taking money from them) ....they don't dispise you, but they don't love you being there either...they don't want 99% of the tourists that visit there..they've been over-touristed and are sick of it..the Conservative polititians are picking up on this and will get their way unfortunately

most Hollanders (as are most Europeans) are relatively wealthy now (and they have the vote and would rather do without drunken stoned male Londoners or Hamburgers on a "let's get phucked up to the max" bucks weekend) ...the locals are more concerned about quality of life which means less stoned and drunken louts crowding their quaint streets, less non-blondes moving in next door, less scamming street rats etc etc...tolerant they are, but they've had enough...if the Euro was worth half what it is now, then that would be a different story.

the only hope for Holland is for another European country to decrim ganja in a similar way so some of the ganja tourists are split between Holland and say Spain.....or......... for the Dutch to have some type of set-up similar to Christiana fenced, isolated and out of sight so the locals can enjoy their streets without some drunken Geordie vomiting on their shoes or some street reggae rat with no teeth hustling incoherently..and Aussies, Yanks and Scots can smoke in peace.

To all off you who think it is bush and the americans how are trying to get cannabis more illegal in Europe you are 95% wrong, most off the pressure comes from within the European union.

Country like Finland and Sweden are pushing hard to make a standard laws in the hole European union on cannabis, pressure from Sweden and Finland resulted in the Danish goverment to raise the fine from 350dkr (50euro) to 2000dkr (280euro) fore minor amounts (> 9.99g ) so now we have similare fines, I think that Germany and Belgium are doing the same to Holland and they are using the European union as a instrument to get there idea though.

I see the need fore a new and strong European pro cannabis party that works in the European union

ok. you have the right idea chamba.. its all about the phukd up tourists being undesirable. i doubt that even if the growshops are closed suddenly police will be kicking in doors a la the DEA.. i bet they just tone it down and do without the tourists.

dont forget holland is a massive business center, they are small and wiry. half the worlds oil goes thru those ports and plenty of worldwide companies are headquartered there. if you think they will be hurt by even a million less punters you are mistaken. old town amsterdam is all most party-ers care about and its a small wedge of amsterdam real estate and support for [mostly] dodgy shops who avoid taxes anyway.

You see...i think we have established something here. What the common folk think is or is not pleasing to the eye means fuck all!! The whole world is on the verge of a financial collapse. EVERY EURO counts now! Money is what makes the rules. Nothing else matters...morals ethics..nothing. Only money..

I think you underestimate the money cannabis brings to amsterdam. Closing down the Coffeeshops would simply be suicide!

When the US collapses...all will follow. My view of the future is grim yet positive for cannabis. We simply can not afford to keep it criminalized any longer..
