Lansing— The state of Michigan has ordered a new printer that will allow it to produce 4,000 medical marijuana cards a day.

Rae Ramsdell, who oversees the program, says 40,000 people who don't have cards have been given a tamper-proof letter to show they're qualified to use marijuana for medicinal purposes.

More than 131,000 people have been approved for marijuana. Thousands more serve as caregivers, who are allowed to grow marijuana for up to five people.

Ramsdell says the new printer should be ready by mid-March at a cost of "six figures." She says the medical marijuana office started with three employees in 2009 and now has eight full-timers and 15 temps. Ramsdell says the office gets at least 600 pieces of mail a day, including new applications and renewals.

still only have the one older lady to run that machine... think they'll actually hit that 4perday capacity? lol

anyway, with the new proposed changes, a la scheutte, the total number of us registering could drop 80%. they want to remove originally qualifying conditions like chronic pain, nausea, etc, unless those are associated to the really serious qualifiers... aids, ms, glaucoma, etc. many, many will just no longer qualify.

they also want to take away the search & seizure protections... cops could do the smash & grabs w the slightest of violations.

call the local state reps... they are debating & taking testimony at this time... now is the moment to preserve the act as written.

and their talking bout a new card machine like that is what we are upset about... sheesh.

Off the top of anyone's head, has Scheutte done anything to piss off anyone other than conscious minded people and MMJ proponents? Like, has he done anything that might piss off the people that actually voted him in?

I will believe it when I see it. They are just like the rest of the state governments all they want to do is stop or impede mmj ever step and way they can, if they cant get there way in destroying all together
